  • The current Vice President of the United States and President of the United States Senate is Joe Biden.

  • While vice presidents used to regularly preside over the Senate, modern vice presidents have done so only rarely—vice presidents usually only preside to swear in new senators, during joint sessions, and when casting a tie-breaking vote. The Senate chooses a president pro tempore to preside in the vice president's absence. Modern presidents pro tempore, too, rarely preside over the Senate. In practice, the junior senators of the majority party typically preside in order to learn Senate procedure.

  • lol, she actually got this one right. The vp IS in charge of the Senate. If u recall correctly, Dick Cheney ran the Senate.

  • It sounds like she's trying to "dumb down" the position to us so we can understand it...yet I walk away without any actual knowledge of what the position is or why she would be good at it....

  • So the Vice President is the president's best friend and gets a few perks??

  • million bucks she checks her info on Wikipedia

  • I don't get it. I'm not a big supporter of Palin, but the VP is the President of the Senate. Article 1, Section 3, Clause 4 of the Constitution gives him that duty. As President of the Senate he can cast tie breaking votes and greatly influence that outcome of close issues. It funny how people rip it to what others say and assume they are wrong because they don't know the facts. It happens on both sides and its the reason this country is in trouble. Stop believing everything you see on the net.

  • @TheOZBehindCurtain This is true, the VP does indeed get to cast that final vote WHEN ITS A TIE. For the most part the VP plays no part in the day to day matters of the Senate. Theres no way in Hell she wouldve been able to make decisions and policy changes just because she wanted to

  • @uyguyg65 I dont know why you capitalized "when its a tie" as if i didn't say that. I did say that. She said she can work with the others to make changes, not do it unilaterally.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheOZBehindCurtain It was to emphasize the fact that it is the only time a VP can have a real deciding ability in the senate

  • @uyguyg65 whats your point? Are you trying to imply that a tie breaking vote is not important?

  • @TheOZBehindCurtain No, im implying that the fact that a vp hasnt held a tie breaker in nearly 3 decades means that she wouldn't be making any kind of radical decisions

  • @uyguyg65 did she say she would be making radical decisions?

  • @TheOZBehindCurtain kind of, she said "they can really get in there with he senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family" which is not true, the VP can only make a change if the senate is split 50/50, heck if the senate isn't split 50/50 the VP has no say at all and if it is the VP has just as much say as any other, one tie breaking vote. so she is completely wrong.

  • @bokunobaka First the tie breaking vote is more pivotal then any other vote. Second, like you stated she said the VP can work WITH the senator Her statement implies working with a group of people to bring about change, which is true. This is separate from the VP making a tie breaking vote Your implying the VP is only useful in the Senate when there is a tie vote This is not true. When working with senators the VP can work to make policy changes and "get in there" with the senators to avoid a tie

  • @TheOZBehindCurtain Where in the constitution does it say that the VP has any power in the senat other than a tie breaking vote. The senate doesnt have to do anything the Vp says, unless its a tie breaking vote the senate can ignore the Vp. the Vps duties are getting the tallies of the votes for the electoral college's and opening them in the senates presence and breaking senate ties. i Got this from 3w.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/briefing/Vice_President.htm

  • @bokunobaka Art. 1 §3. The VP is the President of the senate. That is a position of power, unless you think the President has no power until he uses a veto. No one said the VP tells the senate what to do. Why are you inserting arguments that were not made in the video or myself? I got my information from my political science degree and laws school.

  • @bokunobaka Try not to down play the importance of a tie breaking vote. When the legislature is closely divided that vote can determine legislative issue, appointment of officers and committees. The VP does work closely with house members. Just because you hate Palin does not mean everything she says is wrong and I'm tired of arguing implications and tangents in an attempt to discredit what was said in the video. She is correct end of story deal with it and move on.

  • @TheOZBehindCurtain Im not saying that the VP doesnt have influence, yes the VP can influence the senate and help influence policy change. I know the tie braking vote can be important im just trying to say that's the only authority the VP has, if the VP tick off the senate then the influence could be gone. Im saying the VP can LEAD the senate to water but it cant MAKE them drink. Palin said MAKE the changes im saying that the VP can really only INFLUENCE change.

