  • That's musical genius is what that is. And why complain about Cecilia? Her two-part harmony is perfect! Ah well...

  • She became his muse, and more, at an important point in his life. This impacted his life and his music in a huge way. What she does onstage, aside from providing great harmonies, is basically interpretive dance. Much like her relationship with Colin has served as an interpretation of life for him.

  • I do not wade into Youtube pissing contests. I learned the hard way not to partake, long ago in the days of BBS. I am old. I first saw Colin with MAW in 1983. I then saw him in '07 or '08 touring in suppor of AYLAM. When I first saw Cecilia on stage, like others, I found it distracting. I didn't yet understand the profundity of her relationship with Colin.

  • A great performance by a master of the art, absolutely outrageous guitar work finger picking and a wonderfully emotive singing style, a true artist. One of the best performances around. When you compare Colin Hay's songs to the amateurish vocals and chord pounding out there by the imatitators and wannabe's it’s clear why Colin is authentic true artist..

  • At first glance I thought she was doing sign language, but that was dumb. She is dancing.

  • I have worked with these two brilliant artists, they epitomize collaboration, expression and emotion. Brilliant!

  • She's HOT

  • Cecilia is a very sweet gal from Peru.. Colin and Cecilia are very nice folks..

  • this man is doing his own thing(expressing how sees fit, after a big record contact having career). he sings, has an acoustic guitar and back vocal who expresses through dance. dont hate..see how amazing and beautiful this song is..if you stripped the electricity..it would sound just as beuatiful. you can say that for maybe 20 percent of what is on the radio these days.this is talent. this is lasting and timeless.

  • You like the way she throws the dice?

  • She's a pretty lady

  • She's great, he's great, kick-ass song and performance :D

  • Yea, I'd much rather have just seen/heard him perform. She kinda ruins it for him.

  • Her dancing is annoying. That notwithstanding, her harmonies are lovely.

  • What a great song. "When I woke today suddenly nothing happened.... " Man, that really sums it up for sum of us.

  • I like her vocals very much.

  • Love the song, but unfortunately I also find his wife distracting, and it takes so much away from his performance. Also to whoever said Colin wasn't married anymore - not sure where you get your information, but I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

  • I saw him live. That bitch is nothing short of annoying! The band would be FINE without her. Make no mistake, she adds nothing to the band, he's just pussy whipped. It's all good that he loves her but no need to drag her hippie , wanna be musician ass up on stage to ride his coat tails. Colin kicks ass, leave the bitch at home or at least, in the audience.

  • @breastmeatonly

So does she sing with him the whole show or just a couple tunes???

  • @TPsynth Glad you like her. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. That's mine. She's annoying and added NOTHING to the performance that I was watching. SHE SUCKS.

  • @breastmeatonly

Nooooo, I do not like her !! I was asking because I was taking my wife to see him at Sycuan casino this last Friday, and was really hoping she would NOT be there, thankfully she was not.

Colin did talk for 60% of the show though.

  • @TPsynth Sorry, I was replying to tremoloheart, who called me an idiot, not you!

  • @TPsynth

thats how he performs now..hes doing a story teller tour. i saw him perform this a few years back..i found it nice..i saw him in a less than 100 people crowd so it felt very personal..i like the "storyteller" way for the old timers..if i hear justin timberlake doing it id be pissed lol

  • @breastmeatonly cecelia is very talented. You should check out her videos with her band (something like 14 pieces) which is sensational. She's definitely not a wannabe musician. She is a musician. And you are an idiot.

  • @tremoloheart spot on mate

  • @breastmeatonly ..actually, I like what Cecilia Noel does when she's with Colin. I believe that she is his wife. She is actually very talented in her own right. You should check her out on youtube. She's very "salsa." I believe her band is around 16 pieces. People who disdain her input on this video are probably not very artistic.

  • I think overall Cecilia Noel's part in this was a greater detriment to the performance than anything else.

  • im surethe dancing is beautiful just not my thing its better without the video so i say to those struggling with the dancing lol scoll right down and have a nice day

  • Saw them both in concert.. and met them afterwords.. and they are wonderful.. and she is a pleasure to visit with.. as well as Colin is. They are one of the most people oriented couples I have ever met in the music business. I would GLADLY spend the time to visit with them again.. and she has such a beautiful voice.. and to all that don't like her I GLADLY say STFU and move on

  • Why the hating on Cecilia?

