  • My brother's name is Canaan and so every time they mention the Promised Land it makes me think of him :)

  • No offence but those Egypitans were big idiots the way they went around killing newborn childrenl like that. The Pharoah's think they can just send their soldiers around slaying babies and/or feading them to crocodiles and they can get away with it? Well they can't! It's just wrong on soooooooooooooooooooo many levels

  • I used to watch this every time I went to my grandma's house. She's very religious and Jesus is Everywhere in that house, even in the bathroom O.o, It's kinda hard to go to the bathroom with the Virgin Mary staring at you. Sorry, got off track there, but this movie is beautiful, I get chills every time.

  • It's so beauiful that they say "Elohim" even though it's the

English version...It's the purest song I have ever heard.

  • song*

  • when i listen to this sont i cry every time to rememmber what they have done to us.

    hebrew.jewish.and israeli girl. (12)

  • Even if you're an an atheist, respect this song as it is.

Don't involve god into it and dislike this song for a stupid reason.

And I just want to say in honor of this gorgeous music, that I'm proud of my being

an Israeli and a Jewish kid (15). Greetings from israel :)

  • @atheist382 God is stupid? Wow, your arguments just keep getting stronger and stronger, I don't know why no one listens to you.

  • god is stupid.

  • Beautiful.

  • What the cartoon?

  • you have to admit that Ofra had a beautiful voice...

    *thumps up*

    Ofra Haza R.I.P.

  • This song.......has and always will give me goosebumps I love it -3

  • This song never fails to give me goosebumps.

  • 100 people are egyptian slavedrivers

  • @IAmCaptainMarvel God promised that land to Abraham, when he left his family, and proved his loyalty to God, and that was the reason why they called Palestine the Promised Land. It was their heritage. The name Holy Land was only given by the Templar Knights to Jerusalem, and it's a completely different topic. Sorry for my English..

  • this is my cuz singing!!!!!!

  • I never truly understood who actually promised them this land, the Hebrew God? (I don't know if it was said in the Bible, or....), well I guess it'd be a little weird if it were promised by the Egyptian Gods like Ra or Isis or something.

I know THE promised land is meant to be Jerusalem (or you could say The Holy Land/Palestine in whole) but who told them?

  • @IAmCaptainMarvel Got gave them that land when their nation started

  • @Msflixmix i mean god

  • @IAmCaptainMarvel God had promised Abraham and his descendants, the Jews, their own land and country so they would not be wandering shepherds forever. That is one of the reasons the Israeli people are so bent on not losing their country.

  • sooooo sad what happens to the babys =(

  • When she puts the basket in the ....

    Is it a river ?

  • This is one of the few songs ever in any animated film that actually has depth in it. You can seriously feel the sorrow and promise in this song. Ofra Haza did SUCH an amazing job. She is greatly missed...

  • I saw this as a kid and now having a son of my own put a whole new movie in front of me. To give up a child has got to be the hardest thing to do.

  • What languages is this song in?

  • @HakunaMatata520 its in the 'show more' part

  • This literally brings tears to my eyes every single time I listen. So powerful.

  • Most epic opening number since 'Bells of Notre Dame' from The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. :D

  • Her voice gives me goosebumps too.

  • goosebumps :s

  • quick question. weren't they taking first born sons? or all sons? because she had an older son

  • @5kia5 They were taking newborn sons.

  • Not even religious, but I absolutely love this movie and its music.

  • when the guy pushed the old man slave and the other slave i almost shouted out "B!tch!" but i stopped myself =)

  • God can hear people cry and he will deliver us from our spiritual "Egpyt". Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord!

  • I can help but feel nostalgic and then cry...*sigh* i miss my childhood so much!

  • I'm an atheist... and I friggin still love this movie.

  • @evilsushix Me too!! I guess love for good music and good mythology is very common :P

  • @atheist382 No offense, all of the atheists I know have one thing in common: they are all pretty arrogant. I don't really know why...

  • @athiest382 wow you really have no life just sitting around everyday watching videos of moses... Wow ur low. And fine, u dont have to believe it! Just don't shove atheism down our throats.

  • @atheist382

Yes. Because being a pompous ass, saying your way of believing is the ONLY way of believing... Oh yes! Yes, that's SO much better than being an overzealous Christian! Yes, you're so superior! ... Honestly, do you have a life other than trying to shove your believes down the throat of others... That's not hypocritical at all. And SO aggressive in your post.... Well, I suppoooooose that must be the way to world peace, if you say so.