  • @bokunobaka Like I said before i'm not a big Palin supporter. I'm just tired of people ripping apart everything she says because of the media bias. Nothing she said here is false and if obama said it there would be no question. Its that blind hatred that annoys me. Regardless of what you think about her I find it funny that people who have done nothing with their life can sit at home and post negative comments. She was a governor and VP candidate what have you done with your lives?

  • Tea Party = KKK high on Geritol.

  • this is great. haha

  • A VP is a cheerleader complete with pom-poms. Gooo Mavericks!

  • it would be funny if Mccain became president and died. Then Palin wouldn't replace him because she doesn't know what a VP does :P

  • I'm waiting for her to come to my house and sell cookies. I will buy the chocolate ones.

  • Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha, what a bazzoon some of these Republicans are! I'm laughing at Palin in particular although there are some others too I could chuckle about the things they say and do. That's just how I feel!!! :D

  • i'm not from america, so someone clear this out for me: the VP isn't the 'boss' of the senate, right?

  • @devidia The VP is the 'President of the Senate' and most VPs were actively involved in day to day operations there. Many had their actual offices in the Senate building.

The President of The Senate has fewer powers than the Speaker of The House but does have a seat right in The Chamber, and all questions and comments are to him.

The Constitution also requires a President pro tempore (stand in) for when the VP is away.

Palin was absolutely right. Even Wikipedia lists the details.

  • The multiple posts are not my fault - I kept getting 'error' messages. Sorry.

  • Have any of you idiots even read The Constitution?

    [(ht tp://ww w.usconstitution. net/const.ht ml) - note gaps]

Anyway, The Vice President is listed in the LEGISLATIVE section of The Constitution. Article 1, Section 3. The Vice President IS the President of The Senate and many have kept offices there.

She's right, you're wrong. That makes you 'dumber than a Palin.'

    That's gotta hurt.

  • @fascistcat LOL. You are a troll. She doesn't get in the Senate you traitor. That's why you're a fascist.

  • @syzygy502 The US Constitution is only 362kb in PDF form. You should spend 8 or 9 minutes reading it. I even provided a link for you. Here it is again...

    [(ht tp://ww w.usconstitution. net/const.ht ml) - note gaps]

Stupid, mean and gay is no way to go through life, son.

  • well,,,,the chances of finding two actual functioning brain cells in palins head are slim to none.

  • @FoxsNewsReport True.

  • @iPriestHolmes Because I'm from Kansas City, and the chances of finding someone from my hometown is slim.

  • @iPriestHolmes Because I'm from Kansas City.

  • wait...isn't the vp in charge of how much marshmallows go into the 1st cup of cocoa? o.O

  • @iPriestHolmes Why the hell is your username priestholmes?

  • @syzygy502 because he's my favorite football player...mkay?

  • @iPriestHolmes You melonhead, he played for Kansas City.

  • @syzygy502 ummm...no shit

  • Comment removed

  • @iPriestHolmes I'm from Kansas City.

  • @iPriestHolmes I'm from Kansas City.

  • @syzygy502

    okay, so?

  • wow. I knew what the VP does when I was 10.

  • wow,she doesnt even know what a VP does,,,,,,,wow what a fucking ditz

  • @FoxsNewsReport haha yea she is foxnews sucks btw

  • wow,she doesnt even know what a VP does

  • This person having been so close to the vault of the USA gobernance says very little about its institutions, but most frightening, it indicates something terrible disturbing about the USA public and voters. Well, at the end of the day, let not forget that USA had G.W.Bush as president, king of all retards, who ruled the country through opnely practicing fraud in the elections, and no one could do anything about it!! Once again... really disturbing!

  • technically she is right, but the vp is does preside over the senate, but shes conpletely wrong that the vp makes policy changes with the senate (as that would be the executive doing the legislatures job) the only time that the vp can vote is if there's a tie

  • The Vice President of the United States is designated by the Constitution as the President of the Senate. The vice president holds a tie-breaking (or "casting") vote in the Senate, they are Not in charge of the senate nor can they make "good policy changes" prior to legislation, she is wrong

  • She correctly pointed out that the Veep's primary duty is to be President of the Senate. Behold, for this is video proof that she actually DOES know something about politics and government.

  • @Sundogjeep "You calling anyone "retarded" is tantamount to the pot calling the kettle black. "

You using the word TANTAMOUNT in any argument about Sarah Palin's intellect is like using Wedgewood and Stirling silverware to feast on the contents of a bag of Fritos.

