Is it just me, or does nobody know who these Irish engineers are. If they patented this, then it's theirs. Nobody is gonna steal it without repercussions.

Einstein didn't do infomercials to prove the general theory of relativity. He was published in scientific journals and his theory was proved by scientists in America(gravity is an effect of space time warping, not a force) by looking at stars/planets warping around the sun.

Actually a lot of web sites have gone into a good deal of specifics about what's wrong with the Steorn claims. Not that it's needed. The simple fact is they have yet to produce a valid commercial device or a demonstration device that has been evaluated by a truly independent third party.

Steorn is making some amazing claims. Until they provide some proof of those claims there's really no need to take them seriously.

That's a nice claim. Where's the proof? If this thing worked then it would quite literally be a scientific breakthrough that would reduce Einstein and Newton to irrelevant footnotes. Why haven't they published any of the theoretical research behind the claims?

What most physics students have learned (know) about the coservation of energy is rote learning: "Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed". After that it is assumed that this "law" applies at all times. It is great that Steorn have looked deeper and are bringing it to the world. No charade!

In fact, energy is created and destroyed all the time at the quantum level. However, no macroscopic event has ever been observed that contradicts the law of conservation of energy.

Either the law of convservation of energy holds OR there are perpetual motion machines. You can't have it BOTH ways.

Neat trick though - claiming you have a perpetual motion machine AND saying you accept the law of conservation of energy.

Unfortunately it won't wash.

Those engineers have been tricked, pure and simple. And it won't be the first time that has happened. It happens to scientists all the time.
