  • This movie is x999999999999999999999 times better than the new one called "300",because the new is piece of a graphic shit and the actors act like they are some american bar workers and not true greeks.

  • @name12121212name how fucking dumb are you? 300 is based on a fucking graphic novel...

    dear god...

  • @name12121212name

The Only Problem in this movie are

    - They are not in Phalanx Formation , instead they used Wedge

    - Some Spartans are not wearing Corinthian Helmet and they Look like Praetorian Cohort ( a little )

    - The Cavalry Part was a bit wrong , They can pwn the cavalry charge but they lay down in the ground and they split their troops to pwn ( but it was a super epic scene)

and The Rest are perfect and much more accurate to the history

  • Some of the Spartans look like Romans.

  • 1:29 ¿Why is Will Farrell in this dressed like a Persian?

  • this is much better than the new one with the aliens and the gay!

  • This is so perfect.

  • @name12121212name history:A

  • @name12121212name yeh but the old movie had just as LITTLE historic accuracy than the new 300. So why not at least have it be extremely BAD ASS?

  • David Farrar was the man!

His Xerxes was so much better then Rodrigo Santoro's In 300.

  • @name12121212name 300 was not written for historical accuracy, more as an operatic piece. This film has just as many innaccuracies

  • Comment removed

  • All the old people think this movie is better than the new one.

  • this movie is shit coz it has no entertaining action. why do people complain about the studio animation, its ment to a be fun movie to watch not a discovery channel documentary.

  • i like how the old man said that if he was younger he would of brought his own sword

  • people dont understand that "300" is made to be a fishermens tale, meaning its exaggerated by the soldier telling it. you dont understand and therefore you fail to enjoy a masterpiece. the old is very good as well.

  • Epic ending! 300 cats, at night, scary sight.

  • They see in the night, like CATS!

  • Excellent film. More historically accurate then the daft but enjoyable "300" of more recent years

  • @name12121212name Right, that's why the didn't take oscar for seeing a plane flying over in the Graphics..

    For god's sake!

    That'd cost milliards!

  • The old one was historically more accurate, but the new movie is definitely more entertaining ;). What do you expect? 300 is based upon a comic only scarsely historical, it never had the intention to be historically correct, as it is just an entertaining film.

  • The actors of the old movie were Greeks. The music was greek (i think by Hatzidakis i am not sure - the original music not the one used for this videoclip). The land presented was in greece. The actor that played Leonidas was not greek and not a firm like Charlton Heston but played his part decently.

Spartans were great soldiers but REAL PEOPLE with fears and weaknesses. So were the Persians. Each civilization is to be rememberd for its contribution in human thinking and culture.

  • this leonidas is SUPER KICKASS, better of leonidas new

  • This actually made me find the 60s film and watch it, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Leonidas portrayed in this was much more heroic and courageous than the one in 300.

  • I thought that xersius was a giant

oh thats what they taught us in ancient

  • wats with all the fags liking the this old movie over the new one, yea this one follows the history more, but the newer 300 is fking awesome

  • @ecwwerulz2 What are you, 12?

  • Now this is some historical accurate stuff !!!

  • 1:30 - Fuck did he say?

  • it would be funny if the movie said coming soon

  • @name12121212name The new one is based on a comic, and it's supposed to look like it. It isn't supposed to be accurate at all. (sry for bad english)

  • THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this movie sucked in its own way and the new one sucked in its own way, at least the newer one was more entertaining

  • @name12121212name youre a dick, spartans had hollywood teeth and gelled hair did they ? film critic wannabe. this piece of shit actor has no passion when he says the lines what are supposed to give u an adrenaline rush....go rape ur ugly mother's saggy vagina lips

  • Love this movie. 300 was horrendous, sry2say

  • The new "300" *is* awesome in its own way, but this movie stands out a lot more because it's got more realness to it. I saw it once, that's right, once, on AMC as a kid and I never forgot it! :)

  • I have to say, I miss these old movies when it was real locations with big numbers of actors and No CGI. The new 300 movie sucked. This one is better.