  • @SuniLaMoon *beliefs

  • @atheist382 Don't really get why you'd come to this video to say these things. You do realize you are doing the same thing as religious fanatics when you shove Atheism down peoples throat's this. Just enjoy the music and keep your mouth shut.

  • i love this!!!! why did she die?

  • I STILL get chills when I listen to this song, and each time, tears come. Love it! Never gets old!

  • This is one of the MOST powerful scenes in any movie, live action or animation, that I've ever seen. Ofra did so well on this and the art is so detailed. Will never forget this for as long as I'm alive

  • WHY ISNT THIS IS BROADWAY!!!!! >:(

  • this song makes me want to cry

  • SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN TRUE = 777 in x3 TRIPLE SEVEN IS GOD WORD = 777 in x3 THE ALPHANUMERICS FROM YAH = 777 in x3 YEHOVAH GOD IS VERY GREAT = 777 in x3 YEHOVAH IS TRULY GREAT = 777 in x3 YEHOVAH LOVES YESHUWA = 777 in x3 YESHUWA LOVES YEHOVAH = 777 in x3 YEHOVAH IS YESHUWA'S GOD = 777 in x3 YESHUWA IS THE SON OF A GOD = 777 in x3 YESHUWA IS CREATOR OF MAN = 777 in x3 CHRISTIAN RELIGION IS GOOD = 777 in x3 A=3 B=6 C=9 D=12 E=15 F=18 and so on all the way to Z in x3 through the alphabet. add it.
  • @ZiorSamuel what does this have to do with this video?

  • Where are the aliens that helped them to build? lol

  • i get chills from this song i love it :]

  • 100 Egyptian soldiers don't like this. ;)

  • You don't need to be religious to appreciate a good film.

  • Beautifully arranged...this song still gives me chills. Ofra Haza's voice is full of so much emotion, you can really feel the mother's pain.

  • Just cause its dream works it dosnt mean its disney! Dream works OWNS disney but its not DISNEY MAKING THIISSS

  • I thought the pyramids were built by tax labour...I guess disney failed again

  • @MrJero85 This isn't Disney you dumbass.

  • I love the mothers voice and the small sisters voice

  • I've listened to this song at least a thousand times, and each time, Ofra Haza's voice just sounds more and more beautiful. She's absolutely divine.

  • This is such a gorgeous song...!

  • Prince of Egypt Musical! How epic must that be on stage...

  • i wathed this movie when i was 5 and i didnt remember till my social studies teacher put it on LOL

  • I heard of Ofra Haza just today and her voice is so strong and powerful. It literally stuns me to the core.

  • Comment removed

  • Literally brought tears to my eyes

  • Need more Disney movies like this.

  • @shanicebrnt71 This is by Dreamworks, not Disney... O.O

  • @shadowflame771 Thanks for the correction. lol haha

  • MARAVILLOSO!

  • Just like the lion king, this motion picture has an amazing soundtrack!

  • I think it's an AMAZING movie by Dreamworks..I love this story so much and even though they didn't tell it very accurately,it's so good..........

  • Pointer, although I'm risking an "I've been told half a billion times": It's "Libéranos", in Spanish...

  • 20 likes and i'll upload a vid of me singing the momma's part =)

  • @RenaAngel same here!

  • OMG! that baby has the worst luck!!!

  • BEST PART 6:37 and so on!!

  • Easily the best opening sequence I have ever seen.

  • what i find the most amazing thing from this is its effect

this song has been translated into 17 different languages!

most movie if they are realy that popular don't even translate the song!

Let a lone by the same person!

    and going though the comments

most of us first watch this as a child

and dispite all the different religins and languages

we all (well most) agree on one thing

this is an amazing song that effected all of us in someway or another

  • @thechildofthefuture i cried when i watched this because i got to see gods power and its so amazing

  • @thechildofthefuture It was translated into more than that.

  • I'm pagan but I can still appreciate the beauty of this movie :)

  • my favorite parts start at 2:01

  • My teacher did a comparison of types and figures in the Bible of how Egypt represented the world, Pharaoh as Satan, and the wandering as our faith (1 Cor. 10). I tend to keep walking in circles myself in the desert, but eventually I'll make it to the Promised Land. :) I love this movie.

  • That's it Im becoming a jew!

