  • J'ai regardé cet film,et le film n'a pas vieilli très bien, tant pis... Cependant, la scène ici avec les masques était fantastique!

  • One of us was beaten by this "dead" bird.

  • Disques Cinemusique has just released a CD compilation devoted to the Unpublished French Film Music by Maurice Jarre, including the best excerpts from JUDEX. The new digital recording produced by Robert Lafond is very similar to the original sound track.

  • music by Maurice Jarre

  • The Hitchcock 'birds' are after the person that disliked this video.

  • Did Kubrick ever cite this as an influence on Eyes Wide Shut?

  • The finest black and white film of 1963.

  • Very "Them Crooked Vulture", no?

  • Maravilha!

  • love this, thx for uploading ♥

  • FYI, this scene features the classic magician Channing Pollock.

  • A beautiful music by Maurice Jarre !

  • Actually George Franju dedicates this movie to Louis Feuillade.

  • Those bird masks are out of this world.

  • This particular sequence is exquisite, but it seems to have more in common with one of Feuillade's FANTOMAS episodes--can't remember the name of it at the moment, but it's the one that features a masquerade. The men masked as ravens/blackbirds and prominent at 1:00 are the FANTOMAS memory trigger.

  • Actually George Franju dedicates this movie to Louis Feuillade.

  • Yes, of course.

  • The original was far more interesting to me (just my oppinion). You clearly saw where the creator of Batman got his inspiration.

  • Cette scène est vraiment belle, j'ai hâte de voir le film.

  • Does anybody know the name of the song?

  • @arji1982 It's Maurice Jarre orignal score for the film. You can find it on record.

  • And great music !!(maurice jarre)

  • Absolutely wonderful! I must get this as soon as possible.

  • Thanks for posting this sequence! I saw this around 1973 at a Surrealist film festival at the LA Museum of Art, and I've wanted to see it again ever since.

    Right out of Max Ernst!

  • I saw the film about ten years ago at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles -- loved the surreal elements -- it was wonderful and unforgettable! Highly recommend it! I am buying the DVD -- I really searched for it for years!

  • Judex will be out on DVD (Masters of Cinema) next month.

  • Oh thankyou so much for uploading this! First saw this clip on a UK arts programme about the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and perfectly accompanied by "Numbers 1-4". It has haunted me ever since!

  • Excellent video quality. It's shameful that Franju has not been better served on video. We need JUDEX, THERESE DESQUEROUX, THOMAS THE IMPOSTER, etc. Perhaps Criterion's Eclipse line?

  • Yes! Where are all of the films? Who's relegated them to litigation limbo?

  • you can get them on lovefilm so they must b out on dvd at amazon they rock
