When you get married, your credit pretty much merges. The Man kinda takes the girl's credit and combines it with his and the girl is left with no credit. That's why after divorces, women have a tough time building up credit.

To some extent, yes..if they apply for joint credit. But credit bureaus are still required by law to keep credit files separate for married couples. There is no law that both have to be on a loan, possibly unless living in a community property state (which I do not)

Not always true! It only merges if you want it to. it will always remain separate, you have to be proactiv to merge them. Marriage alone doesn't merge your credit. I still have great credit, and the hubby stinks! I would have to find another credit-worthy subject to co-sign a loan on a home---like his parents. Just because one spouse has bad credit, doesn't mean the other one does too or that they can't buy a house!
