  • What kind of guitar is that?

  • He's also playing middle aged nickleback horrible style playing. yay.

  • WHERE THE FUCK DO I FIND THE TUNING FOR DROP Bb?!?!?

  • @snapapples817 drop B tuning is B F# B E G# C#

  • Metal guitar Idiot

  • do you need a guitar made to play metal to put those strings ?

  • @1:08, SLIPKNOT!! xD (Or sounds kinda like Slipknot)

  • @0:58, SLIPKNOT!! xD (Or sounds kinda like Slipknot)

  • Dear Gods of Heavy Metal, please have mercy on this fool.

  • how come in every expert village video, there is never a real expert?

  • Okay for the people who keep correcting him for his small mistake saying it's Bb Standard Tuning instead of Drop Bb... stop. It's a small mistake. Just listen to what he has to say & go from there with what you're going to do. It seems he's like he's just introducing HEAVY GAUGE strings & guitar types.

    NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT

  • Dear lord people, THIS IS B STANDARD.

both high and low strings are B.

  • 0:15 - 0:18 sounds like a song. LOL

  • ''For those of you like me get lost on a 7 string'' hmmmmm he also has a video of him explaining 7 seven string guitar.........but he is with expert village so you never know it could be all photo-shopped xD

  • it's not drop b u can't play bmth like this.

  • @joey143anna why would you want to?

  • How do u get lost on a 7 string?

  • 0:10

"with a heavy gauge set of shshsshhhhtrings"

  • For STANDARD B, u tune everything down a perfect 5TH! For DROP B, u tune down a THIRD then tune down an extra step on the 6th string. U got all of those wrong, and even manages tune down to A#. Is expert village doing this on purpose?!

  • This is breaking benjamin tune right? How do I tune this way?

  • @azncoolz no breaking benjamin is Drop C

  • @MetalInstrumentals not all the time. i will not bow and diary of jane are in b flat

  • @Jimmythepianoman yeah yeah i forgot that the new stuff is in A#

  • @MetalInstrumentals Breaking Benjamin uses a variety of tunings, from Standard (Rain) to drop d half step (polyamorous) to drop C (blow me away) and drop A# (diary of Jane, lights out, etc)

  • Comment removed

  • @azncoolz If you talking about diary of jane, they have DROP b flat which sounds the same. Top and Third from top string is B flat. The rest im not sure of

  • hey man, your using a pedal or a amplificator to do the heavy metal saund???

    (sorry by my bad english)

  • @feuer666frei you shouldnt have to adjust your bridge. I recommend 12 gauge strings. 12-56 at least. dont get 13's unless your tuning to B standard or drop A. either get the Ernie Ball 12-56 strings or the D'Addario 12-60 strings.

  • thats B standard dude

  • is that a fucking fender?

  • @axelboy420 lmfao

  • @hoopz2598 it depends. If your guitar has a Floyd Rose than yes it will destroy your guitar. If not it won't kill it but I highly recommend buying heavy strings.

  • @metalnut2142 i got 11-54's on a dean ML no floyd its set for drop c already but i wanna go drop B flat do i need to adjust the bridge at all? or eventually going bigger on the string but do you think it would do ok now?

  • How important is it to have heavy gauge strings when tuning very low like this???? I want to tune to this but I don't have heavy gauge strings, they're pretty light. If I do will I break my guitar???

  • @enterjcs

What do you mean just standard tuned to Bb? I thought drop Bb means drop B flat. So the guitar would be in drop B flat tuning, right?

  • a heavy gaugeststststst set of strings

  • @themacfreakguru would it still sound as good on a normal guitar having the extra thick strings?

  • waste of a drop b tuning. this guy sucks.

  • Comment removed

  • dont you need a baritone guitar to use the extra thick strings?

  • @Thorn2501 no

  • heavy gaugedsesseses

  • What the f have I just watched????

    Expert??????

Sounds more like C to me!!!

The guy can't play neither check out some kids who know there shit on chat rooms and stuff,,let's tune to b today!!! What a joke

  • Screw off dick bag!

  • that's definitely drop b dumb ass, you can go into drop c with standard strings...

