The Armenians of the Black Sea region of Georgia and Turkey, largely Muslim but also including some Christians, number over 500,000. They are a little known community with a culture stretching back to antiquity. Although part of the larger Armenian (Hye) people, they are unique in that they speak a unique dialect of Armenian and follow Sunni Islam (many have been Muslim long before the arrival of the Turks in Anatolia in 1071).
