And besides, dreads exist(ed), in every culture. The Roman's reported that the babaric Germanians had hair like "snakes". And we happen to live in "Germania" (which is Germany now), so I figure it is ok to upset the Romans by wearing Dreadlocks ;).

Bleaching is always permanent. If you make the ends wet and let the hair dry in the sun all the time, they will bleach gradually and naturally. Spending time in salt water is the best :)

Hi Rachel,

Hard to tell without a photo of you. Brown hair is no more boring than any other color ;). But you can always spruce up the dreads by adding colorful beads or dying the tips etc. We have styling tips for Dreads on our homepage. Shoot me a message if you are interested and I sent you the link.

Depends on how many and how long the locks are going to be. Plus your hair texture. In our salon it can take between 8 and 20 hours to dread the hair.

Well, we are not in the USA, but in Germany. Furthermore, those people wanted their Dreads to be big. Last not least, stop being racist. Dreads were and are worn by people of all colors since cave men times ;). But it is fine that you don't like them. It is nice that we all like and prefer a wide ranges of things. Otherwise the world would be a very boring and uniform place, don't you think?

Thanks, the purpose is to make them look as real as possible. Ideal for people who want to "try" locks. We make them by hand with the same technique as "real" dreadlocks.

Thanks for your nice comment. We are located in Germany and aside from us ;) there are not too many black people around. About 95% of our customers are white. However, I will try to include more pics of people with African roots in our next video. I'm finally going to get dreads.

I've wanted them for a few years, but was scared of when I had to cut them off, and what people would think of me..

My friend had dreads though, when she got sick of them she brushed them out..

I'm moving to a new city in a few weeks, and decided to finally take the plunge. My hair takes so long to style, I'm just sick of it.

It was either dreads or a moehawk, and dreads won.

Looking forward to it.

i would love to have dreads, the only thing that is holding me back is when i don't want them anymore...

i know you don't have to shave your head, and they say you can leave about 2 inches...

but is there any way you can just cut them shoulder length and then put Vo5 conditioner in it and get them out that way?

I know a number of people who got them out after they had them for 2 years using tons of conditioner. But don't expect your hair to be healthy looking. Depending on your hair structure, you might be able to get them out relativ easily if you cut them to shoulder length, condition them well and then start unravelling them from the ends up.
