  • at 2:00 was the beck and forth between the roof crew and the FF's on the ground to do a potential roof collapse issues? Seems after the yelling the roof crew pulled back?

  • First alarm commercial structure fire gets 4 engine companies, two truck companies, and two battalion chiefs.

Residential first alarm assignment is the same, minus one truck and one chief.

An alarm indicates a box alarm, there are around 500 boxes in portland -- each box indicates which apparatus should respond. In nearly every case, there is an engine company per station -- sometimes an engine and truck, and even more rarely -- an engine, truck, and battalion.

  • In Portland stations on average are kind of small. So usually a two alarm fire means that resources from two stations are tapped out to the fire. I don't know the standard response as far as apparatus is concerned but that's what two alarm means. Hope that helps.

  • What exactly does a "2-alarm" fire mean? That it's detected by two smokedetectors?

  • WOW leg it benny :P i wouldent walk into that

  • WOW. This is in my town!
