I beat Ozma on second try, before getting all friendly monsters. Think i used Zidane, Vivi, Quina and Eiko. Not as high level as these. Only used zidane to steal his shit. Quina for blue magic and dispell, Eiko as healer and dispeller, Vivi as main attack force.

@redryder90 Yeah....while this guy makes him look easy, it takes a bit for you to get high enough to be able to beat him and if you don't use online strategies, it may take a bit before you find something that works. Took me a bit when I was younger, but it made the defeating moment MUCH more enjoyable. XD
Another thing: Why do people hate this game so much? Everytime I bring it up, people knock this game so hard they make it look like Drakkhen or Silent Service, sup with that??
I have just finished this fight, and all I can say is that it wan't any difficult. I, in fact, fought him just to "scout" his abilities and come up with a strategy to beat him, having heard that it's a really tough boss. I had Zidane, Steiner, Vivi and garnet. He started with doomsday, which killed my 2 mages. After that, I constantly attacked, and attacked...and attacked, and finally, he went down. he used once 2 Curagas in a turn, holy, berserker and death, which did nothing.58lv
It is actually a dead eidolon that lost his original form and became an amorphous being or simply a mass of black and white energy.
That's why he looks like a ball, but in truth its form is a "planet", for some reason he both represents Gaia (the white top half) and Terra (the black bottom half) bound together.
Wait, My Brother said that when you are in Memoria then you can't go back to Gaia. But the Mace of Zues is in the Memoria so how can you past through Gaia? Of course I was thinking of the Doomsday which Vivi will learn. REPLY PLEASE!
@Posiden468 They probably made it look like a "flying marble" because Ozma apparently was an ooold Eidolon that the summoners forgot about (and according to some of the secret writings in FF9, Eidolons manifest from people's legends/memories, and not the other way around). Thus, Ozma must be a big lump of memories that has no shape because it's been forgotten. :c
well i grinded a lot with the granddragons in this manner in disc 2 or 1 at a very low level (reflecting spell on all party members)
never really got to appreciate ff7 the way i appreciated ff9. probably because i only fully realized the more hardcore approach of rpg gaming when i was playing ff9.
FF9 is my favourite FF UNTIL Disk 3... Then it gets kinda... Bad... FF8 was probably my favourite, then 4, then 6, then 13, then 7, then 12, then 10, then 1. They're all 5/5 stars in my book though. Good Job on the fight Mr Uploader lol.

I think when I beat Ozma, everybody but eiko was dead and by an act of God she auto-casted the Phoenix summon and got everyone back up. I was like whoa o.o
Hey everybody, can somebody please tell me what that arrow pointing up on each of the characters is? Also, which are the best party members to always have? Im using Vivi, Quinna, and Amarent.
@yoznfroogurt The arrow pointing up means that the player has Auto-Haste on them. Also "best party members" are subjective. Once you have them all in right levels, everyone is strong. Zidane's Thievery, Vivi's Flare, Doomsday, and Meteor, Steiner's Shock and Climhazzard, Amarant's Throw and No Mercy, Dagger's Eidolons (ARK), Eiko's Eidolons (Madeen) and Holy, Freya's Dragon Crest, and Quina's Frog Drop and Matra Magic. Everyone has ups and downs but my final party for Necron was the first party.
@yoznfroogurt Oh, so does that mean you have 2 white magicians? I mean Zidane, Dagger, Eiko and Steiner? Well that might work but less on the offensive side. Before fighting ozma I tend to grind real hard to increase their AP. I defeated Ozma with Zidane, Steiner, Amarant and Quina. All of them in their 60's but Zidane was 70+ I think. Fight Grand Dragons and Yans for easy levels.