Is her lack of inhibition frightening?

  • @Jouwl No, it's that she doesn't really add much to the song. I thought the song worked just fine with solo vocals. Add in her "dancing" and it's.... more distracting.

  • She's sharing his love of music and his message. i think it was nice of Colin to include her. Why not, thats the woman he loves. It's not for the masses, it's for them.

  • @ChrisDoll44 Well, that's the problem, Chris. When you perform for an audience, it's for the audience, not a self-indulgent journey for the artist. If they aren't going to cater to their audiences why charge ticket prices for a concert or expect to make a living out of playing for yourself?

  • @opannefrank you think musicans make music only for their audience and not becuase they enjoy what they create? sad sad

  • Comment removed

  • @ChrisDoll44 Musicians make music for all kinds of reasons. I'm simply stating if a musician performs for an audience, then it is their job to entertain that audience, not necessarily themselves. Otherwise, a musician could stay home play in front of a mirror and masturbate to their reflection. Performance for others shouldn't be self-indulgent. If it becomes masturbatory it usually is a failure.

  • So what if she's waving her hands about?! Her vocals add to the harmony and boost the bridge - Go, Girl, that's what I say.

  • Comment removed

  • I think she is expressing herself through dance , she should probably keep it to herself

  • @commodore665 lol. better then her standing there awkwardly, in my opinion

  • fuck her man

  • It looks like she's trying to summon Mother Nature

  • At least she can sing. Unlike Yoko Ono!

  • She definitely overdoes it with the hands. Very annoying and distracting.

  • I saw Colin and Celia on the Cayamo cruise of 2011. I am an avid fan of Colin Hay; his music and his tenacity are inspiring to any musician. I asked him to sign my guitar, he did so, what a great guy. I admire (and envy) the way he just digs in and pulls out the greatest tunes. Men At Work is passe, (Colin, please forgive me),

but Colin Hay of today is one incredibly talented guy. At the risk of sounding like a groupie, (Always hated that analogy), Colin Hay Rocks, and Celia's vocals are ...WOW!

  • A clear case of "Ricky, I wanna be in the show."

  • i really REALLY like it , all except the meaning of lyrics... but the music and singing are so perfect :)

  • The funny thing is how confident she is in the dancing. She's like, "Ya I'm stoned and when I dance I look like I'm floating in water. Back off bitches..."

  • Really good live version with Colin Hay himself...

  • Saw him in Ft Lauderdale earlier this year... no one can put on a better concert, just him and a guitar... ps.. he's not married anymore

  • @cblaker114 well thats sad :(

  • @cblaker114

No way! Ugh! I live in Ft. Lauderdale. I didnt know he put on a concert around here :/

    Hope he comes back eventually.

  • @TheWhiteLupe

Yeah.. it was in April.. amazing.. and he stays afterward as long as people want to stay and talk.. he signed my guitar and chatted for quite a while.. it was the last stop on his tour. I'm sure when he does his next tour he'll be back this way.. i'll be there for sure!!

  • Thank you Scrubs for this song! Because of that I now know so many great songs including this one.

  • i seem to enjoy her role in this video it's interesting.. great stuff from collin and his wife I think i gotta learn this on guitar!

  • The 12 string is perfect on this

  • The hippi chick is annoying at certain parts. Dedede dededede dede. But helps alot with the majority of the harmonizing. Stick with that and this Fn song will be my ring tone. Good job

  • I'm surprised all you uptight MF'ers that are bothered by his wife even like the song, since its about self reflection and all???

  • One of the most beautiful and poetic songs ever written. And it was completely ruined and upstaged by a crack whore. Come on, Colin!

  • I saw this video once before and loved it! Thanks for the upload indie music show!!!!!!

  • Colin Hay is a lyrical genius!

  • He does not NEED HER.. SEEN IT LIVE AND SHE JUST MESS WITH ME.. COLINE I KNOW YOU LOVE YOUR WIFE BUT PLZ KEEP HER OUT

  • i like her voice arrangements, but the dancing/acting thing is awful.

