  • this makes me so homesick.. We need to take our daughter over when it is Tanabata time. she has not been there yet to witness the festivals for herself. thanks for sharing them.

  • This is very interesting indeed. I didn't know there were more festivals including lampion wagons in Japan.

If you ever have the chance go and the Neputa festivals of Aomori-ken in August, a series of events in towns like Goshogawara, Hachinohe, and Hirosaki with locally very different flavors. I promise it will blow you away like no other matsuri you have ever seen.

  • The winner of the competition was amazing and beautiful.

  • Great job Kevin. I love the new camera footage. Isn't HD great?

  • Wow that was great! what an amazing vid BK! the new cam sure is cool and the editing went perfect with it! O.O

  • The floats look awesome at night & riding up top looks like great fun...cool vid man : )

  • wow it almost looks like they are gunna fall off those things!! crazy. I have a Xacti too! I love mine!

    Cheers

  • Yeah! They just had little ropes they would grab onto if they were about to fall off!

  • Hey Kevin, thanks for doing this vlogging, I've recently subscribed to your channel and am enjoying your videos. Keep up the good work!

  • Great! Thanks so much. I'm glad you are enjoying them :)

  • If this is your new camera, then it has amazing quality. I'm not watching the HD one either :)

  • Hellz yeah , you join the forces of Xacti! Their so much fun!

Looks like a lot of fun!

  • Just wanted to say that your videos are great. They give a little peak into Japanese culture that is honestly hard for me to find. I hope to one day live in Japan, or at least visit and take in as much as I can. Thanks so much! :)

  • Wow, like the others have been saying, great pics.

  • The video is great...it's smooth and clear...GOOD for you about the new camera..

The festival is interesting...altho~ I've gotta admit that the singing is a little annoying at moments...

  • Wow you bought a Xacti....Nice

  • you've got some beautiful picture quality there. darn, makes me want to go out and buy a new camera...

  • I took part in a festival similar to this during the summer. Pushing those things were hard work, especially when they are three stories tall..

  • Thanks for sharing more of this experience! I liked seeing the lights turned on during the evening. The music was very interesting and really added to the intensity of the battle. BTW your new camera rocks! -Kurt :-)

  • wow very cool, when they started to shake the shrines, i was wondering if they were going to fall. good thing they didnt lol

  • Very Cool Kevin. What a culture, amazing compared to our western one.

  • That looks pretty cook & those guys have some amazing balance to stay on that thing while its rocking all over the place, I would fall off for sure!

  • They had ropes that they would grab hold of when they were slipping. Still.....a lot f talent and balance involved!