  • story is bit coloured but still beautiful

  • Cudne!

  • RIP Ofra x you gave this song meaning and life in so many ways

  • I love little Miriam <3

  • No wonder he walked around in the desert for 40 years, he got his fucking brain damaged when he floated through the river...

  • @MattssonTheMan he wonderered the desert because the jews were being disodedient to God

  • @marquee367 How do you know that?

  • @MattssonTheMan its in exodus

  • @marquee367 Ok, that means it's true because the bible is a book built on facts with great references (not a story book).

  • @MattssonTheMan wat?? that comment jus confused me hahaha

  • 5:45 Hey, how you doin'? ;)

  • I used to watch this movie all the time when I was little, and the song that his mom sings always made me cry, and it still does. Such an amazing story this is.

  • This movie touches me everytime I watch, specially when God speaks to Moses;

  • This film frightened me as a child

  • i can't stop watching this. it's so powerful

  • God this movie is beautiful. This song. The visuals. The feeling you get from it.

You wont be able to see something like anytime soon with 3D animation....

  • When people in my class are asked their favorite musical artists, a lot of them say, "Lady Gaga" or "Katy Perry" or "3OH!3", "Eminem" or "Kid Cudi" or "Justin Bieber". I love the weird looks I get when I say "Hans Zimmer".

  • Comment removed

  • i would hate for that to be my last lullaby

  • i cant imagine what she went through just to save Moses.

  • THE best opening scene in the history of Dreamworks animation? YES.

  • @GuitarKat93 So very true! Amazing in so many ways!

  • @GuitarKat93 Dreamwork's best movie.

  • @GuitarKat93 Agreed!

  • His sister is so brave. I wouldn't have been able to watch him be carried through all that. I would have dove in there.

  • As a Muslim I believe in this story exactly as the Christians and Jews do. I just really wish we could all get along...

  • @AzzaBoi95 Me too. One day we will.

  • @AzzaBoi95 As a Christian... I wish the same thing. It's very encouraging to hear a Muslim say that. Thank you.

  • @VelocityTino Same thing here...

  • @VelocityTino Are you surprised that me as a Muslim said that? please don't be, there are many other Muslims out there such as myself who want peace

  • @AzzaBoi95 I meant no disrespect by that. I'm not surprised, I'm encouraged. I don't know any Muslims personally as I come from a semi-isolated area, but I still believe that most Muslims want peace. It's one thing to believe that, and another thing to see that belief confirmed. You confirmed that belief so I was just thanking you because it's encouraging. : )

  • @VelocityTino anytime brother :)

  • @AzzaBoi95 I know what you mean, I'm a Christian, but one of my clostest friends is a Muslim and 2 others are Sikhs. The rest are Christian and Athiest. I'm lucky 2 b in such a multi-cultural group, I wish there were more like mine!

  • @10thDoctorLove same, i have a similar kind of group of friends just like yours :)

  • @AzzaBoi95 I do so too

  • @AzzaBoi95 Amen to that. i do to....

  • @AzzaBoi95 I pray you ask in your heart for God to lead you in His direction. Not in mine, yours, or anyone else's but in His direction. May God richly bless you my friend. Much love.

  • @MrJgkeeling May peace be with you to my friend :)

  • @AzzaBoi95 same here.

  • @AzzaBoi95

If only more people could see things that way :)

  • @AzzaBoi95 We all believe in the same God, yes? We just call Him by different names...

Our views on the Messiah are different, but there's too much controversy because of that...

I'm a Christian, and I really wish we could all get along as well.

  • @AzzaBoi95 The sad part is the majority of us can, but a few narrow minded individuals won't let it happen.

  • Hans Zimmer is a genius...

  • @MagicTricJoker So true! I think he has an awe inspiring gift!

  • Love all the Disney movies about the prophets. Don't love any of the prophets. I wish they had been like their Disney versions. (Love from a so-called "daughter" of Mohammed hahah. )

  • @fulyai This isn't a Disney movie. This is from Dreamworks.

  • @fulyai This isn't a Disney movie, thank God.

  • not a strong believe of the bible or god...but i honestly love this song lmfao <3

  • why are the two top comments on this Christian movie from people who dont believe in God ?? O_o

  • Comment removed

  • @MissIAmSwagg Because you don't need to be religious to enjoy a good movie.