  • I love it

  • i get that shes trying to be funny n all, which would work for a more upbeat song. but this is a ballad. the added vocals arent bad by any means tho

  • She's Colin Hay's Yoko Ono.

  • @mattdarrigo1 Her dancing may seem crap but at least her vocal harmonies are okay.

  • He's redone this song several times on various albums, but I believe this is the best version. I konw Cecilia is a bit...odd...but her voice adds just the right touch. Listen to the original on the Topanga album...it's just not as good.

  • colin hay is sooooooooo talented... just plain good stuff

  • Hey Colin, I'm not sure if you really know how much you touch peoples hearts...

  • @BeezerWax her harmony is so lovely and perfect

  • colin AND his gorgeous wife, also very talented see cecelia and wild clams for more of her amazing voice presence and bodaciousness..

    <3 to both.

  • Always loved the songs its always been a bueatiful world.......I love the other singer..........always great to add another voice.

  • Amazing guitarist, singer and text writer...

  • I'm so thankful for you both and this lovely song. Colin I have been learning everyone of your songs, they are so funnily appropriate for me, I adapt a little bit Beautiful World, sailing rather than driving, but everyone says it was like it was written for me. One day I will post it to you. You're wonderful. Thank you so much for taking good care of your spirit. I love this duet.

  • I'm so thankful for you both and this lovely song. Colin I have been learning everyone of your songs, they are so funnily appropriate for me, I adapt a little bit It's A Beautiful World, sailing rather than driving, but everyone says it was like it was written for me. One day I will post it to you. You're wonderful. I love this duet.

  • is she using sign language for deaf people or suttin :S she's a pain in the ass!!!

  • it's a pain in the ass playing that kind of guitar

  • SO I go from Iggy and The Stooges show to this show the next month. This ought to balance that out nicely.

  • Love the song...........and I find her quite sexy actually!

  • Beautiful.. Colin and Cecila are wonderful artists.

  • Greatl song by a terrific couple

    Cecilia and Colin thanks...

  • OMG TELL YOKO to shut up and it it would improve this song greatly

  • Don't ever say white skin people don't have soul! and beautiful harmony.

  • Dont change a winning team, you say, and the same goes for a song that already sounds good. Why ruin it with this ¤&¤%&

  • She has a beautiful voice, but she is SO very hippy dippy! Don't watch, just listen...

  • I saw Colin Hay a year ago and I absolutely loved the first half of the show when it was just him, but then Cecilia joined him and completely ruined it. She is so distracting and takes away from his performance. I literally had to close my eyes while she was on stage.

  • @kakboy11 --I agree. We saw Colin several years ago in Florida, and we were actually anoyed by her on stage loopiness. Was very distracting to Colin's great voice and lyrics. Also,we were shocked that they both looked like they had dressed in clothes out of the dirty clothes hamper.

  • just beautiful .....

  • OMG I cannot believe these two are married???? I adore Cecilia Noel. I saw her in Hollywood at The Big Potato in the '90's and I think she is enormous talent. Do not judge her by this one performance. Search for her on here doing Slam The Clam, Candela or Dip It and you will have respect. She's awesome.

  • Love him but she is too hippy dippy and distracting.

  • Can Cecilian Noel just go away? ruins it for me

  • This is beautiful - love Cecilia Noel's input into this song!

  • why does he remind me of tobin bell??? °__°

  • I love the gestures! This man just keeps getting better. And his wife just enriches the magic.:)) Leave it to Colin what is he in his 60's to find a hot salsa women! Luck people.

  • Yea the dance is a bit weird, but really nice job on the harmony vocals. They sound good together and Colin is a great songwriter.

  • SHit, I wish I hadn't looked this up on you tube now. I just heard that voice on the commercial and I hated the song, but I loved the voice so I googled it and low and behold the freaking lead singer on Men At Work, Colin Hay. And I was blown away. His voice made that band, But ewww! He has a such a sexy voice and this blew it for me..and who is that Pocohontas groupie?

  • @melis0725 This is why you will continue to buy mass produced garbage, and you're better off leaving the music created by musicians (such as Colin) for the rest of us who can appreciate and understand it. :) That Pocahontas groupie is his wife, by the way...Cecilia Noel.

