There was actually downed trees on the roads and a huge brach fell off out front tree barley missing our house. The next day we had no school and I found out from friends that the school went on lockdown a little after I left on the bus because of a tornado warning.

  • The winter in Chicago is EXTREME

  • Jeez,It rains down right disgusting here in Chicago...

  • sux

  • We get that kind of weather every day in England lol.

  • ive always loved downtown chicago =]

  • Somehow I think Chicago and New York City(where I live) as siblings. But it gets windier here. If any of you don't know yet, there's a possibility that here in NYC might experience a CAT-5 hurricane. It happens every 75 years, the last one was 1938 and now between the years of 2006-2011, there might be another one!

  • God forbid a CAT-5 hit NYC; that would be a major tragedy.

  • I know. But I'm afraid, it's gonna happen anyway. I wish and hope that it will be less than a CAT-3 storm. Where I live, the storm surge could come up to 10 feet!

  • When It Rain's, it really rain's!!!!

  • the tornado acually touched down on chicago's northside just north of loyola university. downtown chicago and the rest of the city just had a shitload of microbursts.its a good thing the tornado didnt touchdown until it got far east near lake michigan where they usually die out because of the lake winds.

  • my school made us stay inside and get to the tornado areas it was that bad

  • lol in texas we love the tornados in spring, you get to take breaks from school cause you have to take shelter! Yay!

  • WE dont get ant tornadoes but we did have and holy crap man thats crazt stuff

  • This is why the city is called "THE WINDY CITY"

  • yo what year was this

  • 2007.

  • when you live in chicago you get used to all the storms

  • ya pretty much tornados, wind storms, snow storms anything.

  • man i hate being in a tall building but being in a tall building in a rainstorm? oh no

  • I live in the burbs, and I remember that. That was fierce!

  • i been working on that day and it was crazy and yes it was raining what do u think. I was working on the 25th florr construction on the new apartament buildings on Wabash near Roosevelt it was awesome to watch from tehre.

  • no duh...

  • ive been there a few times but not on a stormy day

  • That's a ferocious storm.

  • nice video

  • cool rain vid

  • Is everybody happy now?

  • its a bit windy and raining

  • dumb ass video.. first of all did u see a tornado in this video? no... u know why? cuz it didnt hit downtown, it hit the loyola area (north north side) i live in wrigleyville, and we only had VERY strong winds....But i guess the poster had to put someting to get us to watch this useless video.

  • there was no tornado!!

  • omg i hated 2007 all wit tornadoes i live in b brook in ill. and it was about a week in augast that that happen and now tornadoes in jan???????????

i hope we the chicagoins have a good year i dont want tornadoes to hit us i mean we still young and we cant die!!!!!!!!!!

this is bull i hope global warming stops !!!!!!!!!

  • its only a storm ¬¬

  • agree'd but look up loyola chicago tornado its in the same storm this is just the gust front that came after it

  • It was a tornado, man.

  • looks like the windy city is living up to its name! those are some strong winds

  • I enjoyed watching this storm from my living room in my south suburban home... quite amazing =]

  • i was on the road when that storm hit, only to find out that my windshield wipers werent working. i was like 'ahhhh, fuck my life'

  • Haha. Yeah life is a bitch! :)

  • I remember that day. I live in chicago. and there was tornado warning... but it's cuz the winds were producing tornado-like damage in the suburbs--and the winds were coming to the city--and people didn't take the warning seriously--so there was a torado warning issued so people WOULD take it more seriously. but no... there was not a tornado confirmed. OWNED.

  • they don't do that, they will only issue a warning when a tornado is visually spotted or indicated on radar, both of which however can in some circumstances be mistaken

as for the comments about no tornado in the video there is none, no tornado hit downtown, if this is the day I'm thinking of it there were tornadoes in the suburbs before more formed on the beach near Loyola and on the lake

  • Actually there doesn't need to be a tornado. Radar may indicate it, but a tornado warning can also be indicated if conditions are very likely for a tornado. I remember a while back a tornado siren was issued an hour before this large storm struck where I live in central Georgia. The storm hadn't produced a tornado yet but was very powerful. There was no tornado but by the time the storm got here, the west end of town had gotten hit by winds in excess of 100mph but no tornado.

  • search over you tube you will find EAS warnings even befor the tornado hase touched the ground so yes they do warn befor its to late

  • then why did the sirens go off? huh? huh? huh?

  • man this no tornado its just rain and wind together!!!!