  • @MissIAmSwagg That's a shame isn't it. But I'm still glad that people from all walks of life can enjoy this film. Even though it is a Chistian film.

  • AAAH i learned english with this movie haha

  • I always cry at 03:20

  • This movie is so powerful. I find the animation and the music just breathtaking. Because its based on such an incredible story it makes it even more epic. Everyone can appreciate the beauty of this art no matter what religion. As long as people respect each other and live by 'do to others as you would want them to do to you' we can all coexist peacefully.

  • I love God and i love this movie!! :D

  • So powerful.

  • Love this movie! Makes me feel EPIC!

  • I think everyone of different creeds can enjoy this movie. It's an amazing retelling of the exodus story (that actually focuses more on the relationship between Ramses and Moses) and great animation. All this, and I'm not even religious.

  • For all the people who dnt believe in this thats fine and ur opinion but y would u come on this video and comment this stuff is "crap". i mean after all ur the one who clicked on this in the first place have sum respect.

  • Ofra Haza's voice was absolutely beautiful in this song

  • I'm a muslim and i watched this when i was a kid it's not 100% like in the quran but it has a lot of truth in it and i like it alot

  • This is the best song in the whole movie

  • If I see anymore atheist vs religious battles on here I swear to Ammaterasu I'm going Egyptian on all your sorry asses. News flash, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE RELIGIOUS TO LIKE THIS MOVIE! THAT'S WHY DREAMWORKS MADE IT! Gami! If you wanted to debate what you believe go bitch to your local church pastor and trade weed with your teacher. Not saying atheist aren't welcome, they are. They're bitching on religion on the other hand, not so much.

  • @AnimaMatcherMaster29 Best comment so far :'D By the way, what is Ammaterasu again? A Hindu god/ess? I remember hearing something about it, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

  • @KimiNoSaigoKissu Amaterasu is a Shinto goddess.

  • @roguegirl29 Right right! The godess of sun! Now I remember :D

  • i still love this movie but i'm sad for what happen to the other mother's childen and the slaves i really feel sorry for them "cry cry" really i do

  • @atheist382 where's YOUR proof?

  • I contend that we are all atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours

You're basically killing each other to see who's got the better imaginary friend

There is no god...There is no afterlife...You are on your own.... When you die, your body will just rot into the ground, and you will become worm food.

This is the truth...Stop deluding yourself with weird medieval superstitions!

  • @atheist382 Get over yourself. Let people believe what they want to believe. Ultimately, there is nothing you can say or do that will change their minds.

  • @atheist382

But even Christianity, which is young compared to, say, Judaism, predates the medieval period by a millenia and then some.

  • @frodowise Of course Christianity is younger than Judaism. Christianity was born from judaism.

  • christianity will die out in 1000 years, 3000 years is about the lifespan of any major religion

  • @p90xsteroids By that logic, Judaism and Hinduism should already be dead. And they're not dead yet.

  • I don't pretend to know just how much of the Bible was actually true. But it was one incredible story, as is so plainly clear here.

  • Dang... every time I hear this song I get the chills. This is so beautiful

  • baby moses: oh hi, i was just being adorable

Queen of egypt: we're adopting him

  • SO BEAUTIFUL!! I WANNA CRY!...

  • I`m muslim and its really surprising how similar the bible`s story of moses and qurans version is. very SIMILAR! even though i dont agree with this movie 100 percent but i still LOVE it and the soundtrack! luv!

  • @blackwolf1415 Read the story of Joseph in the Bible. I would tell you the story myself, but it's too long to post on youtube. It's hard to explain without going into the story, but basically God used Joseph to save his family and the Egyptians from a terrible famine, and thats how the Hebrews came to Egypt. I recommend you read Joseph and Moses's story's in the Bible, their stories are really interesting.

  • Question please answer cause im curious: how did the jews even get there to be slaves were they taken from their homes from somewhere else or what?

  • @blackwolf1415 Well they are actually the Hebrews and the reason they became slaves is because the previous pharaoh who trusted Josesp the son of Jacab ( do you you know the musical "Joseph and the amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat?) died. A new Pharoah came into power who didn't know Joseph or his family. The Hebrews started to multiply in numbers and this freaked him out. So to keep them under his thumb he made them into slaves and thats right about where the story in THIS movie begins :) (Y)

  • @VDiddy881 You stole my comment I was gonna say that! :P

  • @blackwolf1415 Joseph brought them to egypt.
