  • Any video on how to make the sides?

  • Thumbs up if you went out to your shed to try this but failed

  • are you using superglue for bracings?

  • is it just me or do you hear really quiet, quick talking from 1:48 ?

  • I watched all previous parts just to see how you bend the sides of the guitar. u.u

  • I know its been like three years, but how did you rout for the binding? Thanks for the vids

  • witch glue do you use?

  • Would you make a guitar for me if I pay you, and how much would it cost? :) Seriously. Please answer. :P

  • i heard theres a way of bending the sides by leaving them in boialing water for like 30 mins? can anyone confirm that :o)

  • Pretty gutsy drilling the tuner holes freehand.

  • 3:30 what is that?

  • @Bobomooman2395 It's a bending iron. Basically a hot pipe which is used to bend the wood for the sides or the binding materials. Some people use electric ones like that and some still use an old pipe with a propane torch to heat it up. Takes a little bit more work to bend things accurately with an iron which is why some use commercial bending machines such as the Fox Bender.

  • why did not you show us how you made the sides? If you had spoken telling us what you were doing, that would have helped. Anyway, great video.

  • how did u make sides

  • Wouldnt it be nice if we could move that fast?

  • what a speedy guy, you must do this a lot and be really comfortable with the process. jk lol.

  • I'm pretty sure he bought the sides. The only way I have seen them made is with a steam press.

  • Sides aren't that hard to make. Looking at the rest of the videos I'm guessing he bent the sides himself. The thing he's using to bend the purfling is a bending iron and you can use it to bend your sides too. Freehand bending with an iron is a bit more hit and miss than doing it with a press. I actually prefer freehand bending the ribs for my instruments. And, yes, you can buy pre-bent sides from StewMac but nothing beats doing it yourself.

  • would these clamps make depressions on the top or back?

  • exactly! why didn't you show us how you made the sides? I want to see! bump?

  • @kolialliotto They are spool clamps made for joing top/backs to guitar dies. They usually have a soft wood (or cork) on the part that touches the top/back to prevent it digging in. I always wondered the same until I tried them out.

  • @kolialliotto give the guy a break hes workin miracles with limited tooling...he probably used another workshop with a press to form the sides...i guess..

  • Are those clamps home made or purchased ?

  • 1:27 whooops!

  • wtf , were this the sides comefrom?

  • hey man! how do you make the lateral parts??? they're the most difficult thing....

  • ¡¡¡¡¡¡hey maaaaan¡¡¡¡¡¡¿¿¿como cogones doblas los aros??????¡¡¡¡ere un un atista¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • what kind of wood do you use for the sides too?

  • due,how do you bend that wood??

  • i dont know how he did it, but ive seen them steam press the wood into that shape

  • That drill bit you used for the tuning machine holes was a bit too long I think. The shorter the bit, the less wobble it may have. That wobbled a lot. Try brad point bits. Or better yet, forstner bits. They are very accurate. And you should clamp that to the drill press table. If the bit binds up in the channel, the whole thing could grab and spin at the RPM of the drill! Your hands are your life man. Keep 'em safe. Beautiful work! Peace.

  • D00d how could you leave out the sides

  • did u buy a book? or do u just know how to build a guitar?

  • I learnt mostly from reading and looking at pictures of how other people did it as they posted it on their websites, I also built smaller experimental instruments before attempting a full blown guitar

  • @CountryBoy2380 youtube search "Steve's guitar making" That's where I learned.

  • never disregard that last comment he has a heating iron, he uses it as 3:20. sorry

  • yes, my camera quit for a spell but I did the sides anyway with the heating iron

  • what the hell?...how did you make the sides?!? how u gunna leave that part out?!? man im all upset about it like its the end of the world lol

  • haha i was about to ask that. i bet u bought them!

  • HAHAHA the T.V. at 1:37

  • i wouldive put it all together at once then bind it. that wat gibson guitars do

  • well yeah

but gibson doesnt put NEAR as much care into their guitars as he does.

  • if u moved this fast, u can make a business making guitars under an hour lol

  • hox did you do the profiles ?

  • u really faster muahhaha :)))))))) :P

  • LOL supersonic

  • Yeah you definitely should clamp that down... It makes it easier to drill holes and you would get it cleaner...

  • Beautiful work - thanks for taking the time to video all of it - I learned a lot from your series. Working on my second guitar now

  • Quick tip: With the machine "off" position the wood under the drill press first, making sure you're on the right spot, then turn it on and drill your hole, that way you wont ruin the wood with the spinning drill. Just a thought...

  • Oh!! And don't forget to clamp the piece before drilling... NICE JOB!!!!

  • how did you bend the sides into that shape???

  • special tool! it warms the wood and it will be more flexable

  • amazing dude i like it alot im saving up to make my own drum set i have to buy the shells heads hardware so yeah my company is GRM custom drums

  • save some money on the bending iron they work great and are pretty easy to use but build a jig of the sides 2 pieces of sheet metal and a silicone heating blanket will work just as well and save a couple hundred bucks. nice job on the bending of the sides though if you did do them

  • I will for sure make a side bending jig, the bending iron worked ok for this project but it is more stressful. Thanks

  • hey do u live in luther oklahoma? cause i live in edmond thats cool well if u live there anyways

  • you can see the bending iron around 3:48 being used for shaping the binding

  • were did u get the sides? of the body it didnt show that u made em in part 4

  • I would presume he made them using a bending iron. Sides aren't that difficult if you have the right tool