ANGEL SNACK HELPS WITH CURSE! s/he had autohaste/life/regen, insomniac,antibody, and clearheaded. EVERYONE HAD AN EGOIST armlet which negated shadow dmage, steiner& quina had PUMICE PIECES(absorb shadow)
im second guessing bringing my freya for her dragons crest... amarant is a much better offensive and defensive fighter. he has aura which gives autoregen&life, so i prefer him.. Zidane has autolife/haste/brighteyes, clear headed, auto reflect,& antibody.. steiner has (auto)haste/life/ hp+10%,bright eyes, clearheaded&antibody. freya& amarant have the same as steiner, and quina has auto Regen, haste loudmouth clearheaded, and autoreflect.. it has worked okay with me so far... gonna try again.
@misha1137, and also since this isnt my first play through( im playing on my psp. i beat it for ps.) but um, i didnt go to black mage village in disc 3 yet.. just got the hilda garde 3, &have 2 pumicepieces, u wont need them though.
first of all, switch Dagger out for Quina. Blue Magic is better , b.c of Angel Snack( throws everyone a remedy if Ozma uses curse), then equip quina and zidane with an Egoist's armlet (zero shadow damage) and then give steiner and freya demon's mail(absorbs shadow)
@misha1137 im going to do it lmao. ive been able to deal atleast 20k damage to him using Amarant, Steiner,Zidane, and Quina.
Zidane isnt allowed to anything except steal... his theivery only does about 3k... Steiner uses darkside, and he does 9999.. Quina has 97 frogs,(because i dont feel like battling quale yet.) and her frog drop does about 5000. then i also have Amarant who i personally like to use because of his "aura" skill, however, im switching him for freya for her dragoncrest attack.
Give me thumb up, if you always considered Quina as female =) Don´t give me thumb up at all, if you think he´s male. I´m really curious, how many people actually share same opinion :)

I took this team to face him my first time, all around lvl 65- Zidane, Dagger, Steiner, and Freya. I only landed one attack, Dragon's Crest, before he killed my team. His speed is incredibly high, I couldn't revive or heal anyone with auto-haste, auto-life, and auto-regen active on my team. I thought they were invincible until I faced him D: But, dammit! I need that Pumice!
Heck, yeah! I finally beat him. Got lucky with a meteor he used too since it didn't damage me that much. Zidane, Freya, Quina and Eiko. Level 81 for Zidane and 79 for the rest.
This guy is an ass. Just fought him with Zidane, Freya, Vivi and Eiko and he slaughtered me so fast it wasn't even funny. Level 81, 79, 79, 79 in that order.
ALRIGHT ALL, HOLD ALL THE HATE ABOUT FF7. simple fact, it is one of the greatest games of all times. Sephiroth did far more then just stand around, he slaughtered Nibelheim, sephiroth is very much one of the greatest villains of all times. Those must play the game thoroughly to understand just how amazing it is. Its not only the best final fantasy, but one of the best games ever.
Sephirtoh killed a single town and sat in a crater for the entire game, Kefka and Kuja destroyed an entire world, who do you thinks more close to "greatest villains of all time"

@kKid23z3 Final Fantasy has terrible villains as a general rule of thumb. FF6 probably has the best of the lot, and that's only because Kefka set out to blow up the world and actually succeeded.

FF8 lacks on story. you can build the ultimate weapons at the begining, you can make thousands of money at the begining without even fighting... although a great game

FF7 and FFX owns all FFs. If only FFX had world map to explore...

@vashsfk Triple Triad? Agreed. Spreading and erasing rules from regions was stressful but worth it; amazing minigame. FF8 has a grand storyline, and imo, the best ending dungeon of any FF ever! That ending was SO fun and challenging.

I love #7 but #'s 1 - 7 are my favorite because they are ridiculously great. #'s 5 and 6 are even 9000x better than number seven and IX doesn't have shit on the first 5. Like you, I grew up with the FF series, and that may be a good reason why I enjoyed FF9 the most out of the later FFs (the ones after FF6). There is so much to do with it and how to obtain it. Then there are secret characters like Yuffie and definitely Vincent (the average player, meaning beginner to FF7) wouldn't know how to get him or even knows that he exists.

Speaking of sidequests, though, I miss them, and all the secrets you have to unravel... FF13 lost that completely; almost doesn't feel like an FF sometimes... :'(
@Kupo923 On a personal note, I agree, I found IX to be the one I enjoyed the most. VII is a damn good game, don't get me wrong, but it's actually no better than many of the others. For example, X was the first I played, I enjoyed it immensely, then noticed that Dawn of Souls was out on GBA, I played them and loved them too, within the next few years, I made sure I got every single one I could. I must say though, I didn't enjoy VIII at all...