  • @steveonlyintheweek You deaf, it's not C

  • Hmm... Did they pay this guy to ACT like an expert, pay this expert to act like at idiot or is he just not paid and not an expert at all...?

  • lol this video is pretty inaccurate... he sounds like a total noob ha ha "a drop B guitar". its the tunning bro, you can play any gauge it just sounds better thicker. 2nd, that guitar is tuning in STANDARD B FLAT. (3 steps down) if it was drop B flat tuning would be Bb-F-Bb-Eb-G-C

  • oh yah and i hate expert village

  • u missed something out i can't just assume that my guitar sounds like ur's when im tuning it u need to tell me

  • i myself play in a death metal band and we tune our guitars to drop Bb.

that is, C standard [another popular metal tuning] with the thickest string tuned down a whole step

  • uuhhhhh dude u do u know ur wrong right?

that guitar is in Bb standard, not drop Bb

a "drop tuning" is one that has the lowest string tuned down a whole step so that when u play the bottom 3 strings at the same fret it makes a power chord

drop tunings are very widely used in metal because it makes it way easier to play really fast chunky palm muted power chord shit cuz u only need to use one finger per fret.

  • lol, i think we took it a bit low, seven string guitars tuned to drop G

    so

    G-D-G-C-F-A-D

  • @Lerxst1990 no hes right trust me

  • @Lerxst1990 yea i was gonna say that too, but you beat me to it

  • @Lerxst1990

You're talking about drop D or Db tuning dude... And to tune tune your E-strings down to B you really need other strings... otherwise the tuned down strings will clank against the fretboard.

  • @Lerxst1990 True but at 0:38 you can see that it says,"This guitar is actually tuned to Bb"

  • Gary Fucking rocks!! he is so underrated

  • If you want to play Machine Head songs you have to tune to Drop B

  • if you want to get a nice low tone stop buying normal guitars, buy baritones

  • so true

  • seriously ppl are spending so much time and money for strings to get their guitars this low when they can just buy a guitar thats meant to be that low

  • i have my telecaster strung with heavy gauge, first i had to sand the nut so it wouldn't snap, the highest tuning it can go now is DGCFAD, i can go even to ADGCEA, A standard

  • why would u want to go that low? get a bass lol

  • Because a lot of korn's songs are in that tuning, except that its on a 7 string tuned ADGCFAD

  • yeah, and for a 6 string, tune to drop c for korn songs. it sounds about the same

  • true, the only ong i know i can play in drop c are Evolution & coming Undone

  • try Twisted Transistor

  • a bass sounds completely different to a guitar No matter what tuning your on Unless that was a terrible joke that only your laughing at, ^ ^

  • idiot..

  • Comment removed

  • that's what tuning job for a cowboy played in their new album ruination

  • Drop LAME

  • No, they played in D standard and C standard for 2 of the songs too.

    Genesis was in Drop A#.

  • I use 13-62 gauge strings for Drop A tuning and they still feel a little too loose.

  • the length of ur guitar makes a big difference as well. for instance, tension for the same tunings are different on a les paul (loose and slinky) than they are on a strat (tight)

  • Can u post tabs for that riff u played, it was sick and thanks

  • you forgot to mention drop b maj and drop b with the low e droped another scale

  • that was lesson ? that was basic bullshit... i didn't learn how to tune my guitar to Bb... he was just playing stupid chords.... 1/5 for this fuked up vid...

  • I'll take some good ol' Drop D any day of the week. The only reason I ever really go below that is to add some low end punch to my rythm parts... between my bass and guitar . It makes a recording sound so much more dynamic and layered.

  • sick tuning.

  • hey drop b sounds great, say if u had those think strings and it was just in standard E would it sound really kinda deep and bad? So really im just wondering can u use for both tunings?

  • Yeah, It will sound more thick, it's great for metal riffing and Blues.

  • the only way to use such thick strings in standard tuining would involve resetting up your guitar so the tension wont damage your snap or simply snap your strings. you'd have to have the fingers of SRV or mark morton to bend those fuckers with that much tension though...!

