As often in these late concerts, Di Stefano brays and screeches his way through the duet (funny how people always say that Callas had lost her voice by then, whereas Di Stefano obviously had a far more serious problem). This is unfortunate, as Callas was in fine voice in Montreal; her performance here bears comparison with the studio recording made ten years earlier. If only she had had a chance to sing with a better tenor…
