  • this one's for whitney houston RIP LOVE !!!!!

  • i ve faced the hardest times u could imagine but i made it through by the grace of

    Allah

  • Tony Churchill is my grandad!

  • @ToriLenayy2504 You lucky thing! Man, I would just sit and listen to the TRUE stories for hours!

  • @ST41127 well, he doesn't really talk about it much

  • This is one of my favorites from waaay back in the day

  • THIS SONG MAKES YOU FALL IN LOVE ALL OVER AGAIN

  • this was my mom's favorite song when it came out and its my favorite song now a generation later. thats how you know this is greatness

  • This was my Late Dad song for myself because i was his WildFlower. All the Trouble and Heart Ache i cause him, he still had Faith in me and loved me unconditionly. R.I.P Dad.

  • @LAPASSION9 Don't they all? That's why I went back to school and finished my last degree. I should have did it when she was alive. Life goes on, and I can feel the she saw me walk across that stage.

  • the Skylark version sounds like some homogenized whitebread yassuh mister charlie you better know your place crap. This soulful and emotional version is the real deal. This came out when we came out and up! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

  • actually this song is about how much God/Jesus loves u.

  • K.C hailey remade this to!

  • This song is filled with so much love and passion. He really loves this woman,an I love this song everytime I hear it.

  • I just had my first child at the age of 23 and my dad played this song and my 2 week old daughter is my flower.

  • Oh damn this was baby making music here, Oooooooooo

  • i like this version but u got to listen to the o'jays version

  • * this births new appreciation when and wherever i hear it ~ great classic *

  • Was he singing that!! wow!!

  • The older this gets the better it sound!!!

  • This one's got more soul! But if I want to get on some Woodstock ish, I listen to the other one.

  • This applies to all women as beautiful as you all are.

  • we might have the same struggles but this is a african american song their is know you understand us1

  • I like this version better than the one by Skylark. I like the soulfulness put into it.

  • @crmarquet I DON'T THINK I'VE HEARD THE OTHER VERSION, IS IT GOOD?

  • @nucxd Yes, the other version is pretty good but it doesn't have (according to my taste) the same soulfulness as this one. But you know, it's a matter of taste.

  • classic music is very romantic not like the songs today love R&B love my roots

  • @topdogbabyboomer, i was to young to go to night clubs in that year, but definitely take me back to the 70's.

  • @onThisMarathon I understand the R&B f you think this is exaggerated, then you don't understand how R&B worked back then. This is a great song and you shouldn't put it down if you don't understand. To use a slightly overused phrase, "It's a Black Thing."

  • Skylark;s version is way better, its smooth, this shit is way too exaggerated.

  • good cover, but still can't touch the original version by Skylark

  • @fierrote I disagree. Skylark had a nice sound but they can't touch the SOUL in this version.

    Melvin Wilson at his best.

  • @fierrote EXACTLY

  • @missguatemala1964 & rolandosanchez13....Black Man here seconding your emotion....ALL WOMEN, no matter their race....

  • what a CLASSIC

  • the skylark version is better

  • @onThisMarathon No way. This version is so much better - and driven with passion.

Skylark is okay but very tame in comparison.

  • This song came out when I was a teenager and I memorize the whole song and sang it to my girlfiend over the phone one night. When he starts mack'in at the end of the song is the shit!

  • This song makes me want to make love to my husband especially when he sings it me <3 it

  • @Spanishgirl, I totally agree. Black women deal with way more than any other race will EVER know. We are always the one "strong" one, black men want a strong woman to support them, and yes, we've always been there for them, but do not always get that same support in return. Love this song!

  • music has a lot to do with color cos noone can sang it like the coloreds. they can just sang and they can put their heart and soul into it i am sorry if people jet offended certainly not meaning to hurt anyone's feelings, this song back in the day was sung by a black man for a black woman...can't we have just a lil bit of our props?

  • @1goldbaby

    Coloreds? Damn.

  • This is the song i turned to in my rebellious times....love it...My dad made me listen to this song over ,over again....and i Cry'd like a baby.....LUV IT!!!!

  • @spainishgirl

So true. BLK women are...especially... needing strong emotional support and protection and for long a time as a whole...we have not been getting that from our men...and that's the missing piece. We always been the ' GO TO WOMEN ' in this society whether we liked it or not and many of us just are plain weary and torned. That's why I love this song much. It's really sums up blk women's feelings and needs. We need strong men to lean on. Now that's a blessing.! ( giggles ) Peace

  • Very strong lyrics of emotions, feelings and love. Hardest times becomes Great times after a while when two works as one..... Love these Old School R&B songs!

  • STRONG LYRICS.

  • It speaks to maintaining a love in the face of all the turmoil in the world.

  • for me the song speaks to the struggle to maintain a love amidst all the turmoil of life. The siren she hears, and the weight of all the years, and all that stuff is enough to make anybody cry, SOMETIMES.

  • The song speaks to the answer of what the blk man needs to do to UPLIFT his blk woman...GIVE LOVE, RESPECT, UNDERSTANDING, PROTECTION AND STRONG EMOTIONAL SUPPORT.

