  • Bob Dylan is overrated.

  • @TheHuntress144

Dylan isn't overrated. He had a tremendous impact in the development of rock music back in the early 60's. His song Like A Rolling Stone is a cultural landmark, as it, considered the first true rock single, marked the point in which rock & roll music was not viable anymore; he also turned the entire singer-songwriter trend into a cultural explosion and a genre in itself, and brought poetry and social conscience to mainstream lyrics, igniting a whole revolution.

  • @AFOH What about Johnny B. Goode?

  • @AFOH funny all i can hear is shit

  • @AFOH No offense, but if Bob Dylan is responsible for the mega douche singer songwriter explosion that brought us the likes of John Mayer and Jason Mraz he is even more overrated than I thought. His voice is grating and his skills as a lyricist are also overrated. Of course this is just my opinon and my op was not meant to be objective, but even so, my original opinon still stands. Again, I mean no offense.

  • Yes, he might have influenced them, but he also did such acts as The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, David Bowie, Hendrix, The Who, Neil Young, Barrett and countless more during and after his time. His lyrics were always his principal strength and his voice his main weakness, and still, he's the most influential writer (and poet) in modern popular music, notwithstanding the fact he founded the rock genre and penned its first single. That's enough credit for him to be rated so.

  • @AFOH He did not found rock n' roll, quit trolling. You like him, fine, but the lyrics for many of his songs (Tambourine Man comes to mind) are nonsense. The media has a history of romanticizing/glamorizing 'artists' even if their image and material collapse under the weight of its meaningfulness. Bob Dylan is one of those artsts and I'm sick of hearing about how great he is...very little to back up your claim.

  • @TheHuntress144 He's a racist too. He refers to African-Americans as "colored".

  • @TheHuntress144

Trolling? I'm teaching you some history. Back in 1964 rock and rock and roll music were barely distinguishable. When he, against tradition, first experimented with electric instrumentation in a folk record (Bringing It All Back Home, 1965), every other emerging rock band took a hint from him, from The Beatles (who had pioneered folk rock on Beatles For Sale and Help!) to The Byrds (Mr. Tambourine Man) Then he released Highway 61 (1965), and the rest is history.

  • @TheHuntress144

While he used rather surrealistic metaphors in many of his songs, his album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (1963) included such fine works as A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall, Girl From The North Country and Blowin' In The Wind. We all know he's no Robert Frost, but he holds an important cultural merit: introducing poetry to mainstream popular music, and doing so very neatly, too. Before him, social, let alone poetical lyrics on popular records were almost unheard of. He was a pioneer.

  • @AFOH As well as, yknow, making the first music video, all but inventing rap (not neccesarily a great thing), releasing the first double rock album etc etc. These are presumably the same people who think Hitchcock films are shit - when the techniques he pioneered found half of modern cinema.

  • @AFOH I guess u know well bob dylan, could u tell me what song is that please? :)

  • @arathornknight all of them

  • @AFOH Sorry for the late reply, but when you are a huge fan of someone and then purposefully click on a video called "Bob Dylan sounds like shit" then proceed to give a history lesson, yes, that is indeed trolling.

  • @TheHuntress144

Stating my point of view, trolling? I don't think so. Still calling Bob Dylan awful? Now that's trolling.

  • @TheHuntress144 Someone doesn't know what stream of consciousness is...

  • @piggybankvillan I do actually, that doesn't stop Bob Dylan from being awful.......

  • @TheHuntress144 How can you say Mayer sucks? He may be a douche in life but his music is awesome, one of the best songwriter of his generation.

  • lol you know what is funny. people here criticizing Bob Dylan are probably 10~14 years old, and it sounds like shit to them cause they have no good taste in music, just like in this South Park episode.

  • @minored360 I'm 16, and I love most good music. But I just can't like Bob Dylan... I mean yeah, there is the odd song I like, but as a whole, I don't like his music.

Funnily enough, I ALSO like Dubstep, which is what this episode was parodying.

  • @AlexLong1000

Yeah, I see what you mean. I was generalizing.

I am not saying everyone should like Bob Dylan, it's ok for people to dislike it, i just can't stand people saying it's shit blah blah blah.

  • @AlexLong1000 you dont like dylan but you like dubstep, you my friend are a tool

  • @justinschmieder The thing is, I know Dylan is far more talented than any dubstep maker, I just like dubstep and not Dylan. I'm not the typical dubstep fan who thinks it's the best music in the world and takes super uber talent and skill. THOSE people are toools.

  • @AlexLong1000 okay well i respect your opinion everyone is entitled to theirs, preference is preference, and i respect your respect for dylan although you may not be a fan, As i can see why people like dubstep, but am not exactly a fan myself.

  • @justinschmieder Thank you for being mature, unlike most of the people on youtube....

  • @minored360 thank you

  • I loved this. I hate Bob Dylan's voice.

