It's because power plants are much more efficient at converting fuel into energy than your car engine is. Even if you're charging your car from a coal plant, you're still doing a big favor for the environment by using electric over gas.
hell yea finally someone fucking gets it, you are still gonna burn the same amount of gas to get the elec to charge it! bad ass keep it up, maybe next year they will sell a car with 1x1 drive and a engine smaller than my lawn mower. o wait fiat makes that shit....
I own a JK and i think this is weak shit. I love mine but i have put some extras on it to make sure it keeps it's jeep card. This luxary SUV doesnt even get a jeep card.
Technically speaking electricity is a low cost alternative..now...but when or if these cars become the norm the energy concerns will just charge even higher rates, essentially costing as much if not more then a gasoline equivalent. All i have ever heard is how ill prepared our electrical grid is and now they want to add electricity sucking cars to the list. Not sure the plug ins will ever be a true lasting alternative.
i hate how chrysler is making the wrangler a SUV.. All the electronic BS avaliable is taking its glory away.. Soon they will limit the wranglers off-road capabilities with the unecesary shit that US jeep owners hate on our wranglers..
the ONLY way this would be cool is if it were single motors per wheel. but still why a heavy wrangler instead of like a compas (which i already dislike) or a cherokee.
im not sold on a straight EV yet but a hybrid jeep would work wonders on the trail using the e-motor in low gears equals insane instant torque.

i doubt the majority of people who would consider buying a jeep wrangler would look twice at an electric model.

it comes from coal and coal is much less inefficient than oil. But hey I'm all with you. If a car doesn't roar its not a car.

loosing air, I had the same problem and it should not so be.
-1- fix the ventil properly , put some soap on it and if you see bubbles you know enough
-2- the metalwheel are not round
-2.5- you take too fast the corners directly at the start of your journey.. air can escape
-3- proper tire size?
-4- did they drove at salty shore and did not clean well
