The MD-11 is the only connection I have between my family :)

I fly with KLM to my Mom in Holland and to my Dad in Miami all the time :)

Een PAPI "meet" helemaal niks, het is een set van 4 lampen die zo zijn afgesteld dat een piloot, die goed op het glidepath zit, 2 witte lampen, en 2 rode lampen ziet.

ILS meet ook niks, het zijn alleen signalen die opgevangen worden door een piloot of de ILS ontvangers bij het neuswiel van het vliegtuig.

Voor grote kisten zoals de MD-11 en B747 is het normaal om met 3 wit te vliegen.

@MartiniB87 Het klopt wel degelijk wat ik zeg ;) Op short final en vlak voor touchdown is het normaal om 3 wit te vliegen met een grote kist zoals de 747 en MD-11, dit vanwege de grootte van het toestel.

@MartiniB87 Ik weet hoe een PAPI werkt.. Het gaat erom dat bij grote vliegtuigen zoals de 747 en MD-11 het standard procedure is bij de KLM om vlak voor touchdown 3 wit te vliegen, dit heeft voormalig chef 747 vloot bij de KLM mij verteld tijdens mijn MCC cursus. Met een 777 zou het weer net anders kunnen zijn :)

i remember when i flew to the netherlands with my family when i was 12, the flight got earlier without our knowing and we had to take another flight the day after to france and drive all the way to the netherlands through belgium, it wasnt that bad but when we got to the "central park" or something like this another family got our house...
