  • Captures the (Beethovian) dynamic energy of this movement so well - this IS the Seventh Symphony afer all! Better than Katsaris, or anybody else I've yet heard. The Beethoven/Liszt symphonies are much more elusive than people think.. Well done and thanks Pasquale..

  • destruction, fierce, grudge, and betrayal...sound of evil immortals..... beautiful..

  • now I know how he treats and threats whores

  • a little more humanity in this piece is required... joy should be expressed in this work, not fierce...

  • bad piani playa. 2 many mistakez init. pm me 4 tipz blud

  • hey !!!

    Relax !!!

  • This is how piano should be played

  • MONSTRUEUX

  • this piece is too much for the ear. 40 instruments condensed into 2 hands. liszt went too far im afraid here

  • Ah-ha-ha, this video gave me a bunch of healthy laughter as this Gouldian manner to hum is really hilarious. But we should notice that Gould used to sing when the piano was incapable of expressing the pianists's intentions. And mr. Iannone rattles as if he was pulling an enormous log or pushing through a blocked door.

That's a great idea to add a new jewel to the brilliant 'shreds' series on YT. The video editor must add as much grunting as possible.

Still, I love Pasquale's manner of playing!

  • @f1f1s Humming? That seems grunting to me...

  • @f1f1s wtf did any of that mean

  • @f1f1s ???

  • ברבו!

  • מעולה פסקואל!

  • すげー

  • Bravo Pasquale!

  • I feel energized just watching this.

  • Comment removed

  • is it me or is someone grunting at 5:28 and again at 7:03??

  • !!!DiStoRteD AudiO!!!

  • GOD DAMMIT LISZT.

  • it's great but I think the end got a bit too discordant. I'm not blaming the pianist, Im' blaming Liszt haha. The bassy chords overpower the actual melody and it sounds far more dissonant then the orchestral version. otherwise wonderful--- all of his beethoven symphony transcriptions are great

  • I think Beethoven himself would love this. Not just because it's his music- he also loved to beat up the piano himself. ;)

  • i like liszt but everything can't be played on piano

  • @amir2980 anyway, this can.

  • BRAVO!!!!!

  • at first i was like.... -_-, then i waz like "OMG WTF! AWESOME!"

  • Dude u r the man!

  • UNBELIEVABLE...

    PHENOMENAL...

    BRAVISSIMO

  • No dry goods store for this young man!

  • Whoa, this piece is pretty insaanne! He plays it so fast!

  • hores get treated better than this instrument!

  • I was thinking that the piano will be on fire on minute 3:40...But...only my head was in flames XD...Amazing *-*

  • magnificent!

  • Exciting with a couple mistakes is waaay better than no mistakes but boring. This is a really exciting performance. Bravo.

  • o.o

  • That's just not fair to the piano. :P

  • Holy shit, if you listen carefully, you hear him groaning and grunting.

  • Incredible...

Pasquale: please upload the first movement!! Per favore!

    Saluti dalla Colombia

  • this guy looks like Hamelin~

  • man :/ i just learned furelise and now i have to play this!?!?! ^^

  • increible e la ostia sagrada este tio lo hace de puta madre como le van los dedos

  • fuuuuck... this is epic.

  • @willc2856 I could not have said it better myself.

  • Este pianista tiene vivacidad al interpretar. Muy bueno: más que talento, demuestra sentimiento.

  • Bad ass. Yeah, I didn't hear the mistakes, but its been awhile since i've been behind the keys. You'da man kyle.

  • i think if we calculated his margin of error there might be a consideration. but i guess his mistakes were the duration of notes. it is because there are too many notes so probably he can't cope up with the duration of notes anymore. well, i think too that it is irrelevant, because it's an orchestral version. hehehe. good work.

  • omg

  • The orcheseral version is ofcourse better but this is quit cool to

  • i would consider myself a pianist if i considered playing that...

yeah, ill stick to clementi for now.

  • @phoolisness Hey, I'm an advanced student and I still love Clementi! =)

  • Does he make any mistakes throughout this whole performance?

  • Comment removed

  • I heard quite a few at the beginning at least. Nonetheless a very talented pianist. It's a difficult piece by the sounds of it so we'll let him off..

  • The mistakes are irrelevant.

  • Mistakes are human and this is also a very difficult piece even for a concert pianist I guess.

  • I'm confident that it's harder than the hammerklavier sonata. It certainly has many more notes and though I have never worked on it, I've seen the score.

  • Muy bien lo felisito

  • wow

    unicamente unico

  • Very energetic, Mr. Iannone. Thank you.

If I could suggest, maybe it would sound more like the original if the accents are placed on the second beat, instead of on the first beat.

  • marvellous. no word for it.

  • are you sick?

  • He does battle with the song and the piano. Its sounds he's fighting it more than letting it flow out of him. More forced than joy bursting out. It could be more polished the naxos cd recording is perfect.

  • The "battle" is held between the piano and camera's microphone (or sound encoding setting). It's a pity that the recording sound is so bad. The performance as well as Liszt transcription is GREAT!

  • Is the point of music to marvel at the difficulty or to experience the emotion? I think a lot of classical music has lost its way.

