Steve, I had one of these in my hands about a month ago in a thrift store. They wanted $3.50 for it. I did not buy it. Man did I miss a good buy! Thanks for the video brother
Neat little kit. I've NEVER been able to light a fire with any kind of lens. I can focus it enough to burn my skin of course but not to get anything like combustion.
I have been using a similar tin for over 12 years for my tinder/fire box. Great video. I found mine a mountain man rendezvous in southern Oregon hosted by the Tioga Mountain man. I have seen them for sale at the Gunworks Muzzleloading shop in Springfield, Oregon. They have a lot of great period tinder boxes and gear.
Now that's nice! The lens right on the tin/box... You know I should be shopping for others right now, right? You know you're making that pretty hard, right? LOL!
I want to buy this, just to try and use it to light my pipe. Damn nice job dude, certain I couldn't get fire that fast with it.

How do you keep the stuff inside the tin from scratching the lens of the glass?

@colddrake80 This lens is super convex and focuses like a laser. I have had trouble myself with other lenses in the past.
