I remember watching Shrek when I was 4 or 5.. :) We used to have the soundtrack. I remember in fourth grade, the first big story idea I ever got was inspired by the songs from the movie--including this one. Now i am almost 14 and that first story is no more (maybe one day far in the future I will write it again). I'm a vastly different person who no longer loves horses and wants to be a paleontologist, but a girl who wants to be a singer and loves Transformers. But I still love this song. :)
last night i tried to commit sucide to this song...i wanted to hear the most beautiful thing before i died. but something stopt me. i listen to this song this morning...and i feel reborn <3
@FrostedBlackCandy Thats not the way to go even if you think theres no way out. I know that sounds cleeshay and stuff but trust me when i say theres always something bright in the darkest of situations. Keep fighting dont let whatever it is thats bringing you down get to you.
NEVER and i mean EVER give up on life. pray, and look on the bright side if things. it may be kleeshay but that doesn't mean it is not true you may think that no one would care if you died but you have no idea. NEVER give up on life..... the life god gave to you :)
This movie came out when I was 4. Every time this song came on during the movie I would hide in my room, then I'd come back out when it was over. Now I can't listen to it without crying.
i don't think this song is specifically about finding peace through religion. I think it is about how divine the feeling of peace is after a time of sorrow.
@otaku161616 Yeah I'm of the same opinion... It's biblically based (The second verse I assume is referring to Sampson) but I don't take it as religious.
i love this song but i don't get it how come they said the women tied him to a kitchen chair...... << ... and the rest i realy find it confusing can someone describe the meaning thank you...
i would say this is a megaphore for living life to the fullest, despite the orld being a cruel place to live. hes saying its real easy to be a cynic but if there is a god, he would want us to appreciate every breath
OMG,this singer is John Cale singing this! It was written by Leonard Cohen in the 80s,and almost didnt get recorded at all,for the references to Bathsheba and Delilah. It chills me to silence no matter if its Jeff Buckley,Bon Jovi,The Canadian Tenors,or Cohen himself who sings it!
this song reminds me to start life again because my mother and father and brother died 6 years ago and i am alone this song is awesome awesome cool and i wish that people who lives in the earth listen this epic thing
she broke ure throught she cut ure hair that is terrible and loveable:) ahha i love this movie and musci it is a great consepect and love is more relligus than god god is love so hteres no way around it love what u can u only live once:) <3
Yes, indeed this song is sad. It provokes memorable thoughts of that special someone I've met long ago. We were shy, yet so happy together, we seem destined to be a couple with a exciting and bright future, but intervention of differences/ different worlds caused us to be apart, and part of it was my fault for letting her go. I wish I could go back in time, and make things right. I regret I did not fought hard enough for her. Now, like in the fairy tale, I am cursed to live with this forever...
was this an actual scene in the movie (as in the song really played over this scene) and if so which shrek was it in? my guess 3 but please respond so i know. please/thank you
This song's so beautiful, I first heard it in Shrek so it'll always remind me of this scene. but when I sing along to it I always sing in harmony instead of the main melody. It's more interesting.
WOW. I would buy the song instantly if she sang it, especially if she didn't dress up the song too much so you could hear her voice and not just wailing guitars. That is why people want to listen to her after all.(:

shinjitenousagi 1 year ago 2
@shinjitenousagi This song is so deep in message and have many semaphores for God. For example:
"Baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you"
Means that if you are alone in the same place twice it's not the same thing if you have God by your side.
"I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah"
It's about the crusaders. Make love not war.
And so on...