Palin isn't President material or even head Cafeteria Lady material. Since most people KNOW that much, your desperate defense of a moron is seriously getting tiresome.

Defending Polly Palin is Purely Political and Pathetic.

  • @kiiifute1 You do know that John McCain was born in Panama, right?

Panama vs.Hawaii --- I think HAWAII is much more USA than Panama.

Do you have an issue with a presidential nominee (who LOST) being born in Panama? If not, why not?

You don't like Obama. THAT is your problem. He is NOT white. Is that another problem of yours?

Why don't you stop arguing stupid non-points and say what it is that bothers you. We have a NON-WHITE man in the White House. If THAT is OK, then shut da hell up!

  • She should hand the moose the gun.

  • Sarah Palin is a spy. Everything about her is completely manufactured. Her last name is short for palindrome. She was planted as McCain's running mate for a reason. Learn the real story

  • she is one of the biggest idiots know to the human race

  • she is so retarded , she makes retarded people look smart

  • Even though you morons keep saying that there is a tecnhical term "President of the Senate"; she is wrong because she said "The vice president can really get in there with the senators and make good policy changes"...NOPE, totally incorrect. Unless there needs to be a tie break. The "President of the Senate" is more ceremonial and less policy influenced. If you ppl who claimed to know history, actually did, u would remember the framers didnt want strong executive power in the senate.

  • Ya, I can't say I like her, but she is dead right.

  • Palin is by far! The dumbest bitch EVER!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone that supports her should be shot in the head!

  • @chevynut71570 I think Michele Bachmann is pretty close in the running for dumbest bitch haha.

  • @chevynut71570 say that to obama and you will be called a racist

  • The Vice President IS the President of Senate. Look it up. Wikipedia clearly says, "The current Vice President of the United States and President of the United States Senate is Joe Biden". Sarah Palin is correct.

  • @ThomasSchmitz I hate to acknowledge she's correct, but yeah, this video is moronic because it's showing the one point she makes that's accurate and yet calling her an idiot at the same time. I agree she has no business being in politics, but the poster of this video needs to take his own US gov't lesson.

  • @ThomasSchmitz

Wikipedia? You mean the place where Sarah Palin followers go to make this freak show sound right?

    Read a book noob

  • @ThomasSchmitz No. Palin is WRONG. The president of the US Senate cannot vote on policy changes unless there is a split vote. It is the VP's job to oversee the senate not make policy changes which is what Palin says the job of the VP is. Stop Wikipedia-ing everything is just pay attention in school. Maybe someday you will be smarter than Palin!

  • One can make an impact statement without all the cursing and derogatory comments. This woman is not fit to be our president. I don't believe there is a cram session for people who want to be president. She will go the way of others who have stumbled into fame. A book here, a speech there, and millionaire status. Ask billy. It has become the american way. No substance required. Nothing makes sense anymore in this shallow capitalist purgatory. Give me back Truman anyday.

  • Lol nope. Sorry Sarah, try again this year.

  • so she makes a mistake. its not like Obama is perfect either. No one is.

  • @13political There is a difference between perfection and competence. No 1 expects her to be perfect we just dont want someone with the I.Q. of a potatoes to be in office. If we did we'd vote Mr. Potatoe Head into office as he would at least be more popular.

  • I love it how sorry stupid Democrats and baby killing left wing know it all's can spend all day bad mouthing a lady who is trying to make the world better. I bet anyone who makes any bad comments about this women barely graduated Highschool.

  • @THEBIGDOC26 I have a Bachelor's degree. She believes Dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. WHO'S THE IDIOT AROUND HERE???

  • @TheFoxxyTV A whole Bachelor's degree? I hope you didnt hurt yourself. I got my First B.A. at 19. When you get your PH.D we can talk. go back to school little liberal.

  • @THEBIGDOC26 I'm not tooting my horn buddy, just saying that you bet that bad comments=low education. That is false. Did they teach her ridiculous dinosaur theories where you went to grad school? Otherwise, I can't figure out how someone so educated would fall for her b.s. It doesn't add up.

  • @THEBIGDOC26 ps- Having a PH.D or not has absolutely nothing to do with being able to tell whether or not this idiot is out of her mind. You'd think someone with at least a Jr. High education would know that...

