Hmm, well every city in the world has a building commision which must approve that a bulding fits into the culture. This law in Switzerland is just saying that the Mosque architecture does not fit into Swiss culture and they have that right.

However, if they do that, then they violate the rules of freedom. I'm an atheist, but I am opposed to banning private churches and mosques and synagogues on private property. Such bans violate our rights to liberty and freedom of association. Who cares if minarets symbolize something? Banning a symbol violates freedom of speech!

I think that religion has a disadvantage under conditions of openness and freedom of speech and debate. Persecute religion, and you only make it stronger via the natural reaction.

Whether Muslims succeed in establishing elements of sharia in Switzerland or not, the presence of Arabs and their culture there necessarily means that the country becomes less Swiss. The Swiss people are entirely justified in opposing a non-European presence in their country.