  • @spainishgirl And Vice versa

  • i remember when i was just a young lad playing in the park till way after dark i will never forget those older gents playing woo-pie in the cars next to the swings i remember the rock San Francisco ca

  • i remember when i was just a young lad playing in the park till way after dark i will never forget those older gents playing woopie in the cars next to the swings i remember the rock San Francisco ca

  • Its songs like this that puts me in my place and brings healing to my soul. When no one else could this can. Im sober and Im loving this, no need to be on a good one cuz im already on one, on some Wild Flower!

  • Yay baby! They don't make um like this anymore!! (-:

  • this is the ish

  • Its so nice to find the original music to which your favourite songs were sampled from, I came across this cause i noticed that jamie foxx song and the gravediggaz track "unexplained" had a similar samples at parts, and now here i am listening an amazing song, which was covered from another group, shit is wild

  • i love this song

  • pure to da gut!!

  • missguatemal1964 u r so right...rael women if u have ever gone through anything.....this song is a beast!!!!! but question is where r the men that will be 'Your Bridge over Troubled Waters"?!!!!!

  • My dad played this song so much when I was a child. I was ten, I song this song at every family gathering and still do at the age of 26. He is so handsome, please watch the old soul train ... MS. MEME

  • The song was a poem written by a white guy. Who was the gutarist for Sky Lark. So this is not the orginal version of this song. How can you say it apllies to only Black Women, when a white guy wrote the song??????

  • ONL THE COMMENT ABOUT "ONLY A BLACK WOMAN CAN APPRECIATE THIS SONG, WITH ALL DUE RESPECT IS NOT TRUE, I LOVE THIS SONG, IT RELATES TO ME AS A LADY, MY LIFE, FEELINGS, EMOTIONS....LOVE..AND NO IM NOT AFRICAN-AMERICAN, IN FACT I AM HISPANIC, AN IMMIGRANT TO THIS COUNTRY. LOVE R&B!!!!!!!

  • @missguatemala1964--I agree with you on that, it's for a LADY period to understand!!! If you have any emotions or feelings within you, you gotta FEEL this song. GO NEW BIRTH!!!

  • @missguatemala1964 Amen!!!! music is universal it has nothing to do with color the writer of the song is canadian not black afterall

  • @tribe1964

Jealousy is such an ugly emotion. I have seen this lead singer many times. He is a child of Africa. He's about as Black as they come. This music come from the depth of the original man -- the Black man. It's passion and beauty which the original people can communicate.

  • @missguatemala1964 YOU GO GIRL,FROM A CUBAN IN MIAMI

  • @missguatemala1964 feelin you on that one sis..dred1329.

  • @missguatemala1964 you go girl, fuk that ass-hole,this song is for all women, and latinas are all woman.

  • This was when entertainers had real talent. I remember New Birth and the were special. I have much respect for their art.

  • I'm 23. I first heard this sampled in a song. When I heard the original I feel in love with it instantantly. Sorry Jamie:-(

  • God Bless old school there is nothing like it.

  • Man I remember this album was full of gems. You youngsters should turn some of us old heads on to the computer and more oldskool than you can listen to. Better make sure they have their own computer though or you won't get yours back. Occasionally I'll tune to a radio station I turn it right back off. Utube and Rhapsody you've got your own radio station. WEFUNK so all ya'll talking about good music and how they don't make it anymore. It's right here so play it but don't fillet it. Funk it up

  • "Haaaa yeah "

  • this is the best song of all times we jhu

play this so much the record skip nad u

that it did the jhu crew

  • If new music was only like this!!!

  • This song is full of soul! I woke up thinking of this song the other morning, it was actually in my dream, like a soundtrack, wow!

  • Blast from the past! Love this song!!!!!

  • Music written for and heard through the ears of truly appreciative people. Soul and not just soul but what soul was built on.

  • This is the BEST and most soulful rendition of this song to me, also the most memorable. I grew up hearing this version on the Quiet Storm... up listenin' to GROWN FOLK MUSIC when I was supposed to be in bed. The youth of today don't know what real music is and the record labels are robbing them of GOOD MUSIC!

  • Thank you! that is so true.

  • new birth always ended their songs with a big climax. their concerts were outstanding back in the day. this is the kind of music that is missed.

  • Help. I'm looking for New birth song called "Your love is" It's on The Mighty Army Album from 1977

  • It's you baby...it's you... It's you baby, baby you, you, you, yeah yeah yeah,

  • such an awesome song, much better than skylarks version way better.

  • WHATEVER!!! that's just my opinion thank you!!

  • I got a love jones!

  • This is not R&B its Soul for real. They were soul singers,...that's where you hear it in Your soul Straight up. I wish the would do a reunion. The lead vocalist...his voice...is out of sight...so soulful, so full the lyrics are awesome. You really belive in the Wildflower when you hear this...they make you want to hear the wildflower.

  • yes the lead is 4 REAL
