If that was hard mode then technically he had gained an energy tank to put his energy count at 99. All energy is halved so you start with 49 health and each tank increases it by 50.

No. You still start with 99 energy in Hard Mode. Energy Tank pickups are halved though.

lol peoples this is hard mode each missle tank gives you like 2 missles each and in hard mode ridley does wayy more damage with one energy tanks he kills you in 2 hitz and if u say hes easy well yeah hes easy if u got lots of missle. hardmode=10% is like on easymode with one energy and 5 missle cause on normal and easy mode it gives u 5 missle so just by reading the comment you guys are like stupid o.o

I'm wondering what extra item you grabbed; the least you can have is 9%. I remember facing Ridley with a few more items than you had (1 SM, Charge Beam and Long Beam). Rather hard until I realised how predictable he could be.

cant you just go up the right path then drop down beside the elevator heading up? Then at the top of the elavator you should be able to go right again through the wall [the two headed statue falls] bomb through the wall and use the speed machine thing in the ground to return to norfair, not sure how accurate this is, I usually have the screw attack before fighting Ridley in this

It isn't a game bug, I skip Kraid Lots of Times, it is defiantly possible to escape Norfair without the speed booster, you just needed to look more. Heck things like that are what makes the game fun and replayable, unlike many other games. Unfortunatly Fusion didn't have this..and so it sucked a bit hahha, but yeah there was a way out if you ever try it again

You don't have to continuously keep wall jumping to dodge Ridley you could use morph ball and if you time it correctly you could dodge it. That's what I did. Continuously wall jumping really hurts the finger.

It's not the Space Jump. He's walljumping off a single wall (a task that's quite difficult for some people).

I've gotten good at it, but I don't think even I could manage to keep my cool enough to walljump as ajbolt did in this video.

This guy is okay. I actually rolled around and dodged the tail instead of wall jumping. Much more exciting. On my 15% Hard run, by this fight I had the Long and Charge Beam, 2 missiles, 1 Super Missile, 1 Energy Tank (you know so I had 199 EN) Screw Attack (!!!), and pretty much everything else that you must have. The long range of my beam helped a lot, and Screw Attack was excellent at breaking fireballs.

Yeah, he is easier. If you go through the game getting everything, he takes about 5-6 seconds to beat. Seriously! Just fire your Super Missles into him first and he will die quickly; he's much easier than Ridley X.

This Ridley does more damage and if he gets a hold onto you, you're forced to try and stop his firebreath from getting to you, while being crushed by his claws. one hit from this Ridley knocked ajbolt down 80 energy points.

It's called a "low percent run." He was completing the game with the least possible number of pickups. At the end of the game, he would have gotten a total of 10 items: morph ball, bombs, power grip, ice beam, the three unknown items, varia suit (technically skippable, but the game gives it to you anyway), and two missle tanks. You can get away with only 1 missle tank on normal, though.

Funny how Ridley was a huge vagina in the original NES Metroid (whereas Kraid was a bitch to kill) - and thereafter in the series the roles were reversed, Kraid becoming the pushover and Ridley posing more of a challenge.

That isn´t a space jump, it´s called wall jump, you can do it by jumping aginst a wall, when you touch it press the jump and the contrary direction at the same time, samus will "kick" the wall and jump again, you can do this repeaedly. Some people call it a semi-secret move, like the shinespark(sorry for the bad english, I´m learning it).

i did the same thing, i played it on hard way back when and never finished, i had 199 energy, and only like 20 missles. but i used charged shots as well. its so hard, but u get ridlys movemnts down