  • you guys saying u dont see it are pretty stupid... the only reason it doesnt look the way it does out in the middle of nowhere is cuz there is no dirt in downtown chicago so it looks clear

  • was this at or by the embassy suites in chicago

  • this is tornado? this is just a wind with rain

  • no tornado...YOU LIED...HOW COULD YOU BETRAY US...WHY!!!

  • Tornado Huh ????

Wow.....you must know so much about meteorology.....

  • that storm was crazy i was stuck at school until like 7pm and got home with a foot of water in my basement. But if youre wonderin gthere was a tornado ther wasnt it was a microburst with 80-100 mph winds

  • It's pretty obvious that there is no "Tornado in Chicago" in that video. If there were, though, you really shouldn't be that high up. You need to be as close to the ground (preferably underground) as possible. Take it from someone who has had roots in Oklahoma City, as well as Birmingham, Alabama.

  • Oh, I remember this! I live in North Aurora, far west of Chicago. I was just about to leave soccer practice from my school when the sirens started up. the Chicago area got pounded not once, but twice in a row with dangerous storms.

  • i didn't saw the twister!!!

  • if there was a tornado u wouldnt be up that high! *brainiac*

  • Wow thats 5 mins of my life thinking someone actually shot a tornado in Chicago...... Ur an idiot dude

  • i dont know about you, but i would be freaking out if i was on a porch that high up in Chicago during a bad storm, lol

  • no rotation, no tornado

  • Um, that's straight-line winds. Probably around 50mph. There's no tornado. At all. Notice the cranes... and everything else wind blown... moving in the same direction.

  • woulda sucked if you got blown out of that highrise

  • When I look at this and other Chicago storms, I think of the day after tomarrow. Bear in mind that I live in San Diego and never see anything but a DRIZZLE!!! Well we sometimes get 30 mph winds. Only in October usually.

  • i took a video of the roof blowing off of a high rise by lake shore drive and irving.

  • u should of seen the one in utah in 1999 it was horrible and sad.

  • it wasn't a tornado I remeber that here on Fullerton and Western and it was just a lot of very strong winds and lots of rain

  • We had one like this in Downtown Detorit about a month ago and it was even worse. Lots of car accidents because it was the middle of rush hour and a tigers game.

  • cool, now wheres the tornado????????

  • it can be tornado touch down area chicago

  • You can see the waves of rain pounding the buildings wow what a huge storm

  • The Windy city is damn windy!!

  • woow nice storm i wanna live there :D

  • That storm was crazy!!!! I work at Navy Pier and the wind was making the yachts come up with the water and looked like with the next wave, they would be on the sidewalk!!!

  • Whoa the veiw is so cool i wanna be in chicago but im in canada

  • how come there arn't any sirens going off???

  • god

  • Shouldn't you be looking for a safe place? Other than recording the scene from your window? But I love scene like these, its like a movie, lol. But I've seen worse storms that this recorded on camera, so consider yourself lucky.

  • this video should be called "bore-nado"

    becuase it's boring

how does feel to be a liar?

  • Ha ha bore-nado....thats funny right there!!

  • I was driving down to Joliet two days ago when that second storm hit. I seen the wall clouds coming down and the sky turned turqoise and pitch black like pavement right as the sirens went off. I had to help a neighbor during the sirens to stop flooding to his basement using a generator and a pump. Lightning all around us, that was just a nasty evening.

We've all been without power down here in Frankfort for 48 hours, but it came back on this morning.

  • i was stuck in a pace bus stop yesterday while the weather was like this

  • I'm coming to Chicago from the UK next week! Hope its not like that when i'm there!!!

  • l0l dude we're having bad storms so....Have fun!!!

  • Did the building sway?

  • Tornado or no tornado, nice video. That was quite a storm yesterday!

  • This system didnt produce a tornado in chicago, and this video dosnt have a tornado like your title says dumbass

  • Check out the news. Any way no one give you the right to insult me.

  • Officially, there were tornado warnings in the "Chicago area", though I didn't hear about any within the city limits. I will agree that insulting for no reason is rather stupid. I wonder if this guy is 13 or something. Brace for more storms possibly today, unfortunately...

  • yea they were outside of the city of chicago. This video is just rain and wind, pretty normal IL weather.

  • ITS CALLED A FREEDOM OF SPEECH

  • Freedom of speech, eh ?

Does that mean I can lie about what I am selling ?

    Or lie about you ?

Or post a video of one thing and say its something else ?

  • I agree with I enjoyed the video

  • There was an overall tornado warning for Cook County. But the only official tornado touched down in Winfield a Western Suburb. What happened in Chicago, which is not even pictured in this video, was officially called a microburst. And the weather was freaky, I'll give you that.