  • Ive got .11-.52, think that could cut it?

  • mm no but it would work for Drop C and C#

  • You can go all the way down to Drop A with 11 gauges and be fine...don't listen to that douchebag unless you like your strings to not move at all and sound bassy.

  • you're gonna want a low string of .60 (maybe more if you don't like loose strings).

  • B is just to low in my opinion. I like C standard much x)

  • Sounds amazing, I just got a set of 12's and i'm tuning it up now.

  • Hi!

Do u know what scales it uses for drop b tuning?

    o how it works?

    thanks!

  • actually you are talking about tuning down 3 steps. Drop B(flat) tuning would be low to high B(flat) A D G B E

  • what are you talking about...

  • do you need to make any guitar ajustments to tune to drop b and lower or just thicker strings?

  • haha i have my acoustic tuned in drop b right now.

    it's crazy.

it sounds normal, the acoustic strings are pretty thick,. no buzz or anything.

  • what about 10-60 gauges? or are those to thick for drop c and B

  • I have gauge 60-10

They still are fairly loose at Bb (b flat)

    They are great.

    The thicker the better.

  • can you use drop B with regular strings?

  • No, you need thicker strings or else it will sound horrible

  • could i do it on some 11 gauges? (:

  • didn't know strats could get that sound.

  • will dunlop zakk wylde strings do

  • Yes. I use them on my Gibson Flying V and it absolutely kicks ass.

P.S. I use a Seymour Duncan Sh-4 in the bridge so that has so impact on the sound.

  • thanks and for some reason my bridge on my guitar is tilting up instead of being flat on the body what can i do i cant use my whammy bar how can i get it flat on the body again

  • you have to adjust your spring tension, possibly needing to add another string.

your best off just bringing it in to a refutable shop, or private guitar fixer upper, and getting them to do it for cheap, it'll save you alot of hassle, time, effort, and possible damage to your guitar.

    cheers brah.

  • lol ye this is b standard?

  • this man, is retarded.

  • i have to agree with those of you who think that this guy is a fool. simeplestupid22, however, i'll have to disagree with. baritone strings or 7-string strings would be good for this tuning. EADGBE strings would definitely not work for B flat... and would be way to loose and flabby had he actually been playing in any kind of tuning where the top string is tuned down to B.

  • the tuning showed here is not drop b but b standard: B E A D F# B

    drop b is in fact: B F# B E G# C#

  • you dont need new strings,,, i just tune my guitar down to drop B and drop A with wutever strings happen to be on the guitar,, it sounds fine

  • you can use any strings you want... just it sounds better with heavier gauge strings because it keeps the tension on

  • I use 72 gauge and it's sick

  • holy fuck.

  • can i tune to b and play right without buyng new strings? i have my guitar about 2 months ago and i want to play some Slipknot songs in tune b

  • its not even B its A# (-.-)

    A# D# G# C# F A#

thats what my guitar's tuned at and thats what his guitar sounds like

  • Its in Bb, which if i'm not mistaken is also A#

like Db is C#. Just the matter if you wanna use sharps or flats

  • A# = Bb

  • B, E, A, D, G, B so is that the tuning from top to bottom

  • so I'm guessing the tuning is B, E, A, D, G, B?

  • oo i forgot my guitar is a kahler whammy trem on it so really need help putting the bridge down!!

  • i got the drop B tuning on my guitar but now it has the bridge way up HELP i need to re place the little things on my neck with a screw driver someone show me how the bridge should be

  • sorry its my bridge!!!

  • you might not have figured out but you need to adjust the springs in the back of the trem cavity. there should be something that looks like a clamp, with two screws going into the body. remember the tremolo should be parallel to the body looking from the side.

  • yeea but instead of being parallel its all way up ill send you a pic if you want i need help you'll see i changed my guitar strings to a thicker gauge but the tension made the bridge come up it seems i have to loose the string saddlers but i dont know how it should look like i dont wanna mess up my guitar right now my whammy is up like 10 or 15 degree

  • like what i said before, you have to adjust your tremolo springs. are you in Bb tuning with the heavier gauge strings?