  • @TheFoxxyTV Go back to school little liberal

  • @THEBIGDOC26 lol...educate yourself, someone clearly failed you miserably.

  • @TheFoxxyTV Oh no, I am far more educated than you and I have the Paperwork to prove it. I feel sorry for you....youre probably poor to......you are so funny......not as good as me.

  • @THEBIGDOC26 Okay, now I don't even believe you lol...I bet you're either 12, or an old, fat slob stewing in your parents' basement...It's gotta be one of the two

  • @THEBIGDOC26 You used the wrong form of "too" there. You also made a run on. Somehow I doubt you graduated from HS at 15.

  • @TheFoxxyTV Hahaaa! Did he or she say they got their B.A, at 19? Thats a BIG lie. If they got it that fast it must have come out of a cereal box lol.

  • Comment removed

  • I graduated highschool at 15 moron.

  • I graduated from highschool at 15 moron.

  • No it's not I lie, I graduated highschool at 15. My IQ is only matched by my yearly salary.

  • @THEBIGDOC26 So... you make somewhere around 90 dollars a year? You should find a new place to work.

  • SAUDUMME SCHLAMPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is Sarah Palin dumb? No, definitely not.

She would need 3 major promotions to be qualified as dumb.

  • @ES350ES350 -lmfao!

  • @ES350ES350 The US Constitution is only 362kb in PDF form. You should spend 8 or 9 minutes reading it. I even provided a link for you. Here it is again...

    [(ht tp://ww w.usconstitution. net/const.ht ml) - note gaps]

Stupid, mean and gay is no way to go through life, son.

  • Calling Sarah Palin a retard is an insult to retarded people everywhere.

  • Apparently VP in charge of the US Senate and cause policy change. >.>

Can we get religious wing nuts out of the government now?

  • That sounded like a 4th grader describing the position of class president.

  • She'd look great with 10 dicks slapping her in the face simultaneously.

  • Anyone who attacks Sarah is a racist. There! have some of the same BC ya marxist leftist liberal. Get a job and work for a living. You will see what conservatism is all about when your told to give up all your goodies to lazy people.

  • @Taskforce1x1

a racist? I sarah palin part black er something?

  • @Taskforce1x1 I have a job and I work for living...uh, that's the only way one can work for a living...if they have a job. Anyway, I work for a living and I still can't understand conservatives, usually because they say stupid shit all the time like Sarah does here.

  • @Taskforce1x1 yea ok, im white and i attack sarah palin. how am i racist? do you even know what being a racist is? i work, and i work for a living. lol

  • @della69me I'm only repeating what MSNBC said to prove a point. Read my other posts that lead up to it. Then what I say can be taken into context. Your ok with me della

  • She wipes from back to front.

  • there are retards and there's sarah palin

  • How many people has she slept with to get where she is today?

  • @jonw82 Good question, lets ask her during her next rally. knowing her she probably bomb, n say its all bout job creation, with the umbrella does that count, in what respect position, or i could see russia's ding dong from my house.

  • @jonw82 to many but still not enough

  • @jonw82 Sounds like a lot. Prophetic speech.

  • She was actually right, they do chair the Senate. What is the problem?

  • @stueydessler she said "VP is IN CHARGE of the Senate" ... vp has no power over the senate.. so saying "in charge" is constitutionally wrong

  • @stueydessler News Flash - the VP is neither "in charge" of the Senate nor does he/she "chair" the Senate.

  • How can you be qualified for a job when you don't even know the job description?

  • This is like the end of the world when i see this

  • The Bible is neither history nor truth, it's stories (or old tales). Fulfilled Bible prophesies aren't fulfilled prophecies, but retelling of history. If you predict something that already happened, you're no fortune teller, you're a bull shitter.

Palin talks and talks and talks, and says NOTHING. She's a charlatan, a fool, and a snake oil seller. She's no leader, no scholar, and not even a genuine human being.

The woman is an entertainer; a low talent, highly paid entertainer. Good for her

  • How is she wrong? Don't just say "Wrong." Say how she is wrong. You can't though can you?

  • @shcotty43 She is wrong in the sense that the vice president only presides over Congress in the matter of a tie. So I think any one with a basic know how of US government knows how she is wrong

  • Wrong.