FF7 is a good game but ff9 has a really good story as well... and if you really followed it, you would know that KUJA is the real villain and not that queen... the queen is nothing compared to kuja.

@SOF2Marine well, i heard that 8 has an annoying system for doing things, the junctioning or whatever. so i was going to play 9 but is it about as hard as 7 or harder?
i'm sure you'll get use to the system in FF8 ;]. Final fantasy 9 is actually really easy as long as you know the right abilities to put on and equipment for bosses you will have no trouble at all.
the hardest boss in the game (ozma) is the only challenge and i beat him at level 60. he's hard at low level but if you get lucky with his attacks you can defeat him pretty quick ( i know the best party members for dealing 100% 9999 damage even at low level)
on another note, the video maker says the only way to defeat ozma first try is to have it cast doomsday...that's not true at all ... i beat ozma without it first casting doomsday.
you just need to have the right abilities, equipment and party members to defeat this sidequest boss. since this is the hardest boss in the game, you can just imagine how easy the real storyline is (at least for me anyways)
also, if you haven't played final fantasy 6 i'd recommend you play it :D. it's really good and i'm sure you would like it. Final Fantasy 4 (ds version) is amazing as well and very hard :P. probably one of the hardest FF games, just make sure it's the DS version (any other version of FF4 is easy) if you prefer an easy version of the game than you don't need to get the DS version, and can get the psp version instead. just throwing out some suggestions for ya! :]
Oh and about the PSP version of FF4, it's not really easy, it's actually only a little easier than the DS version. so if you have a psp, that's a good game for you to get. final fantasy 6 is one of the best FF games but the only remake of it is for GBA and it's not really that much of a remake. there yet to make a realremake on an actual good system -.-

note: if you haven't played suikoden 1 (ps1,psn), you should get on that shit. first played it and beat it in late late 96-ear97 and again '10 and its just as good the second time. That game can atleast hold ff7's pocket

i did it just by a miracle lmao i was on disc 3 still. and i beat ozma. the thing was i used zidanelvl63, steiner lvl 59, amarant lvl 53, and quina lvl 59. they all had on auto regen/haste/ and life.. then zidane had hp+20%, steiner had hp+10%, amarant had return magic, which really helped.. and quina had frogdrop that was doing 7716 damage. my thing was that steiner went into trance, so ozma kept trying to use beserk on him. and then he wasted turns casting curaga

I have just finished this fight, and all I can say is that it wan't any difficult. I, in fact, fought him just to "scout" his abilities and come up with a strategy to beat him, having heard that it's a really tough boss. I had Zidane, Steiner, Vivi and garnet. He started with doomsday, which killed my 2 mages. After that, I constantly attacked, and attacked...and attacked, and finally, he went down. he used once 2 Curagas in a turn, holy, berserker and death, which did nothing.58lv

It is actually a dead eidolon that lost his original form and became an amorphous being or simply a mass of black and white energy.
That's why he looks like a ball, but in truth its form is a "planet", for some reason he both represents Gaia (the white top half) and Terra (the black bottom half) bound together.
It is another unique boss in some odd way.

@Posiden468 They probably made it look like a "flying marble" because Ozma apparently was an ooold Eidolon that the summoners forgot about (and according to some of the secret writings in FF9, Eidolons manifest from people's legends/memories, and not the other way around). Thus, Ozma must be a big lump of memories that has no shape because it's been forgotten. :c

well i grinded a lot with the granddragons in this manner in disc 2 or 1 at a very low level (reflecting spell on all party members)
never really got to appreciate ff7 the way i appreciated ff9. probably because i only fully realized the more hardcore approach of rpg gaming when i was playing ff9.

All the FF's are good, but for me this is the best because it REALLY IS a Fantasy.