  • @melis0725: his wife.

  • @melis0725 lol "pocohontas groupie" i love the song but i cant watch it cause she just ruins it with her hippie dancing

  • You just cant beat a basic stripped down song, performed with passion and rawness

  • What stoneydanyahoo said! (from a bretheren artist) plus she has nice attributes to look at!

  • thumbs up if Scrubs brought u here....

  • Comment removed

  • what is there not to like about this song

  • You can't deny, the guy is a fucking talent

  • Great song, but his wife is quite annoying

  • @s4099274 Just consider that they are genuinely into this song in a way that you perhaps you cannot enjoy

  • @s4099274 The host is a bit more annoying.

  • @s4099274 You have no idea what you're talking about. Sorry, but, in an infinite universe, you are still wrong.

  • @Quackenblatz totaly

  • I'd like to invite them over for a cook out!

  • Love this song!!!!!!! I think his wife adds to it very well. No matter how many times I hear this song, it always brings a tear to my eye. A lot of Colin Hay's songs has that effect on me. If you agree, thumbs up. He's brilliant!!!!!!

  • I get all the arguments about Cecelia but I suppose, at the end of the day, it's his song and his wife and he can do whatever he wants. She does sing nicely though.

  • is she standing on his blind side ?

  • They both are so wonderful.. She is a wonderful compliment.. TY COLIN!

  • I actually like her expression she is a really good musician and she has a terrific sense of timing. The music flows through her. Who the hell cares what she looks like making it happen.

  • what the hell is she at hahaha

  • @iknowrealmusic101 i was thinking the same same thing myself lol.. is she on drugs??

  • @Paddyslippers the first 30 secs her dancing is so funny :P

  • She is a bit annoying, but her voice does at character. Either way, it's a beautiful song. I love this man!

  • It's John and Yoko. Everyone loves Yoko.

  • The beautyf of this song is that the message is a fundamental battle we all have to fight at some point in our lives in order to develop into the full person we can be,

life cannot be waited on, your real life is the one you live while making other plans, and in the end it's true beauty is contained in that very fact, it can be a VERY painful thing to come to terms with though, as I am experiencing.

  • @bboyGrimes Well put and best of luck

  • OMG, people. Open your heads and ears a little. What an amazing voice she has, and such timing!

It's a fantastic song, one that goes to a place most people won't look at too closely, and their abilities as musicians to wind their voices together is impressive.

Colin Hay is under-appreciated, pass this or whichever of his songs that move you along to someone and help him make a good living, if he's changed you.

And keep the kvetching to yourself...

  • This song has a very special meaning to me. Colin Hay is probably my favorite artist. The whole hippi dancing thing is a bit annoying though.

  • omg i stay in kilmarnock, im only a few miles away from him!

  • is she high?

  • Goooooooooooo Cecilia! Awesome!

  • Musically and/or visually, true artists take us from the ordinary into the ExtraOrdinary. Cecilia's accent to her Husband's song may be weird to some, but you can't deny it's transe like draw and her conviction to the song. As a lifelong 'wannabe musician' , I can only imagine what it must be like to do this, escpecially with your wife!

  • not a fan of this song as a duet

  • she helped out on a fair few of his songs incase ye haven't ntoiced... i mean, they might be only minor changes but she is Very musically talented.... if only a bit weird !

  • for people who don't like her involvement-- as an artist, you would get bored doing the same song, the same way, over and over... so throwing in some vocals and bat-shit crazy dancing = winner.

  • @stoneydanyahoo shes a latina jazz singer. with this set-up you may only have epic win.

  • @stoneydanyahoo - lol beauty of this song is that you don't have to watch the video to enjoy his voice...the song is perfection. but you're right hehe

  • @stoneydanyahoo Well said...

  • Love it!

  • Brilliant song and a brilliant performance from one of the more under rated songwriters on the planet. Wow.

Of course, the title of "Indie Music Show" shows how the word 'Indie" has been co-opted by people looking to sell something. Colin Hay is "Indie" ?!?

