  • i like the gun but id rather have irons

  • didn't they just kill the mod division???

  • @huskyoverlord sorry didn't get to the part where you said it , cool ass gun and don't know why they killed the division either. Single stack is our own USPSA division and how many would be pissed if they just said bye bye to single stacked?

  • @huskyoverlord I think they killed modified to make room for "classic" I think classic is single stack or something. There is definitely some politics there.

  • @nictaylor00 once again us pushy americans telling eveyone else what to do:) If it was up to me I would bring modified to the US and bring single stack to the rest of the world. another division wouldn't break us.

  • @huskyoverlord I think thats what they wanted to do, was to bring single stack to the rest of the world. (I could be wrong on that), but in order to do it easily, they just killed off modified and changed the name Modified to Classic in the scoring program so the scoring software did not have to be redone. Which apparently was a big issue. this is just a theory I heard.

  • @nictaylor00 I think it's sad we should be promoting firearms not killing them:) Maybe because modified is too close to open and single stacked is a far cry from limited , and you can't ask everyone in america to own 40 1911's:)

  • @huskyoverlord From what I heard Modified is only relatively popular in only a few countries, so it was an easy target.

  • @nictaylor00 It was a popular in here too.. Well we had some 20+ shooters or so. I was in WS2011 and shot the match with my Modified Tanfoglio 9mm. Only problem I had, was that ported slide broke only 4 days before the WS, so I didnt have time to do new ported slide. Only had time to cut the slide so it fitted the box. But I shot with OMA and worked ok.

  • Wow. Heckuva gun.

  • Just put up a response video of machining one of the basepad prototypes. I think I made about 30 versions before getting the design, capacity and fit to the box perfect.

  • Oh yeah. Me & the gun placed #15 at the 2011 World Shoot and a few weeks later won the 2011 US IPSC Nationals.

  • Hi everybody, here are a few more trick features on the gun

-- The bolts holding the scope and the nub on the blast shield act as a backup iron sight for quick location of the dot in odd positions

-- The custom scope mount has a groove that lowers the sight and lets me drop in a pre-sighted spare (this is important with the STS)

-- The frame weights up front are tungsten-- heavier than lead

-- The XX on the basepad grip surface means the mag holds 20 rounds

  • Great vid. Thanks for the explanations.

  • 100 yards with a dinky barrel, that's impressive, god knows what thing would cost retail, flip it for a rightie... too bad it had to fit in the box, if he doubled down on the comp it would reduce the flip. i'd almost let ya borrow my 686 with an 8-3/8" barrel to see what you could do with that! nice vid!

  • @mrbadx19 It recoiled much more than my open gun. BUT, the dot only bounced straight up and back down to the center of the red dot scope. My wifes open gun does that. On my open gun, the dot kinda "squiggles" around in the middle of the red dot scope & returns to center. I can tune both guns to do either with changing the bullet weight. My wifes likes the rise and fall and I like the squiggle. BTW, the squiggle tends to hurt the hand more. I think thats why she likes the rise & fall

  • @mrbadx19 but a bigger comp will definitely make a difference. I have an N frame 357 with a 4 inch barrel. I may have to take it out and see what I can do.

  • that is a bitchin handgun. i think it looks amazing

  • @FiveTwoSevenTHR Yep, Shred is a lefty. I have a link to his YT channel in the description.

  • @nictaylor00 Posted that comment before watching the whole video lol.

  • @FiveTwoSevenTHR LOL! Not too worry. I think a lot of people do that :)

  • @TexasNative00 oops, I was signed into my other channel. This is NicTaylor00

  • @TexasNative00 I already knew lol, I was about to call you on it too but you took the fun away!

  • Fascinating! ~thanks

  • Haha that's pretty cool! Just learned a lot from this video thanks!

  • You said it was an STI frame but I didn't hear if you said who made the top end. Do you know what kind of barrel it had? I have seen STI subcompacts shoot very well at 20 to 30 yards but 100 is really something.

  • @Farside26 I'll check with Shred on the barrel brand. The gun was built by Shred and Dawson Precision. Dawson is semi local to our location and is a fantastic gunsmith. He got his training at STI in the early days and then branched off. Shred is the one that made the comp. From what I hear he went through a few designs until he settled on that one.

  • @nictaylor00 Dave Dawson worked at STI but most certainly did not get his training there. Just a little necessary clarification...

  • @DawsonPrecision thanks for clarifying that.

  • @Farside26 Shred is not sure what barrel it is. It was chosen from a bunch of parts that Dawson had on hand. Most likely it is a Barsto barrel.

  • That is interesting.. it is precision made to just _barely_ fit in the box.

That explains why the Red-Dot Sight is so small.

  • @ResponsibleCitizen64 Yep, I think alot of the modified guns may not have a red dot at all. If you have a copy of Front Site magazine, you can see Shred2DotNet shooting this pistol in the article about the World Shoot in Greece.

  • Very unique pistol. Thanks for the video!

  • Thank you very much for another Outstanding video. Well done!

  • I always wondered what one of those looked like up close. Fascinating!

  • Very cool gun, i have seen a gun like that before and i does fit in the box, cool!!

    Greetings from Holland.

    P.S. I shoot ipsc with a cz 75 sp-01 shadow 9mm.

  • @Gunsfromholland I love the SP-01! I've been wanting to get one for Production division but I know as soon as I do I wont shoot my 92F anymore :)

  • Great review!!! I saw quite some modified guns, but that gun is definitely amongst weirdest :) The reason behind why they deleted Modified is that there was not many shooters shooting it and it' was pretty expensive division to shoot. Now we have Classic division instead Modified, which is very similar to Single stack in USPSA.

  • @TheMaksable I also heard that besides not too many shooters were shooting modified, they wanted to introduce the CLASSIC division you mentioned. The software for scoring would have had to be revamped, and it was just easier to remove the division for Modified and replace/rename it with classic. But who knows. I'm sure there was other reasons too.

  • That is probably a great firearm but I think it is hideous.

  • @BALJIT147 Agreed! It was amazingly accurate.

  • Roy's, pretty cool, he placed well.

Who knows about International politics.. haha..

The story about how many comps he machined out till he liked one was pretty funny...

  • very nice gun