FF9 is my favourite FF UNTIL Disk 3... Then it gets kinda... Bad... FF8 was probably my favourite, then 4, then 6, then 13, then 7, then 12, then 10, then 1. They're all 5/5 stars in my book though. Good Job on the fight Mr Uploader lol.

ppl say this battle is hard its actually not if u know what to do.
1- equip all shadow absorbing gears. (ninja gear, pumice,demon's mail)
2- equip: isomaniac, bright eyes ,jelly, locomotion, and clear headed on ALL characters. because ozma can cast curse(all status ailments)
3- recommanded: zidance use theivery, and quina use frog drop, because they can cast 9999 damage unconditionally

I think when I beat Ozma, everybody but eiko was dead and by an act of God she auto-casted the Phoenix summon and got everyone back up. I was like whoa o.o

Hey everybody, can somebody please tell me what that arrow pointing up on each of the characters is? Also, which are the best party members to always have? Im using Vivi, Quinna, and Amarent.

@yoznfroogurt The arrow pointing up means that the player has Auto-Haste on them. Also "best party members" are subjective. Once you have them all in right levels, everyone is strong. Zidane's Thievery, Vivi's Flare, Doomsday, and Meteor, Steiner's Shock and Climhazzard, Amarant's Throw and No Mercy, Dagger's Eidolons (ARK), Eiko's Eidolons (Madeen) and Holy, Freya's Dragon Crest, and Quina's Frog Drop and Matra Magic. Everyone has ups and downs but my final party for Necron was the first party.

@yoznfroogurt Oh, so does that mean you have 2 white magicians? I mean Zidane, Dagger, Eiko and Steiner? Well that might work but less on the offensive side. Before fighting ozma I tend to grind real hard to increase their AP. I defeated Ozma with Zidane, Steiner, Amarant and Quina. All of them in their 60's but Zidane was 70+ I think. Fight Grand Dragons and Yans for easy levels.

I just beat ozma w/ ZIDANE lvl 63, autolife,haste,regen,hp+20%,antibody,insomniac,brighteyes,and clearheaded
STEINER lvl59, autohaste/life hp+10%,chemist,autopotion,antibody,brighteyes,& clearheaded
AMARANT lvl 53, autohaste/life,antibody, RETURN MAGIC =important &clearheaded. QUINA lvl59
ANGEL SNACK HELPS WITH CURSE! s/he had autohaste/life/regen, insomniac,antibody, and clearheaded. EVERYONE HAD AN EGOIST armlet which negated shadow dmage, steiner& quina had PUMICE PIECES(absorb shadow)

im second guessing bringing my freya for her dragons crest... amarant is a much better offensive and defensive fighter. he has aura which gives autoregen&life, so i prefer him.. Zidane has autolife/haste/brighteyes, clear headed, auto reflect,& antibody.. steiner has (auto)haste/life/ hp+10%,bright eyes, clearheaded&antibody. freya& amarant have the same as steiner, and quina has auto Regen, haste loudmouth clearheaded, and autoreflect.. it has worked okay with me so far... gonna try again.

@misha1137, and also since this isnt my first play through( im playing on my psp. i beat it for ps.) but um, i didnt go to black mage village in disc 3 yet.. just got the hilda garde 3, &have 2 pumicepieces, u wont need them though.
first of all, switch Dagger out for Quina. Blue Magic is better , b.c of Angel Snack( throws everyone a remedy if Ozma uses curse), then equip quina and zidane with an Egoist's armlet (zero shadow damage) and then give steiner and freya demon's mail(absorbs shadow)

@misha1137 im going to do it lmao. ive been able to deal atleast 20k damage to him using Amarant, Steiner,Zidane, and Quina.
Zidane isnt allowed to anything except steal... his theivery only does about 3k... Steiner uses darkside, and he does 9999.. Quina has 97 frogs,(because i dont feel like battling quale yet.) and her frog drop does about 5000. then i also have Amarant who i personally like to use because of his "aura" skill, however, im switching him for freya for her dragoncrest attack.

I took this team to face him my first time, all around lvl 65- Zidane, Dagger, Steiner, and Freya. I only landed one attack, Dragon's Crest, before he killed my team. His speed is incredibly high, I couldn't revive or heal anyone with auto-haste, auto-life, and auto-regen active on my team. I thought they were invincible until I faced him D: But, dammit! I need that Pumice!

