I look for a pentatonic minor rock bass player with blue and doria note flavor. My favorite note is E but A is also very fulfilled by attack. Keep in touch if here is any! Thank you! Also I vote video up!
MAN,how do you get that crisp tone,do you back off ur lows & mids? when i do that i feel like i lose 2much low end. maybe its just my ears.sometimes i have no trouble gettin it but i just can't maintain it. i've got a decent rig with a line6 basspod pro,a crown 1000wt p/amp.My jazz bass sounds killer on certain presets but some are unusable in a live setting.I'd like 2 find 1 settting i could use all the t[me but i keep chasing the tone. love the riff, but the tone is jammin!
i have such a problem slappin with the thumb, i cant hit anything besides the E with it because if i try the A or something i just hit like two strings at a time. any tips on thumb control perhaps? haha, i would appreciate it greatly
@iwaslikepfffft well...practice hitting the A string slowly until you can get a clean sound...and if your still having problems you can mute the E string with your thumb(left hand) or your other fingers....if the line isnt too hard.
Maybe I just suck...but whenever I do the opening riff to this groove (the hammer ons from the 5th to 7th frets on the E, A, and D string) the E string and A string seem to like to have their natural harmonics ring out. Are you muting those strings with your right forearm or something?
Cool, thanks. I'm not exactly new to stringed instruments, but the bass is my first in my line of instruments...my teacher told me some muting techniques I was doing weren't "fair game" and I wanted to make sure that was one. Thanks!
man, i noticed you have a lot of jazz basses, i have a standard 4-string jazz and i want a 5-string. Can you tell me if it is inferior in sound that of a 4-string? People tell me a stingray is better sounding than a stingray 5, so i ask, in a jazz bass is it equal?
Nice, I also use 45-105's (I use DR Hi-Beams Roundwound). Do you clean your fretboard each time you replace your strings? How do you clean it (with what chemical/s?), and do you wash your strings (if so, how) or replace them each time? and how frequently? Perhaps you could make a video explaining your process for that.. because you always have nice clean, bright tone :)
you should have a fret-less 5 string

Dunno, havent tried a 5 string for long, but why dont you go to a music shop where they have the same model in both versions and do a A/B test?
MarloweDK 2 years ago
Awesome! i love watching your lessons
do you mind giving us a tour of your basses and rig? and all that gear stuff? that'd be awesome
akkaa 2 years ago
Pretty sure he did that a while ago, in terms of his recording and a few of his main basses. Plus there's the TC electronic video.

Use denatured alcohol on your strings, you can clean them multiple times. Just let them sit in the denatured alcohol for 24 hours.

yeah you should do something along the lines of what cyberdems suggested