  • That girl singing is the best, especially with that hey-look-at-me hula dancing. Reminds me of Linda McCartney. She just needs to get a better guitar player.

  • The "Yoko" of Australia... But seriously, her voice is just fine, I don't mind it. Just put a refrigerator crate in front of her during the dancing, and we're all set.

  • This song makes it hard to breath. My heart just wants to explode right out of my chest. I love it, and no matter how fucked up I have let my life become, it gives me hope. I hope I'm not the only one.

  • @monizzle22

No, you're not the only one...

    ";+D)=

  • @yjloiselle Thank you, that's good to know. ;-)

  • @monizzle22 keep strong - you are not alone

  • It's a brilliant song ! it's enhanced by his partners beautiful voice in harmony.

  • this could possibly be the greatest song ever written

  • this is amazing..by saying life might suck but for him to konw that his

real life is call;ing him and everything in his past is gonna getbetter once that'ship' comes in to get him and he'll be at peace. At least thats what I took from it let me know what you think.ps not looking to get into debted arguments but acctual discussions on his music and get some different takesor oppinions on his songs.

  • This is a very BEAUTIFUL song and performance! Colin's voice is hauntingly smooth and organic, and Cecilia adds a nice free-spirited vibe. I was touched in my soul by them both. Funny that I would have never heard of the song if not for the new Hertz commercial. I searched and searched until I found the artist. Simply LOVELY!

  • @tobsjoy you can get all his albums on itunes fou like ten bucks or just download a few songs for liike 29 cents a piece.hope that helps

  • It's like a special Yoko Onno. She's not evil, but we don't really wanna listen to her.

Sorry Colin, I love your music, but not hers.

  • @sidneywatts42 You got that right

  • Performing the song with Cecilia makes the performance special. Her background vocals are good and her vocal flurries between the verses set the stage for Colin's singing during the bridge. She looks at Colin with love and with pride in him and his beautiful song.

  • I could have done without that gypsy dancing shit Cecilia Noel was doing. But as per usual, incredible performance in his part.

  • this guitar sounds so great!!

  • One of the best song I have ever heard! Beatiful lyrics, melody.. JUST PERFECT!

  • This one of my favorite songs, and a brilliant performance. One million stars!

  • She does have a beautiful voice and looks to match just doesn't really match the feeling I get from the song. I think Colin Hay has a great voice because it is so unique and his timing also. Thats what I also like about Men at Work songs.

  • It's just beautiful

  • What a incredible talent. Colin writes the words that your heart feels but your head can't express. A song that makes the world a better place by it's very existence. Thank you Colin.

  • great song.

  • Gorgeous song from a tremendously gifted song-writer. Drastically ldifferent than the old corporate MEN AT WORK, who gave us some catchy, quirky tunes in the early 80's. To these bozos posting comments, who gives a shit about her hand and body mannerisms, she's got a great voice & she's getting into it. Maybe she had a couple too many coffees, or whatever? U know!!! I can dig it regardless.

  • Cecilia needs a stool and just harmonize.....the 60's are gone, thank God!!

  • Collin imakes beautiful songs. Love him since Men At Work

  • She look like a crazy person! Damn Hippies!

  • Colin, you're the best I totally love this song but she is destroying the honest lyrics with her fake behaviour...

  • I saw Colin for the first time in a few years at this years Byron Bay Blues Fest..he was amazing as always..have just downloaded three of his previous albums. But jeezz..his wife does my head in! Her ridiculous dancing and antics were annoyingly distracting at his live gig.... least she's toned it down in this footage!

Oh well its his show and I guess it must be that love is blind :-D

  • HOW WHOOPED IS HE! SHE SURE IS YOUNG & PRETTY. IS THIS INTERPRETIVE DANCE-SHARING?

uuggh. I cry & laugh & find peace to all his songs. i am in full support of colin so i dont want to seem to negative but:

i'm waiting for the real performance to begin.

  • what a song! a song that makes you want to stop, stand back and look at your life, what a talent that guy is. alba go bragh! (scotland forever!)

  • @mudfries "alba go bragh" - thanks for that. He's a bit of a singer, yes?

  • excelent... Colin please keep doing great job...

  • Colin is the best

  • cant she just... not be there.... shes annoying
