Just think about this: White people who came to America were greeted by a glorious statue of a women who lightened their way to freedom. This is not going to be good for the economy. For one thing, money should be used students that are citizens yet financially challenged. If non-citizens want to get higher education they can enlist in the military and work for it, by doing so they serve for the country they want to live in. @secularmonk the dream act has about a dozen strict conditions, one of them being the requirement that one must have been in the US for 5 consecutive years BEFORE the bill is passed. any immigrant coming to the US outside that time period will NOT benefit from it. for instance, if this bill gets passed in say 2012, one MUST have been here since 2007 to be illegible. therefore it will actually decrease the flood of new illegals because they have no chance.

This is not going to be good for the economy. For one thing, money should be used students that are citizens yet financially challenged. If non-citizens want to get higher education they can enlist in the military and work for it, by doing so they serve for the country they want to live in. This guarantees them a permanent residency, which in five years is exchanged for a citizenship.

@secularmonk the dream act has about a dozen strict conditions, one of them being the requirement that one must have been in the US for 5 consecutive years BEFORE the bill is passed. any immigrant coming to the US outside that time period will NOT benefit from it. for instance, if this bill gets passed in say 2012, one MUST have been here since 2007 to be illegible. therefore it will actually decrease the flood of new illegals because they have no chance.

Dream Act= bad for the country and bad for U.S. citizens and legal immigrants. If this country can get U.S. citizens and legal immigrants back to work, then unemployment can start to go down. That's one way of lowering unemployment in the U.S.

Thanks. It completely makes sense. If the federal government cannot do its job, then it should be left up to the states to lay down their own immigration laws. Illegal immigrants should not be given a pass if they come into the country illegally. If they cannot go through the legal pathway to citizenship the right way, they should not be entitled to jobs, education,health care, housing, etc. They should be deported. Those are the current laws!! Illegal is Illegal plain and simple

Exactly. Did you heat about that dream act bill that passed in California. California would be giving free financial aid money to illegal immigrants! That not right. Why should a U.S. citizen like myself have to compete against an illegal immigrant for financial aid!!?? Illegals should not be entitled to anything unless they have come to the U.S. through the pathway to citizenship the lawful way. If not, they should be deported. Obama is doing this just to get the Latino votes.

This is a damn shame. Especially when American students are struggling to get financial aid; meanwhile illegals get free money handed to them on a sliver platter. At least 70% or more people in this country do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants. People should protest against illegals being granted free financial aid and other things like health care, jobs, etc.

No to the Dream act and any politician that backs it, Election Day results sent a strong message that Americans are fed up with illegal immigrant entitlements. More than 60 Democratic House members and four Democratic senators, most pro-amnesty, were defeated. Those who kept their seats should be nervous about bucking the national trend toward enforcement.

He doesn't want two classes of citizens yet the State of California is going to soon allow kids on the dream act to receive free financial aid for school. While those kids who are here legally who don't meet financial aid guidelines will only receive subsidized/unsubsidized loans. For California, all you have to be is an illegal immigrant on the dream act to get free financial aid, you could be rich and still get a free ride. Obama regardless is creating a two classes of citizens.

I don't think any kind of dream act or amnesty will EVER occur. Look at how many people are VEHEMENTLY opposed to any kind of concession. There would be a REVOLUTION if our government ever tried to change the laws they themselves have made.

As an extra, added bonus to Obama giving amnesty to all the illegal’s, they'll also get democrat voter-registration paperwork in Spanish & English, if they are illiterate in both languages they'll be provided translators free of charge! Does amnesty grant citizenship? Or does it forgive the illegal entry?
Republicans need to force a Constitutional crisis over this and enter Articles of Impeachment. Only Congress can establish uniform rules of naturalization

@JerFish12 Well the dream act actually has nothing to do with people who may or may not cross the border in the future and Obama does not suport illegal immigration. The dream act is about being realistic about people's lives; children who were brought here years ago before they had a true understanding of the world do not know any home besides America. You pointing out that it's a felony pretty much amounts to telling them it's a felony to be alive. This provides a path for them to integrate.

@hannahmobrien I know EXACTLY what the DREAM ACT is about. I've been working with a group to put a stop to it for 3 yrs. I was sitting in Washington the last time it was being voted on in the Senate. . I know what the dream act is. Its amnesty to the kids of illegals. No more no less. The problem with bringing kids here illegally is not our problem , its between the parents & the kids. NOT R problem, NO to the Dream Act. Americans have said tjat twice & will say it again. NO!