  • "Get in there with the senators."

    What a retard.

  • "I look forward to having that job"... yeah and look how that went :)

  • *facepalm*

  • She's not that wrong. Read the Constitution. Head of the Senate is the only job of a VP.

  • @orph82 Yeah. I don't think she's particularly intelligent but she was right people.

  • Comment removed

  • who's dum and who is dumer. Bush or Palin. Man that's tough

  • Liberals continue to prove their stupidity every, single day.

  • @RetSquid You don't need the comma.

  • @OmnipotentAnthropoid

It's there just for some emphasis.

  • @RetSquid dude, she is conservative...that's what the republican party is

  • @7ragnarokk

Good for you, you are not as stupid as the average liberal. I bet you think that she said she could see Russia from her house, right?

  • @RetSquid...not really, but it was funny to think that...but i'm not stupid, and not all liberals are...not even all conservatives are (who knew?!?!) the only stupid people in politics are the polititians. btw, that is not actually as controversial a point as it seems. and also, i'm not the adverage liberal...i'm a marxist, which is almost as far left as you can go

  • @7ragnarokk

"How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin.

And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."

    -Ronald Reagan

  • @mindspring57 and @link182ava44

The President of the Senate does more than just cast tie-breaking votes. They preside over the Senate just like the Speaker presides over the House of Representatives. And when they are not there, the job still gets done by someone else to whom the responsibilites have been delegated... the President Pro Tempore or somone to whom the President Pro Tempore chooses. Watch the opening of any Senate session on C-SPAN and you will see...

  • bull

  • what just happened? i zoomed out after a couple of seconds and i just woke up with an IQ rating that's 50 points lower then my average!!

  • Actually, the Vice President is the President of the Senate under the constitution. But basically all that means is that if there's a tie in the senate, the VP gets to break the tie.

That's where it starts and ends, she can't, "get in there with the senators"

  • Wow....I never realized 34 seconds could make my IQ drop

  • When will the OP of this video admit that they are WRONG and either take down this erroneous claim or replace it with some other claim that at least has a shred of credibility?

  • Read Article 1, Section 3 of the United States Constitution.

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate.

  • @ITTRP1993 only thing they do as the president of the senate is break a tie. Pretty much it. It's just a title.

  • @ITTRP1993 The entire sentence reads as follows: "The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided." The Vice President is merely a presiding officer. He is not "in charge of the Senate." He has no authority to "get in there with the Senators" or influence its work. The Vice President normally does not preside, unless an important vote is likely to be a tie. Sarah Palin is a Bible-thumping ignoramus.

  • By her logic, I should become A Computer Technician, because I would be able to go on the internet.

  • This bitch has put the American feminist movement back a few decades. Whenever people are thinking of a female politician, they're gonna think about her.

  • @thestranger4812 hahahahahahahaha, funniest shit i've read all day

  • thank god she didnt become VP

  • POOR SARAH! Like Mother, like son: retards!! Like Mother, like daughter: sluts and cheap whores! Oh well, you can't have 'em all, bitches!! Hey, Gal, wipe that blood off your hands! But then: it probably won't come off!!

  • @mexicanboy92840 why do your people run across the border and shove burritos in their ass?

  • She makes Bush appear clever & competent

  • @neverfearchrisishere almost friend, almost...*headdesk*

  • @neverfearchrisishere President Bush and her are both great

  • I'd fuck Palin but I fear I'd get Dumb Dick disease

  • much like Ann Coulter, this dumb bitch only gets anal from me.

  • oh my god she did not just say that... Her answer is correct but it's the answer to the question "what does a vice class president do?"

  • I thought the VP's job was to shoot people in the Face

  • Comment removed

  • Well by the presidents "teammate" im going to assume she means she is second in line to the presidents office and would take over, if the prez could not carry out his duties. But she is completely wrong on her explanation concerning Senate as VPs are not allow to debate among the members of Senate. They can only cast a deciding vote in the event of a tie.

  • That's the problem with statements like yours. They're completely dishonest and naive. An honest argument will include the fact she's been in politics 20 years, had more governing experience than Obama at the time of the election, AND when examined closely and impartially her record as mayor and governor were impressive and accomplished. You're using the same arguments they used to stain Bush. Parse his words and magnify his missteps.