  • I Fucking cried laughing when i heard this

  • 0:03

  • hmm sounds more like he's playing a justin bieber song

  • @xxxBlackShadexxx without a doubt jajaja

  • @xxxBlackShadexxx maybe stan wasnt being a cynical asshole maybe he had justin bieber in his head lol

  • @xxxBlackShadexxx What an original joke.

  • lol i remember when this episode aired i was eating soup and i spat it out laughing to this part XD

  • @TheNiftyHebrew no its not

  • @jake42091 yes it is you twat, "the times are a changin-bob dylan"

  • @animefan132 no........its not

  • Can someone tell me the name of the song by Bob Dylan in this clip?

  • you guys are dumb, this song is very deep! LMFA-PPPPFFFTTTTTTHRRRT-PPFFFTTHHHHTTT

  • that was bob dylan? it sounded more like dubstep

  • @ppp9922 amen to that!

  • @ZACKnirvana

lol i was expecting to get flammed...seems like everyone but me loves dubstep

  • @ppp9922 comparing that shit to bob dylan is like comparing a dog turd to a solid gold brick

  • @ZACKnirvana

    oh so true

  • Anyone knows the name of this song.. I thought it was pretty good(except for the fart sounds ofc)... If you know the name of the real song pls tell me.. thx!! :)

  • @Falconfoxou you're kidding, right?

  • @FizzleYap No I'm serious never heard it before and I think it sounds awesome plz tell me the name of the song if you know it! :D

  • Lol, Bob Dylan really does sound like total SHIT. He's an utterly horrible singer and I don't know why anyone would like to listen to his fucked up voice and his painfully simple/uninteresting songwriting. And don't even bring up lyrics, being good at that just makes you a poet if you can't sing them for shit. South Park's totally "ripping" one on him lol

  • i love bob dylan and this is fucking hilarious!

  • I hope no Bob Dylan fans get offended by this clip. It sounds like shit to Stan because in this episode hes a cynical asshole, same with the LA Noire joke later

  • Any of you who say bob dylan is shit then go bumb wheezy with your boys, go kill yourself. Your opinion is shit and means shit. Good day all.

  • @F3shotF dude... you didn't even see the whole episode did you??? This is one of my all time favorite south park episodes Trey and Matt produce smarter social satire year by year

  • Period. Long Live Rock n Roll!! Fuck all this new trendy ass pop swag garbage shit music! Shit is for the birds! Watered down garbage rap and smut pop. Fuckin puke. Wheres the Biggies and Tools? Instead we havd Shit-Staind and Lil Wayne. Music is dying thanks to stupid people with no taste in music and a pea sized brain. And corporate america cashing in on your stupidity and lack of physical musical appreciation.

  • Im pretty sure South Park isnt saying Bob Dylan is shit.. Theyre using it as an example for music that shouldnt sound like shit to anyone. "well thats very strange" indeed, Doc. If you think Bob Dylan is shit then your taste in music is shit.

  • "well thats very strange"

    Indeed.

Thats what they were trying to say.

If you think Bob Dylan sounds like shit you have no taste in real good music. In example he was listening to shitty music, now he has no taste in music at all..

Pretty sure thats what they were trying to get at.

In any case Bob Dylan was the man. Long live Rock N Roll and fuck all this trendy pop swag garbage bullshit music.

  • Nah this sounds like every Bob Dylan song ever made

  • Oh man I'm dieing.

  • i cant believe i find this so fucking funny!!!!!!!

  • No matter where I am, if this pops in my head, I just start laughing out loud!

  • @MrPopeye232323 yes it is mr poopeye232323

  • You are criticising me for saying Bob Dylan is shit, yet you are watching a video which says Bob Dylan is shit. And not criticising the video for saying Bob Dylan is shit. Maybe the irony is lost on you! Btw my mum did play Bob Dylan as a child to me which did not help. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  • I love how the majority of the kids that watch this don't even know who the hell Bob Dylan is. Why is it that everyone is my age group has no taste in music?

  • HAHAHA

  • lol bob dylans alright man cmon

  • what song is this???

  • @jsh24jsh It's no song... it's just a small parody

  • Bob Dylan does not only sound like shit, he is the pure embodiment of shit. All that grating on the ear harmonica and 'Im really political me' whiny nasal voice that sounds like wet toilet paper. Thank you South Park for telling the truth.

  • @Jasminebeautyfairy Your comment is a piece of shit

  • @Jasminebeautyfairy You are an ignorant fool. The truth? Bob Dylan is one of the greatest poets that's ever lived. You're telling me Justin Beiber, Usher, and all these other twit musicians of today don't sound like "shit"? You really either haven't ever heard good music, or you're just a moron. Anyone who takes the joke literally like you did, obviously needs help. Too bad when your mother dropped you on your head as an infant she couldn't have actually played Bob Dylan to you as you grew up.

  • 0:17 "Eeh-fah, Ppppttththhhthtthhhbbtbthht"
