Thank you for getting tested, I got tested yesterday the antibody was negative, I was so happy. Go back for my follow-up on the 12th. IT IS SO IMPORTANT for people to get tested. Know your status folks, especially straight folks, step up, get tested, do it for the people you love and the ones your with casually. You never know if you will be in a car wreck or other situation where knowing can help protect others if you are positive.

I get tested every year when I go for my well-womans exam. I have been with the same guy for 4 years and we are in a monogamous relationship BUT since we ain't married its only wise! We should always question the methods of testing. How many of us actually know the process and how it is done? there are many inconsistencies with the actual standards being used around the world. Specifically that one is more or less prone to show positive if they have underlying medical issues such as asthma, and lupus and show false +'s there are many other as well. They are targeting statistics with blacks. there are alot of people being told they have it and dont. this is to push MEDS.

I just have to say that I am so glad that I came across this video. A lot of people feel that just because they DON'T show any symptoms of having HIV then they are safe. It is true that a person can EASILY be a carrier for the virus and not show any symptoms. The only way to be sure is to get tested regularly. Everyone, but especially black women, needs to watch this. In DC, 3% of the population is now infected. That is 1 out of every 30 adults with HIV!! And the vast majority are black. Many of them hetero women.
Over the past 10 yrs of my life, I've been tested numerous times--and in different ways (blood, urine, saliva) personally, I prefer the blood test. The downside to saliva tests are the false positives for those with auto-immune disorders/ mothers who've had multiple child births, etc.

I had to come back to this vid because a former colleague of mine died of AIDS last Saturday. He was a gay male. Earlier in the year, my neighbor who I grew up with also succumbed to this disease. She was a heterosexual female who abused drugs. Both were under the age of 37! In 2004, my cousin who was a lesbian died from AIDS at the age of 28. Lastly, a family friend who was a heterosexual female and longtime drug user, succumbed to the disease. She looked like a walking corpse. A sad sight.

That's true, but the risk is substantially decreased in this case, as it is harder for the fluids to enter the bloodstream via the mouth.

Yes, I was test negative for HIV-AIDs. When the results came back in 20 minutes. I told the test to get my wife and share the results with her. However, the tester did want to hear my results and that I should recieve them first and then tell her. No, my wife was in the room when i received the results.

There is no cure for HIV but its not a death sentence like it was 20 years ago. Many people are successfully living with the virus like Magic Johnson. It depends on the testing system they use. The 20min test is actually a the rapid version that detects HIV antibodies in the saliva. There is also a rapid test for blood available at hospitals-usually in special cases eg. needle sticks in healthcare workers or women about to deliver. The more traditional HIV antibody blood screen or blood viral load is the one that takes a lot of time-a couple of days to a week-depending on the lab.

Well we all have our preferences. I would like someone more professional. Esspecially when it comes to very personal area as HIV testing. Suppose you would have came out positive. Then you went to a club or grocery store and there's ole boy looking at you.

I ask my partner when was the last time he had sex (casually of course) and then say well we ainhaving sex until u get that test done 6 mo from the last time u had sex. lol. luckily he was clean frm head to toe.

Girl! I watched this video at 12:30pm today googled a free rapid hiv center in my area (cincinnati) made an appointment for 1:30pm today..I'm NEGATIVE and It feels good! Thank you for posting this. I usually get my test on my annuals, I got the swab for STD's but didn't get the HIV test...irresponsible right?....Well after watching this I just got free of the anxiety. I had to come back to this vid because a former colleague of mine died of AIDS last Saturday. He was a gay male. Earlier in the year, my neighbor who I grew up with also succumbed to this disease. She was a heterosexual female who abused drugs. Both were under the age of 37! In 2004, my cousin who was a lesbian died from AIDS at the age of 28. Lastly, a family friend who was a heterosexual female and longtime drug user, succumbed to the disease. She looked like a walking corpse. A sad sight.

Having said that, I think that it is important to mention that there are tiers of risks in regards to transmitting the virus. I say this because you mentioned that performing oral sex on a woman could incur risk.
That's true, but the risk is substantially decreased in this case, as it is harder for the fluids to enter the bloodstream via the mouth.

Jia, this is the most REAL vid I've watched on Utoob.I wish I had copies on DVD so I could give it to a few schools here in Austin,Texas (ATX BAYBEE!) Recently I learned that the rate of HIV infection for Black girls here between the ages of 14-24 was OVER 60%! Hispanics was 50% and Whites was 30+%. These are just the ones being tested- so the stats(Hopefully) are actually lower.Your vid would definitely help educate these kids.How would I go about getting a copy of this? I'll message u my #.

Praise the Lord! You have set a standard by displaying here on You-Tube to get tested for HIV-AID. I thank you for doing this and showing others to go get tested. Yes, I was test negative for HIV-AIDs. When the results came back in 20 minutes. I told the test to get my wife and share the results with her. However, the tester did want to hear my results and that I should recieve them first and then tell her. No, my wife was in the room when i received the results.

Very good video and you are very brave for doing this. People should seriously take the Test. It won't kill but what you don't know will. They ask more questions than I've known a clinic to ask. But, I am proud to say I am HIV/STD free. Yes! There are black women out there without the disease or any for that matter.

Ok there are alot of people who think that because they use condoms during intercourse that they are 100% protecting themselves from contracting the virus. NOT TRUE, condoms slip off/break BUT more importantly the virus is transmitted through "BODILY FLUIDS":blood, semen, pre-cum, cum, any type of discharge, & a NEW ONE TO ME: vaginal moisture. That means fucking on your menstral and worst of all ORAL SEX! So if your not using condoms during that, you're not a 100% proctecting yourself.

Great work jiatv! I have a friend as we speak who found out he was HIV positive a couple of months ago which is devastating. He chose to live a very sexually active lifestyle sleeping around and having one night stands.. Not that I'm knocking him but it goes to show that it's not good to sleep around in this day and age. Not to scare anyone but condoms are not 100% effective in stopping the transmission of some stds! Be careful!! The status of african americans here in atlanta alone looks bad.

There is no cure for HIV but its not a death sentence like it was 20 years ago. Many people are successfully living with the virus like Magic Johnson. Being safe each and everytime you have sex or abstinence is best, but, if your test comes back positive, Life does go on and with a good support system, good doctor, and a good mental outlook,being HIV positive wont stop you from meeting your goals and living a good life. Yes it is devastating but in life bad things happen to good people everyday.

no you do not, but pending on your state's leagel age of consent or when your of age to say yes... if your under age you may need parental consent. With that said for most states your free clinic more than likely does have HIV/AIDS testing.... i have been a peerleader in my community so thats how i know. JIA is right even though lesbians have a lowered risk, its still a risk. i get an hiv test as part of my annual physical so that it becomes part of norm. thak you jia this was brave

I just was suprised they allowed recording. Here in Alabama they don't give cards or a piece of paper. I think that's a good thing. Maybe I should have asked for a card or something.

AIDS scares me. Two of my managers at work have AIDS. I last got tested in April of 07. Ita was negative.. however I have had unprotected sex with two guys since.. one being a total mistake.. who scares me... cuz he was a whore... and one being my boyfriend now... I am terrified but I plan to get tested this April when I get my next pap. I do have herpes 1 and warts though... so im so scared.

It depends on the testing system they use. The 20min test is actually a the rapid version that detects HIV antibodies in the saliva. There is also a rapid test for blood available at hospitals-usually in special cases eg. needle sticks in healthcare workers or women about to deliver. The more traditional HIV antibody blood screen or blood viral load is the one that takes a lot of time-a couple of days to a week-depending on the lab.
