No need to apologize :-). I knew of the one area that had two tornadoes, I didn't know there was a second funnel in Kankakee as well. One hell of an outbreak for Illinois this time of year.
I've never heard of an attending funnel cloud and I've been a spotter for some time. Those screen shots do help a lot though. It really is too bad that this whole event happened after dark. These storms even with the lightning had amazing structure. Thanks for responding though :-)
Not a problem. I say attending funnel cloud because it is "attending" the tornado that is on the ground. Streator was ALMOST hit by two tornadoes two different areas of town simultaneously. Really it's just a second funnel cloud. sorry for my "lingo" haha.
What you are seeing there is the attending funnel cloud. I posted a couple of screenshots on my photobucket account for image hosting. The links are NOW in my description of the video.

Please understand the sun was set. This is called NIGHT SPOTTING. you rely on lightning to capture the tornado. If you don't know what your looking for or looking for footage like something out of twister move to hollywood.

I was heading to my Grandmas house on South-lawn Drive around 8:50 just as the tornado came though Streator. And believe me the winds were Crazy. And to tell you the truth me and my mom had no clue the tornado was hitting Powell street, coal street and south otter creek street and a few others when we were heading to my grandmas house. Streator is declared a disaster area.
UPDATE: I compressed the video too much. you rely on lightning flashes to catch the tornado. I will urge you all to read the description. As stated before 1:26 is a good pause time to see it. I cannot BRIGHTEN THE video up. this was shot as the sun was just setting. so please UNDERSTAND that it's dark and you rely on lightning to see the wedge. I will upload new updated video of better quality this evening or tomorrow morning
The more modifications & resaves you make, the more resolution it'll lose. Most vid formats use compression techniques which are very lossy. When you film, try to plan it so that you don't have to cut or modify later and just upload the original.
At a morning news conference, Streator Mayor Jimmie Lansford said 17 people were taken to a local hospital for treatment, though he didn't have information on their conditions. He also said 30 buildings had "major structural damage." The city of Streator is being described as a “war zone” that was completely leveled by last nights storms.
I saw this last night on my way home from a party in Normal, IL. We were going north on I-55 and we saw the police officers spotting the tornado. Pulled over. We couldn't see it until all of a sudden POP.. BRIGHT green light from the power lines popping and that light would light up the tornado. Was AMAZING! We watched it cross I-55 and move into a town (Streator?) on the east side of I-55. First tornado I've ever seen. Scary as hell.
I can see some of this when you get to the funnel cloud. I was so nervous last night because that's my hometown and I have lots of family and friends there. I'm glad to know everyone is okay but damage is bad. I told my family I will do anything to help. Thanks for the video.
I don't have any software to edit any videos but I have one using my night vision goggles from Iraq of this tornado and video of my department with the clean up efforts.
The tornado was pretty big, did a lot of destruction to the south side of down. Many injured and leveled houses. The southside diamonds and james street diamonds are said to be completely destroyed also.
how big was the tornado? i live in ottawa i went to streator afterwards but we were turned around. they didnt even let freinds retrieve there valueable items.

I can see it. It is at the 1:26/1:27 mark. When the lightning flashes, it is to the left of the screen. Small tornado.

Thanks and please be careful. I've been through two on the road and a guy was killed right behind me in the first one.
You can see the tornado briefly at about the 1:26 mark. It almost appears as if there is a satellite tornado as well.