  • google didnt work..

  • this is gay...he should just tune it without distortion

  • agreed

  • hooooooo shut up...how to tune..that's a fuckiing coke shit dick lesson ever...

  • google.. ;)

  • my guitar sounds completel differenty

  • this is B tunig

  • Indeed it is B.

  • OMG

bout a year ago before i knew about different gaged strings,

    i had a set of .09 strings

and i fucking dropped to A

and it sounded like a vibrater cuz it was so buzzy

  • yeah man, get some thick ones, ernie ball not even slinkies or w/e(.12-.56)

  • well now i have .11

  • what tuning do you use with those? standard? just wondering.

  • um

    D standard usually

    but sometimes drop C

  • If I were using a chromatic tuner to tune to drop A; from standard tuning would I need to place the capo on the 6th fret of low E and the rest on the 4th fret then tune it down to standard?

Hope the question wasn't too confusing :[

  • He forgot to mention that you will also have to change the position of your truss rod. Putting a different gauge string on your guitar will change the tension, so you will not have the same action as before.

  • hey dude i have the same necklace!

  • Does Anyone Know The Notes For "Drop Bb"?

  • Bb then the rest to C standerd

  • Can U Write Out The Notes Plz? ^.^

    Sorry, I Fail =]

  • You can tell right away because he plucks the highest and lowest strings together. If it was a drop tuning they would not be the same note, (Bb and C) as you pointed out. They are both Bb.

  • Correct, not a "drop tuning" at all. This is Bb Standard tuning.

  • actually this guys playing in drop Bb (BbFBbEbGC) so it is dropped

  • hold on you are right my bad bro he is in a standard

  • this is clearly not a drop tuning

  • heaviest sound (IMO) is GHS Boomers zakk wyldes...beefy as shit...never break..not floppy and sloppy, nice and thick heavy as shit sound...gauges 11-14-18-36-52-70... sick ass strings

  • pst don't tell anyone but those are d'addario strings...

  • im getting my new guitar around xmas but i dont know whether to get a jackson kelly or an ibanez iceman

wat would be better for metal

  • definatly get a jackson kelly, they arre awwesome, how ever i would recommend a good amplifier, somthing that will give you a heavy sound. good luck, watever one you choose they are both good

  • im a ibanez person so ill go wit that lolz

  • its drop B(b) (flat) morbid angel uses this tuning alot :o

  • Hey, i just got a guitar two weeks ago and i want it to sound like the band "In Flames", do i have to buy some special string or something?

  • haha hey dats why i clicked on dis im lookin how 2 tune my guiat in dat style! its "Drop A" tuning! on wikipedia it says d similar to dis guy u need thicker strings and on sum guiatrs u need to modify it! ive been trying to drop tune mine 2 A an i just cant! but ere if u find out let me kno how u did it! tanks

  • guitarRocker446, hey, if you want to get a nice in flames sound drop every string note by two whole steps. In Flames play in C standard on some of the middle period songs. It sounds perfect for Trigger and Cloud Connected.

  • Yes, very ture, thanks man =)

  • i have guitar i keep in b, i use d'adario 13's with seymore duncan screamin demon pickups on a 79' fender squire. its a sweet sounding setup think blues guitar, souped up on riods, its not as metal as my 'lock...but its fast action makes it super playable and its lead channel is far superior

  • this is the first time i've heard some call Drop B actually Drop B. most ppl refer to it as Slipknot.

  • very true

  • haha "metal guitar expert" thats an oxymoron

  • thats not drop b

  • wouldnt 12-56 work also?

  • where do you get the strings?\\like does samash sell em?

  • Guitar Center, or your local shop.

  • metal guitar expert my ass. he's just doing a bunch of power chords with a low tuning. nothing special at all

  • and what do u think mordern metal is, slipknot, disturbed, mudvayne the list goes on. times are changing man, and not for better.

  • i never said that's what i thought modern metal is. and no, i don't listen to any of them so it's not what i do think modern metal is

  • umm i play a f with the 8 siz with 21 strings dope right

  • wat is the lowest drop tuning? drop A?