Sephiroth did far more then just stand around, he slaughtered Nibelheim, sephiroth is very much one of the greatest villains of all times. They're biased simply because FF7 happens to be "the first" RPG for a lot of gamers of our generation. FF8 lacks on story. you can build the ultimate weapons at the begining, you can make thousands of money at the begining without even fighting... although a great game
FF9, zidane its useless to everything exept attacking or stealing the bosses, and zekdom (user above) said the rest.
FF7 and FFX owns all FFs. If only FFX had world map to explore...

Also, FF8 had a fairly intricate story, and Zidane didn't make up the entirety of FF9 (not liking one character shouldn't make the entire game shit, so you'll need to further explain that).

I love Zidane and his womanizer personality. Actually, i think the game is well made in terms of caracters. I didn't said the game sucked, i just said it isn't as good as VII or X, for example. I love the game but the last boss its kinda random and agreed with what zekdom said.

I love #7 but #'s 1 - 7 are my favorite because they are ridiculously great. #'s 5 and 6 are even 9000x better than number seven and IX doesn't have shit on the first 5. There is so much to do with it and how to obtain it. Then there are secret characters like Yuffie and definitely Vincent (the average player, meaning beginner to FF7) wouldn't know how to get him or even knows that he exists.

@Kupo923 On a personal note, I agree, I found IX to be the one I enjoyed the most. VII is a damn good game, don't get me wrong, but it's actually no better than many of the others. For example, X was the first I played, I enjoyed it immensely, then noticed that Dawn of Souls was out on GBA, I played them and loved them too, within the next few years, I made sure I got every single one I could. I must say though, I didn't enjoy VIII at all...

i'm sure you'll get use to the system in FF8 ;]. Final fantasy 9 is actually really easy as long as you know the right abilities to put on and equipment for bosses you will have no trouble at all.
the hardest boss in the game (ozma) is the only challenge and i beat him at level 60. he's hard at low level but if you get lucky with his attacks you can defeat him pretty quick ( i know the best party members for dealing 100% 9999 damage even at low level)

on another note, the video maker says the only way to defeat ozma first try is to have it cast doomsday...that's not true at all ... i beat ozma without it first casting doomsday.
you just need to have the right abilities, equipment and party members to defeat this sidequest boss. since this is the hardest boss in the game, you can just imagine how easy the real storyline is (at least for me anyways)

also, if you haven't played final fantasy 6 i'd recommend you play it :D. it's really good and i'm sure you would like it. Final Fantasy 4 (ds version) is amazing as well and very hard :P. probably one of the hardest FF games, just make sure it's the DS version (any other version of FF4 is easy) if you prefer an easy version of the game than you don't need to get the DS version, and can get the psp version instead. just throwing out some suggestions for ya! :]

Oh and about the PSP version of FF4, it's not really easy, it's actually only a little easier than the DS version. so if you have a psp, that's a good game for you to get. final fantasy 6 is one of the best FF games but the only remake of it is for GBA and it's not really that much of a remake. there yet to make a realremake on an actual good system -.-

ff8 sucks. go for ff9. it recreated the magic of the earlier ones. but yea, it's pretty easy.

note: if you haven't played suikoden 1 (ps1,psn), you should get on that shit. first played it and beat it in late late 96-ear97 and again '10 and its just as good the second time. That game can atleast hold ff7's pocket

@thunderfish22 no no dont mistake me, EVERYTHING 7 esque they did game and movie wise after the actual game was crap i totally agree but, recently replaying through 7 has shown me that even if you dont think its the best FF ever, you cant really deny its one of the most solid titles they've ever made, the effort the creators put into it alone says that despite any fans opinions on the issue

i did it just by a miracle lmao i was on disc 3 still. and i beat ozma. the thing was i used zidanelvl63, steiner lvl 59, amarant lvl 53, and quina lvl 59. they all had on auto regen/haste/ and life.. then zidane had hp+20%, steiner had hp+10%, amarant had return magic, which really helped.. and quina had frogdrop that was doing 7716 damage. my thing was that steiner went into trance, so ozma kept trying to use beserk on him. and then he wasted turns casting curaga