  • No nigger-persians in this movie? :))

  • @unurautare2 You're stupid!

  • @3payne7 No u. :<

  • @name12121212name ok thanks

  • Many of you guys who hated 300 miss the point i think. It's based on Frank Miller's graphic novel version of Thermopylae! GRAPHIC NOVEL! Now realize why the movie was done this way! I love sword on sandal movie's so I can appreciate both versions of this tale. Look people, if you want to see a factual documentary on this story then go watch the History Channel! Please stop flaming Zack Snyder's version. It's gotten old. I get that to some it comes across as a jock movie.

    But it's not.

  • @name12121212name sure it was realistic , but how good was the acting ? was the movie epic ? thats what i like about a movie , this one was more realistic but it was no where near as epic as the new one

  • i dont think its a spoof but just an old version

  • i hated the 300...i saw this as a kid and I loved it...the other is for video gaming ADD youth of today.

  • 1:14, classic 50's-60s death throe.

  • @name12121212name there is a leonidas statue at sparta...his almost naked..how do you explain that??no offences, just askin'

  • this movie is inaccurate. where the fuck are mumakils, rhinoceros and troll-men?

  • I think all the wieners complaining about 300 missed the whole point of 300. -__-

  • In 300 there were goat men, monsters, zombies, elephants and black guys pretending to be persians as well as riding rhinos. 300 was very innacurate and freaking weird this movie seems better.

  • great movie

  • this video to me is a more accurate presentation of the real 300 spartans... i like this one better than 300

  • This beats the new 300 by a large margin. It's not full of crappy unreal monsters, and this is a must have for those who love the classics. A real epic.

  • kam sa hrabe 300 :D toto je troška

  • This movie was great! Better than the new one.

  • @Nightmonkey17 ofcourse.... because this was real.

  • Original stuff is always better than assorted comic remakes

  • 300 Spartans was excellent and showed that more then just the Spartans were needed. It touched on the efforts of Athens ships which without the Spartans would have had a more difficult time. However, with that said there is actually a funny effects moment in this movie. If you watch near the end when the Persians are attacking, you can see a spear thrown and hit one Persian in the face. If you slow it down you can watch the rubber spearhead hit him and bend and is just hilarious.

  • 300 was better than this one in my opinion.

  • @demeandr121 BALLS The 300 Spartans was a far better movie

  • @TAKEMARU666 America is based on British culture.

  • The old one is not camp. The new one has the gay, homo erotic factor ramped up to 11. Acceptable for Spartans admittedly.

This one had many advantages over the new ones, no Rhinos, no persians with Bondage fetish clothing, Actually showing the other Greek factions as soldiers not as scared farmers, (the only peasent soldiers there were Spartan auxilleries and slaves),

  • the new one it's worse than the old one... cmon... have you ever see bodybuilding gym in the ancient greece? or creatin? ahahah

  • Loled...shit...now im gonna have to watch the old one to see which one is better...

  • I wonder why in "300" The royal guard had no armor besides shin guards and vambraces, if they were fabled as walking tanks for their heavy armor and large shields in phalanx

  • Lmfao at 1:05

  • The old one was good for those days

  • LOL!!!!! XD!!!!

  • i lolled at 0:29

  • lol that shit looks funny with carton swords!

  • Ah, the days when great costume design was the pinnacle of special effects... simpler times.

  • @SkyIGR100

The Romans looked nothing like the Spartans. Their Italic allies and enemies would probably have looked more Greek, though.

The characteristically large Roman shield and Montefortino type helmets of the republic were influenced by Celts, not Greeks. In the early republic they may have had spears and hoplons, but their Italic allies and enemies were influenced by Greece, and visa versa. Recent studies have actually shows that the Kopis sword is of Italic origin.

  • @SkyIGR100

I wouldn't say that. Their Italic peoples were, though, especially in the south.

  • The old movie is much better than the computer animated 300.

  • @DukeFanGermany I agree the old one was really good.

