You should ask for a replacement already, Time of repair for Toshiba depot is 7-10 Business days there will be a delay if they are waiting for a part but if hte laptop is in the Depot for more than a month now, you are eligible for a replacement unit...

Bought brand new Toshiba laptop satellite L640D on Nov.2010. Within 8-9 days found that built-in microphone dint work. Complained to Toshiba and to the Tata's CROMA store for replacement of defective piece but toshiba showed an apathetic attitude. After lot of harassment , I was forced to go to Service Centre who asked me to leave the laptop for their opening and repairing it which would take 8 days as the spare would come from Delhi. Its like just buy new and dump at workshop for repair.
Jetgirl why is Toshiba saying that its not covered under warranty? The only reason why they would say that is if there is physical damage or if you out of warranty.
I hate Toshiba. My brand new Satellite L505D isn't working - through no fault of my own, it just stopped working - and Toshiba customer service is telling me it's not covered by the warranty. So I would have to way too much to have it repaired. Never buy a Toshiba.
toshiba sucks i got a laptop 4 christmas after 3 days it crashed sent in 4 repairs cost me 32 dollars, got it back a month later same problem.. called back they said i had to pay to send it back in, no refund no exchange nothing very i sat on hold for 40 minutes 3 different times got disconnected 3 times they ask for call back # never called back.. very poor quality and customer support i would not reccomend toshiba to my worst enemy..so i have a 600 dollar paper weight.