  • all music is emotion. that is why music exists. this guy if full of emotion. and he goes nuts with emotion. he loses himself. grunts and curses god for the sake of playing this piece. for the sake of music.

i melt when i listen to this.

  • I f you melt listening to this transcription, try listening to the original version with full orchestra! Hard to believe someone could write music like this. The power and force of it.....wow! And yes, the pianist is outstanding. And gave a great performance!

  • buah! is veryy hard!....I think that no all the "pianist" can to play this...

  • .. era il mio maestro .. ma io non ho preso niente da lui, purtroppo!

  • daaaaaamn!

  • i dont have words

  • Extraordinario!

  • All pianists must thank Liszt whose inspiration

and great talent in both composition and virtuosity gave us all Beethoven's symphonies.

  • great!!i also practice hard!!!!!1

  • he doesnt even read notes!amazing!

  • Pianists hardly ever do on stage.

  • You know if you ever seen a pianist perfoming a concert you would notice that allmost nowone does that.

  • wicked!!!

  • that is insane. i'd love to be able to play the any beethoven

  • incredible

  • Well, do you have a fricking hundred stage lights glaring on you while you play in a three piece tuxedo, cause that tends to get pretty toasty.

  • not to mention having to move your arms so much. like 10 minutes of playing a piece like this is both a physical and mental workout. lol

  • I like this.

  • incredibile. non pensavo fosse possibile fare una sinfonia con il pianoforte

  • 25 seconds of watching a dude wipe his face then toss the hankie in the piano... great.

  • Well, just think what he was thinking. Maybe something like, good God, I'm going to play this? lol.

  • @SingHouse lol

  • I wish I could play like that ;.;

  • not bad...

  • hahahahahahaha

  • Génial !

  • I like peices that are fast and go into minor, can oneone recomend 1?

  • chopin etude 10 no. 1, 3, and 5

  • Does Chopin Op.10-5 go into minor? I thought it was just all major and that's why Chopin hated his pupils playing it for him. Or am I just a little confused? :/

  • no there is also es-moll

  • Good job. Liszt's transcriptions are probably the toughest pieces that they wrote. They are simply not written for the piano and therefore hard to memorize and learn. Great job here Mr. Lannone.

  • gould already did that. They sound pianistic here .Gould gives them a breadth and excited urgency in 7th. 5 and esp. 6th that does the music a favor. I will have to keep list to Pasq. Miss the brass and woodwind. string sounds. Its funny in gould's rec I dont feel Im missing the gruops .I'll just have keep list to this cuz I dont like it much right now.

  • Gould?

  • Glenn Gould recorded this kind of stuff... The 5th is really fabulous, I find especially if you try to forget it was ever written for an orchestra.

  • wow... i didnt like this movement all that much but after hearing it in raw form its pretty interesting!

  • Awesome

  • Where can I find sheet music for this?

  • wow. Amazing!!! after this this guy finished a least got a tendinitis!!

  • Amazing!!!媲美交響樂團!!!

  • That guy is rad!

  • Goood! Really good!

  • fucking awesome

  • Oups ! Je me suis trompé !

    Traduction : oerkjvckh !!!

  • Nice work, pasquale182003. The problem with these transcriptions is not just there technical difficulty but more so you must have a real knowledge of the Beethoven symphonies to do them justice. I would love to hear a conductor/pianist record these amazing Liszt transcriptions such Ashkenazy or Barenboim since they have so much insight into Beethoven's music over all.

  • Liszt Transcribed every single Beethoven Symphony, and also many other works like Operas and stuff he was pretty good at transcribing in his day, Unbelievable i've been looking for someone to post a video of these songs on youtube cuz i've only heard them on CD and i have the Sheet music Bravo man unbelievable.

  • 71603 You can do it! I started this about 1 month ago and I have shocked myself. I'm doing PDG "pretty darn good." I'm been taking lessons for almost 2 years. How long have you been playing?

  • Just imagine him on Carlos' MOOG!

  • Bravo! I didn't know there was a piano transcription for this, the 7th has always been a favorite.

  • his fingers are CRAZY!!!

  • Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on being Baching Mad on Classical Music Composer trading cards (issued in 1912): Haydn, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and many more included.

  • I love this song! It's so happy!

  • Brilliant! Wow!

  • OMG xD...is he a man? hahuahuhau...

  • lack of sound balance, (basso, harmony and melody mixed up)... or only the bad recording quality?

  • That's the effect you will usually get when you try to group as many parts of a symphony you can into a piano. Obviously it was never meant to be crowded into just one instrument. But the attempt is nothing short of brilliant. He even adds extra notes to compensate for the piano's inability to replicate the tremolo sounds.

  • Brovo!!! Never seen the piano played like this. I'm going to start praticing now and maybe one day I'll that good. thanks for the video.

  • You can do it!

  • very nice~!

  • Grandissimo Maestro!!!Cercherò di seguire i suoi concerti più spesso, specie se in terra di Puglia. Complimenti!!!

  • ahhhh //// who is he ??

    so good

  • Thanks for posting, I really like your approach. You can say these transcriptions have lost a bit their function, but they are really pianistic milestones and should be heard.

  • W l' Italia! :))
