Get Stereophonics Local Boy.. to No.1 in tribute to Stuart Cable. The Facebook Group's 25,000 strong! Download by Saturday to make THIS WEEK's CHART. Only 65p on play.com. RIP Stuart.
From a Welsh boy to a proper Welsh man who knew how to have a good time! Youl be missed around here and probably nationwide, what a great talent and a great man, usto see you everyday as you used to live quite close. RIP brother! x
Yeah, I'm playing a gig tonight at a venue called Cosmopol, Glasgow, and hoping to open on a cover of this song in memory of him. A truely underated drummer.
First guitar book I bought, when learning to play was "Performance and Cocktails" by the Stereophonics. But I still love songs like "Local Boy in the Photograph" from Word Gets Around.
I was never a Stereophonics fan, but I was lucky enough to meet Stuart a few times through local shows and Cardiff City, such an enthusiastic, entertaining man, truly a legend, he'll be sadly missed. =/
Will not forget meeting him at signing in Cardiff for release of JEEP.Morfa was one of the best gigs ever. Awesome when he came and sat next to me and kids outside Bavarian bar with beers in DownTown Disney Paris 08. He always had a huge smile and friendly down to earth way reflected by all who post since this am. '10 is a bad year for critical illness' and death in Rock. My thoughts are with his friends/family at this terrible time. Wales was a better place when he was here. Rest Easy Big Man.
Love and respect to your family in a time like this. You are a true star Stu. . So many people touched by your loss. You have a wonderful heart and heaven is one richer and one louder too
Too many good souls gone early. Add Stu to the list of remarkable musicians and bloody great welshmen. Long may he be remembered, talked about and respected. Keep laughing up there ! RIP
i cant believe you have gone stuart, im totally stunned and sad i never got the chance to meet you but ive been a fan for 12 years, you got me into drumming , i loved the way you played and when you left the phonics i was gutted , i emailed the nme on that very day and let my feelings been known and they printed it in the next weeks copy, i hope you read it as you will always be my fave drummer and musician RIP mate you will be so badly missed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone has their own period of a band's existence that they prefer- mine was when Stuart was the drummer. It just takes me back to a very happy time of my life.
I live in the next town to where he lived. Feeling is, naturally, very low among anyone who loves music, and from this area. This boy was loved in Wales, and I can't imagine what his family must be going through.
What a totally grey, dull day. Rest in peace Stuart.
@kevcleggy i respect your opinion but if you think the phonics got worse after stuart your off your tree....the phnics are stronger and better than ever...a real loss them getting rid of stuart but he was in no fit state to continue,,,if you know anything of the band you will know why....r.i.p. stuart......
@dan44762000 I think what you are saying then is that it`s just a coincidence that their record sales have gone down the pan since they sacked Stuart. Their last album failed to get into the UK top 10 , failed to get top 30 in Ireland and didnt chart anywhere in Europe . They only released 2 singles from their last album - Innocent peaked at # 54 and Could You Be The One didnt chart at all. . And you say they are stronger and better ?!
@NewQuayYachtClub ohh wow got too 11 though didnt it ....and who cares for ireland there a welsh band...good bankds dont release singles...that been the case for years....singles are waste of time...quality artists dont release singles...whens the last time u saw a rolling stones single released...or a metallica single or any good band for that matter....u missing the point...i followed them from day one...i love the band but to say they gone downhill since stuart left is ridicolous...
@dan44762000 Matter of fact that their latest album is their worst selling ever and failed a top 10. The reason why `old` artists like the Stones , McCartney , Rod Stewart dont release singles anymore is becuase their fans are generally 50+ who dont buy singles. Their material doesnt appeal to the
younger generation who download singles. The Stereophonics arent in the golden oldie category yet but its a case that the current record buying public have lost interest in Stereophonics music .
@dan44762000 first 2 albums were great then the lure of the charts was too strong so we had shite like handbags and gladrags plus tons of easy listening rubbish, they have not improved.
RIP Stuart saw you a few weeks touring with the Alarm
Canogymru perhaps there is a reason that Phonics havent put anything on their site yet, they may wish to consult his family first and act on their wishes
I would imagine that they have other things on their mind rather than updating the website. Or maybe they need to find out all the details first.
I had the pleasure of seeing the stereophonics 5 times, three of which were with stuart. I met him at the first one at the Town and Country club in leeds back in 1997 I think it was. He was such a friendly fun and outgoing guy! He'll defo be missed! RIP big fella!

Still deeply shocked by Stuart's tragic sudden death.
So incredibly sad.
