On the other hand, he's just trying to help newbies with techniques. So ya gotta cut him some slack. Dude, you got decent chops. If you really want to help newbies, re-shoot your videos, cut out the foolish stuff, and, slow things down a bit with some tighter shots of the various techniques that you're trying to teach.

A 4 string bass is not necessary, you can get as many strings as you like, some of us like fingers, picks aren't always necessary.

So I stumbled on this video by chance. I know what the guys is trying to do...so for that it's cool...beginners, I get it. BUT OMG you might need a cord, maybe a pic, and uhhh..yeah a bass. You can use any amp (at the moment I'm still using my first amp; a 50watt Drive amp) but it's best to use a bass amp (because it's not healthy for the amp if you play a bass through a normal amp... Plus, bass sounds better on amps with higher wattage)

i use a quad box to run the bass through a marshall stack for the bass and a hartke 4 10" cabinet for the treble and distortion

this is by far the dumbest thing i have ever saw. i have been playing bass for about three four years now and you dont need to stay in tune to know what you are doing as a matter of fact i would like to see videos to encourage people not to stay in tune which ever sound you like is best and you dont need to read shit out of a book either learn it on your own thats the point in it you think billy sheehan and flea had guitar lessons?

Flea DID have bass guitar lessons, he goit them from Anthony's childhood friend.