  • I actually really liked the old "The 300 Spartans".

  • the spartans in this film look more like the real soldiers than the up to date one XD

plus zombies and monsters in the new one wtf

  • GAYYYYYYY

  • @00KittyChan000 300 was a true story ya know...

  • great Idea, if you have time for another how about using the audio track for the 300 trailer with the 300 spartans video, people should get a kick out of that. great job

  • It's kind of interesting because yeah some of the lines in this one and the new one are similar, but the phrase, "Our arrows will block out the sun." and "Then we shall fight in the shade." Were things that the real (leonidas second man i think) spartans said.

  • @jclark12345789

    Top notch. It was Dienekes.

  • Much beter than the new version that looks all C.G.I.Nothing beats real scenery and cinematography. The new version belongs in a video game.

  • the people who think the 2006 version is unrealistic its not the spartans are just exagerating so the other spartans know the reason they lost is because they didnt have a chanse (well they kinda didnt anyway).

  • lol @ 9:54

  • I don't see how this trailer is like the new one at all.

  • @amidoingthis some of the lines from this one is in the new one, and the story is near enough the same as the remake

  • @amidoingthis (come and get them in greek)(μολων λαβε)

  • @tb1519 I think you are missing the point of "300." I think this movie is trying to portray what common people back in those days, people that did not witness the battle, may have imagined how it happened. That is why I like that movie, because I see it that way.

  • the best thing in that movie is that it respected the actuall 300 spartans by sayibg the phrase (come and get them in greek)(μολων λαβε)

  • laugh out load.

  • @SkyIGR100

    one hundred?

    You must say 300!!

  • This is so perfect! What creativity to create this based on the more recent trailer, BRAVO!!!

  • This is a fantastic trailer. This is just what you would see if you were in the theater today. The only part that should have been added was where Leonidas says, "Sparta will fight - whethere others follow or not"

Again - fantasic trailer. I need to see the movie again (and I have it on DVD, so I think I will).

  • @SkyIGR100 no go at you and this is youtube so don't try to use the whole bad grammar and spelling tactics on me, anyways im stating my opinon that you sholdn't blame a movie for not being historacly accurate when it's not meant to be, it's like watching harry potter and saying it's a bad movie because witches and wizards don't exist. In 300 it was only the immortals that where POTRADED as monsters considering the tree of dead ppl earlyer in the movie, all the other persians looked normal

  • @SkyIGR100 my bad u never said that to me personally with that one comment on the views of persians.

  • @SkyIGR100 when they were shown that way as a visual metaphor, and i never said that thats what i think of persians so don't try to put that shit on me, the movie wasn't suppose to be historicly accurate jesus just take a movie for what it is, people are so arrogant these days

  • @SkyIGR100 its a dumb opinion because the new film is based on the graphic novel by frank miller wich is not compleatly accurate or is it meant to be, and for a graphic novel adaptation it's almost perfect

  • @SkyIGR100 GAHHH They're GREEK

  • leonidas is roman? Lol.

  • same badass theme from 300... but is it me or do all old movie actors sound the same

  • mexican persians? =O

  • music choice is good though :P

  • this one is better solely due to the fact that leonidas isn't roid-raging constantly.

  • برادبيرت

  • what the hell, i did not no spartans liked to wear roman ARMOUR XD

  • THIS IS SPART! wait, what? never mind...

  • THIS IS SPARTA! wait, what? never mind..

  • haha when the one guys says they see in the night like cats the other guy gives him a you fing idiot lol

  • then we will fight in the shades :D

  • lame :D

  • LOL :D

  • 0_o is this legit

  • @SkyIGR100 The new one was based off of Frank Miller's comic, not the real thing. It was supposed to be sort of "surreal"

  • guess they stole the costumes from ben hur....

  • haha You just made my day there xD

  • "..they see in the night like cats!"

