  • Cool stuff.

But I'm still not payin jack.

  • Dude. RESPECT, you rock.

    /like.

  • i see you pressing the 6th string but you're not plucking it?

  • @wildwestpoint Probably a comfort here.

  • better to feel your own intuition, than metronom

  • merci very good

  • good instruction. No nonsense! I'm buyin some of this dude's stuff!

  • kevin smith

  • saved it to my favorites . . . thanks

  • one of the best lessons i've seen on youtube. Well Done, you know your shit.

  • Why is it so hard to find lessons like this? Learning to improvise is key to staying interested in learning guitar.

  • this guy is good check him out in this month flatpicking guitar magazine

    well worth the money

  • Good stuff Curtis...THANKS

  • Nice. Clear and easy to follow. Thanks!

  • i met this guy at a music store in murphy nortcarolina called music to my ears today lol

  • Cool stuff =]

  • This was way overdue. Cant wait to get to learnin' one o' those ... the willy one ... and you know .. some ppl want EVERYTHING for free when I KNOW HOW HARD YOU FINE PICKERS HAVE TO WORK to pull this stuff out of the universe!!

  • Good lesson, but bad teaching etiquette by not showing everything you play.

  • Good thing your using the "Bluegrass" G chord!

  • wow i really like your video - and your approach. learning the licks was easy (im a beginner) but with the metronome and the lick displayed it made it easy to see how to punch them in. pretty cool i'd say. now on to the downloads -

  • thank you

  • Can someone tell me what the opening 3 notes of 'way down town' are. Ive almost got this song figured out except for that part, i cant tell what hes doing. sorry, newbie here.

  • The opening three notes (pickup) are 6th string (bass) on Fret 3, 5th string open, then 5th string on fret 2. This leads you into the 5th string on fret 3 which is the first note of his C run.

  • what is played between lick 2 and lick 3 on way down town? is that called a fill?

  • Thank You Mr Jones!! You hit my guitar pick'n my buttons with your good advice! Happy Christmas from Australia!!

  • what song is that

  • Great stuff love your singing too.

  • first bluegrass lick learned.ejoyable

  • Thanks. I am just starting to learn bluegrass and this was just what I needed. I like how it changes from chromatic ideas to diatonic and back.

  • thanks for the lesson

  • sooo basically a lick is a bunch of notes/catchy rhythm thats played in between cords/notes?

  • yes

  • does not even have to be between chords. they can also be a section of a solo (meaning solos are made of a number of licks put together). short melodies.

also, the lesson was cool, i got everything you were doing, and got the concept. not my cup of tee though, but still a great lesson.

  • Thats pretty :)

  • nice!

  • cool
