@MrMetalheadtildeath I think it's a good thing that this doesn't sound entirely like the Journey we all know and love. Revelation was great but after making so many albums in the "classic" style, a change was necessary. I honestly think is the best album they've ever made.
YOU may think that this is Journey's "best album" but the American public AND more importantly, the sales of this album are more important to their record company. Record companies are in business to make money just like you go to work to make money. Journey's "Generations" album sold so poorly that at one of their concerts that album was being given away for free because the sales were so poor. Great music doesn't always equal great sales. There are many things that effect sales as well.
This is possibly one of Journey's most solid, fresh and best albums in a long time. The band just can't keep releasing the same album over again and it's a shame that most of the people who hate this album was expecting 80s Journey.

look, lets be honest, no one is ever going to replace Mr Perry. He co-wrote the classics and this shows in the way he performs - full of emotion...He believes in the lyrics.... I Saw Journey recently and you know what ? - Arnel is a decent rock singer and it gave me a chance to see the journey songs perfomed ( albeit without Mr Perry )
Just heard these guys won't be playing the Escape album for it's 30th year Anniversary... Thank God! Arnel's good no doubt, but the difference between him and Perry is obvious. Let Perry be the only voice we remember on the classics and let Arnel have the new stuff.
The change is the only thing that no change, so congratulations to this group that is not afraid of changes and no matter what happens, they never cease to bring us good and inspirational music. From time to time we need to change to survive.
Journey is just not the same without Steve Perry, but still pretty good! Journey rocks in any era be it 70's or 80's and on.