    *teh fuck? face*

    love it

  • these guys are dressed like Romans

  • @limerick2090 they are kinda but about 80 percent more greek looking

  • oh thank god i am not the only one that didnt like the new 300 that came out to be honest i didnt even know about this move and in my honest opinion i think this one looks better then to one that came out lol i found this trailer buy mistake i was actually looking for something about britian removing there check system in 2018 lol

  • old movie was a true classic

  • the old movie was so much better, maybe some inaccurate, but this story is easier to believe than persian immortal zombies and crazy megatall-hype in chains

  • This movie is much better than new, new movie is a fantasy and it's sucks. I don't have anything against fantasy, but guys, if you calling movie by a name of real action, show something real. This is like to call a movie "D-day" and show there dragons as nazi planes lol.

Also, this (old) movie is very good, enough will be say that a lot of american movies were banned is Soviet Union, but this - not, TV shows this very often

  • The story Frank told did NOT , I repeat did NOT have zombies or monsters. The imagery was to portray what the spartans thought of their enemies. NOT how they were, There were visual metaphors, NOT actual stuff.

  • @BlackAngelGuard13 you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @twiztidlestat why does it even matter? Its movie based of matrix special effects with no plot

  • @twiztidlestat

Still, that movie was a disgrace for the Persian Civilization which was one of the greatest in ancient years. I don't get why your personal interpretation can cover the disrespect Hollywood shows towards History.

BTW, Why not make a movie about the wealthiest, bloodthirsty beasts who invaded a peaceful country, called Iraq?

You can analyze all you want, but after all 300 was a mainstream movie, created to satisfy the needs of this reckless pop-culture.

  • @HitByTime

It was a COMIC book movie. No more disrespectful than Captain America in World war 2, Or Ironman involved in Vietnam...But, I assume your not a comic fan, as comic fans know the books and don't judge them based on reality. Im not being a dick, but its based off a book. Not history, it wasnt meant to teach anything more than the power that the spartans held

  • @twiztidlestat

Look... I am from Greece and I grew up with the legend of Thermopylae. I feel that 300 as a movie and as a comic book diminished everything: from the two civilizations involved to the virtues of a man in general. It was just a presentation of meaningless splatter which unfortunately our world still needs apparently.

I'm not criticizing the fact that it comes from a comic book. I'm just pointing out that History shouldn't be violated so freely in the name of the masses.

  • @HitByTime

I respect that your from Greece. I really do, but the thing is, is that the historys are so old, that interpetations are what keeps people interested, and possibly look into it deeper than they would before. I do respect your opinion, I just diagree.

  • @twiztidlestat

Thank you for this civilized dialogue, my friend. :-)

I agree that interpretations can keep people's interest. But that should be done to the extent that no historical figures (such as Xerxes) or civilization (blood-thirsty Persians) are defamed. In this case, defamation is also achieved through Hollywood splatter.

BTW, I would like to recommend you the novel that both the comic and the movie were based on: "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield. That's a decent interpretation imo.

  • @HitByTime

Thank you as well, To find someone online who doesnt misspell and throw a bunch of immature insults when they disagree is RARE. I will check out that book, I always look out for greek referenced books. Ill pick that up the next chance I get. I agree that Xerxes got a bad hand in those movies, If he said he would give you the world, as long as you bowed, he DID. He did NOT lie at all, but the movies didnt portray that. Thank you for the conversation. Keep the comments coming.

  • @HitByTime

I just received Gates of Fire, since you recommended it. Thank you Ive read a few pages, and its GREAT

  • @twiztidlestat

I'm glad you like it! Have fun reading! xD

  • @twiztidlestat I love Gates of fire its a great book

  • @HitByTime Unfortunately the masses dont care about history. They just want a story. As such, there will alays be good guys, usually portrayed as square jawed handsome chaps, and bad guys, who will be caracatures, stereotypes and falsehoods rolled into one. Movies dont do balance, they dont do accuracy and they dont give a fig about Greek or Persian cultural heritage. (Or anyone eleses)

  • @Tiwaz81 That is one of the good things of Troy...and I know how innacurate it is but at least it presents both sides of the fight there is a side portrayed more evil and they win, that shall count

  • @twiztidlestat Yep. You know that. I know that. But all the people who watch the movie and havent read a history book since.. ever. Will take what they see on the screen to be in some way related to the truth. It happened after Braveheart, The Patriot and pretty much every movie about WW1 or 2.

