Only 6 inches if ice? You must be quite a bit south...I was spearing last weekend on Snider Lake in the White Earth Indian Reservation and there was 21 inches.
Hey I'm wanting to get into spearing... I don't have a dark house though.... I was just wondering if a little portable fish house would work if I modified the canvas a little.
This past friday, I went spearing with four of my other friends. One of my other friends and I were sitting in his house for not but 20 minutes when in comes a northern. He told me it was mine to spear, so I picked up the spear, lowered it into the water, took aim, and gave it a good throw. I stabbed the pike right behind the head for a perfect shot. It was my first pike ever speared. Boy what a thrill. Not a very big northern, only 2 lbs or so, but what an experience.
what is that other bait? a live sucker?
