are you nuts?? this hockey game wasn't sold out a year and a half in advance. packages including hotels were still being sold at the beginning of 2010, not to mention the fact that there were loads of Americans, russians, swiss etc at all the other hockey games their nations were in. admit it, over-canadianiztion made these games less fun for visitors, and the closing ceremonies sealed it. have a look at the video "No American Flags on Grainville Street"

When the games were in Salt Lake 2002, our tv was all about Salt Lake. Of course, Canadian's results were up there, in the coverage we saw, but the Olympics, at least on my side of the border celebrate the host country. The reason there were no Americans on the streets, they were home!!!

For fuck's sake, simply google "2010 OLYMPIC TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE". There were tickets available for all events INCLUDING HOCKEY. The Salt Lake games seemed to have a much warmer atmosphere mainly due to the fact that we didn't have a slogan that read "DEFEAT THE WORLD" and "OWN THE PODIUM". Americans didn't chant "FUCK CANADA" and we didn't use the olympics a means to show everyone how "AMERICAN" we were. See the fucking video "No American flags on Granville Street".