  • @Tiwaz81

I tend to agree in a way. I was asked to read a book called Gates of fire by Steven Pressfield...AMAZINGLY written and seemingly much more accurate than 300. They both are GREAT interpetations of what they were, and in the ways they were made, I say watch/read both, and enjoy them for how you want, ya know

  • @twiztidlestat The imagery portrayed what Frank Miller thought of the Persians or what he thought would be more interesting to the average comic book nerd, very little is recorded of Spartan opinion on Persian soldiers or fashion.

  • Persians did not practice slavery as it was banned by Cyrus the Great.

Xerxes was no maniac. and Spartans didnt dress like Romans.

This movie is also very inaccurate.

  • The whole story is inaccurate, since it is widely acceptred that each spartan was accompanied by 10 helots, which raises the 300 to 3300...

But Romans dressed like greeks. The roman empire widely adoptet knowledge from the overthrown cultures they waged war on. So was the lorica hamata, the chainmail, a celtic envention, for example.

  • I don't think anyone said it WAS accurate. It was a popcorn action movie, period. Not a historical movie...

  • according to the painting they were also all naked

  • This film is not historically Accurate either!

Persians didn't dress in Black and they had colorful dresses that even impressed Alexander.

And Persians didn't invoke the war, the Greeks did by attacking Persia first.

Plus, Xerxes offered the Spartans safety many times, even at the very end when they regroup in a circle. He tells them that they are welcome in his country. He was much more merciful that it is depicted here.

  • @Arad737 actually... Persians did prevoke greek, we just learned about this in SS and the 300 spartan warriors inspired the rest of greek to beat the persains, without their contribute, lord knows what things would be like today!

  • i loved this trailer

yeah to me the 300 spartans is better but that might be because i saw that 1 first...

  • Come on, appreciate a movie for what it is, don't kill it for what it isn't.

  • Amazing film. 100% accurate. Better than the 300.

  • This film ranks better than 300

  • 300 is still better to me :D

  • Awesome movie, with REAL actors, REAL action, and REAL historical accuracy..compared to 300

  • a GREAT movie

  • The new one is completely better but this one tells more about the story, this isnt very relistic, but the new one is lol.

  • Flip that you mean the new one is unrealistic and this one is realistic with the location and size of armies.

  • No, the size of the armies in this is realistic? Have you gone mad? And the location, I guess in this one is more realistic, but the new one has more though.

  • The new one is based on an overexagerated comic book. This one actually has the true persian attire as well. The real spartans wore bronze body armor as well. The one in the comic.

  • Ah.

  • I agree, the new film is good to watch, in my top 10 films but quite a few bits are a bit odd like Ephialtes and those weird female things in the tent, And the immortals. I think what frank miller was trying to do was look at it how they would see the persians at the time, monsters and daemons especially with the rhino's and elephants as they were almost unheard of during that period. Exaggerated but unrealistic, apart from the numbers.

  • Frank Miller's 300 movie is to ancient Greek history is what Lord of the Rings is to medieval European history.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol@ the Persians being played by all white guys. Of course, I guess it's understandable considering how racist the country was back then compared to now, not to mention there weren't a whole lot of Arab-Americans in 1962.

But they could've at least colored their skin a little darker or something to make them LOOK like authentic Persians.

  • Persians were known to be even whiter then the Greeks because they always hid their skin from the sun.

  • Hm... Where did you hear this?

  • Read that, with the Greeks rediculing their white tan.

  • or if we say that the Aryan race had been originated in those originated ( India, Persia, etc

  • Persians are Indo-European Caucasians originating from Iran.

Persians are not Arabs - Arabs are Semitics from the Arabian pennisula.
