  • Why am I stuck with such a sucky band instead of one on my level like this? -_-

  • I envy you guys a bit I'm use to having our middle school in Oregon being the best. Since we were as well very talented group of kids.

You guys are good but if your going to play a Peice like this you should clean it up a bit more.

Im not hating just giving you guys some advice Good Job.

  • We started playing this this week and we have to get to this speed by next week... o.o oh jeez! Im a trumpet so its gonna be difficult

  • Very impressive. This is prodegious work. I have nevr heard such a good Middle School Wind Ensemble.

  • I've been playing for 3 months and will have to play that piece ._. Kill me now, with fire!

  • This is a Middle School Band!? They sound like a highschool band! Really good job!!

  • This is not hard at all. I used to play this when I was just a young lad. If you can tongue by doing "tuka tuka" you can do this.

  • This was in '09, that year WIS got 3rd place in state, when I was in 5th grade. In 7th grade, I was in WIS Adv band and we got first in state! w00t!

Check out Variations on a theme of Robert Schumann that we played in '11, it's incredible, and also Summer Dances, and thumbs up for information!

  • I go to this school and i am in 7th grade in advanced band. Mr.Brockway told us about this story where everyone thought either the directors were idiots or the players were just really good. When they started the judges were shocked. GO WESTBROOK!?

  • In the 2009-2010 school year there was one 6th grader in Advanced.

  • we are playing this this year!

  • You have got to be kidding!!! A Middle school band????

    GREAT!! GREAT!!!!

  • it's relatively not that hard on clarinet. high noted were kind of a pain though

  • Your band director must be proud of this performance! Great job!

It is a tough piece for woodwinds as well. It's not in an easy key.

  • poor trombones..

  • @bravesfan4192 yes this is in fact an all middle school Band. This is Westbrook Intermediate's program they played the 08-09 year. I was in this band and it was made up of nothing but 7th and 8th graders. All my other videos are of the same band all at the same performance.

  • The band is pretty well split between 7th and 8th graders so yes the band is fully comprised of musicians who have been playing for 1-2 years at a total.

  • there is no doubt that this very good, but what i doubt is that this is a middle school band. There is no way students who have only played for 2-3 years can play a piece this difficult, there might be a few individuals, but not a whole band.

  • @bravesfan4192 al middle school. I witnessed myself. Pretty awesome.

  • this freakin blows my mind!

  • tuba is da best ftw

  • by the end of tha song... i still get a headaches frm playin all those high notes on the flute

  • I had a problem with the trills =( (Flutes are awesome)

  • @PrincessTot1369 Shut up lol I played this on bass clarinet. HARD!!!! but i got it of course

  • If this was at a festival, I think that the tempo is very appropriate. It would be suicide to play it much faster. Love the editing of the march. Very good job!!

  • Wow! Although the tempo was a bit slow, I'm surprised at the level of playing from such young musicians! Haha I mean our local Community College is playing this piece and I wouldn't have imagined such a young group to be playing it! Great Job =]

  • i hope to play this next year if i get in top band WOOT, GO WAVE

  • hey westbrook is not going to play this again. most likely so don't get hopes up sorry :P

  • @Wavers4LIFE yeah tht's true since that group was actually sortof the best

  • shouldnt this be a little faster.....? and too much snare, i would recommend one is enough becuase the stadium echoes the piercing sound. Other than that for an itermediate band you guys did pretty dam good. 5*

  • yeah it should, trombones could play it faster but whole band wouldn't have stayed together and it's played in UH auditorium. But this year this band has gotten better and is playing molly on the shore and circus beat.

  • Circus Bee* :P

  • LETS GO WAVE!!!! :D

  • huh?

  • Like the Xylophone part !!! =D and AMAZING SKILLS ALL TROMBONIST !!!! I played this piece and the trumpet part is very hard too ! Congrats for all of you !!! ^^

  • so very nostalgic =\

  • what does that mean?

  • fail ross. it's when you miss the past and remember the good times and stuff

  • oh sorry :P

  • the low brass sounds amazing

  • Haha...I decided to watch all these videos again, what a bittersweet feeling. I loved last year's band so much...and I miss it. Anyways, third at state. what a beast! ;))

  • that's cool

  • THOSE TROMBONES HAVE MADDD SKILLZ

  • That is absolutely amazing for the age group; I played that exact piece in my senior year in high school... Grade VI for Georgia high school bands out of 6 grades of music. Keep that up.

Oh, I wonder how these folks will sound when they become seniors!

  • Too bad we are all in a magnet school and won't all be attending the same high schools. This was probably the best band we will play in for a looong time.

  • This is extremely good especially considering the age group. Way to go!

  • woo we're goin to state

  • sup dudes, this is stephen s, im the only with the euphonium that's as shiny as paper :)

  • hi stephen

  • I'm the trombone on the far right-Brett :)

  • WOOO GO US! -Kevin

  • Awesome job! It has been incredible to listen to y'all this year. You've had something very special that doesn't come along often. The combination of talent, dedication, hard work, and an incredible director in Mr. Brockway that you all had this year is something I'll always remember.

It's going to be sad to see you all split up at different high schools, but I'll look forward to seeing everyone on the football field at halftime come fall.

    BTW, those trombones are incredible!!

    -Ryan's mom

  • woo. that was fun. i love my bass clarinet part specially the dog fight.

  • too bad you cant play any of it.

  • cole please shut the hell up.

  • lol that rocked hope its even better 2morrow

  • That was BEASTLY! It's the five-headed trombone monster!

Man, that rocked. Slowed down a bit, and had a few random tuning/balance issues, but holy crap.

Aah, I'm so proud of you guys. By the time of your final concert, all of these will be absolutely perfect.

And I'm totally going to be there to watch it.

    -Steph

  • hey steph

    its this Friday

and i belive we play at 4 and its at Pearland Jr. High South in the same autotorium

  • Wow we rock! lol jk but I LOVED the person on first clarinet! lol you can hear me screaming around 50 seconds if you listen closely

  • by screaming i meant playing the screaming-high part

just in case you were wondrin

    but i didn't squeak!

which was amazing considering i chipped my reed (whoops)

  • BEAST!!!! We always slow down at the trio, whats new?

We completely splatted the first b flat of the dog fight though...

I was surprised of how good it actually sounded though, the trombones were actually together, and clear, except for paul... who does the messed up wrist thing...

  • guess the saxophone section just ain't the same without me...

  • zach!

  • lol, for a first time attempt, it was good, we slowed down at the trio though, i didnt like that part... WESTBROOK BAND FTW!!!!

  • oh come one joan, everyone thinks it was awesome except for you :P

  • Yeah...to be quite honest, that wasn't very good. We totally could've and should've done better. ;) We could've...but again, this is just the first time. Go WESTBROOK! Haha...and the piccolo part needs to be louder...:D

  • rate 5 star!! :)

  • Yay. this is pretty cool. I'm not in band but you know. I still can't get over westurland's hair cut.

  • Go HORNS with UP BEATS... WOOT!! (this is me, so dont ask me who i am, cause i am me)

  • who are you?!?

  • hey christian

  • GO WESTBROOK!!!! Especially us trombones. We look so beast standing up xD

  • true paul true

  • Wow that was very good. I honestly didn't think you guys were 7th and 8th graders until I read the description. Well done

  • thank you. but i saw your recording of your high school one and that was good too. but i thought we did good for the time we had and our age lol
