Nice vid. But. When u put oil in and checked it and started ur motor. Did u let it run for a minute then shut off then let stand for a few min then check again? Other than that you did everything correct
i just bought this same bike from the bike show... looks like the same type of oil change on my 96 ninja thanks for the video... sick bike my friend look forward to riding this coming 2012 season
@Paiadakine thats too cool. go for it, save yourself a pocket full of money doing it yourself...you can spend that money taking the bike somewhere nice :)
@aissa196 I have to be honest and say I'm not sure. All depends on the exhaust (full/silencer) and if its a road or race exhaust. with some its as simple as removing the end can from its bolts and attaching a new one but with some you my be required to adjust and tune the bikes to accept the exhaust via a powercommander etc.
was beautyfull wether(not evident in belgium, lol),some friends passing by,couple of beers, cleaned the bike as well, had a very good afternoon so,from now on,i do it every time myself!!today, let's ride!!!!! ciao!!
when i took off the fuel tank it still leaked a bit fuel so i immediately turned it upside down and placed it on top of a crate, lol,it didn't leak at that moment but the tank slot doesn't seal of perfectly! Result,a new pak of sig witch was in the box didn't survive, lol! But otherwise things when't well due to the vid ! i changed the spark plugs as well, had to make a call or 2 to fiend a friend with the wright wrench as it needs to be pretty long for a motorbike (get one before opening the bike)
good vid ! i'm gonna do my first zx-9 oil change tomorrow.good tip with the piece a wood ! I wouldn't mind paying the garage 60euro's to do it for me but i payed 50 euro for my castrol oil and this is just to important that i know it has the wright oil in it cause i suspect many shop owners use cheap oil in order to make more profit. using a modified bucket to collect the oil so better test if it can contain 3.3liters,lol !!!
@donkeyshot73 lol yea I got scared when I used my bowl to collect the oil but was lucky it only just reached the top!! yep u best test if it can carry the oil lol!

Thanks man! good video . I just bought the Repson 10w40 fully syntethic for my 2006 zx6r. I am going to do the oil change myself instead of paying $60.
@tunjuelito haha, $60 is $60 saved :) I use a brand thats made specifically for a company called hein gericke here in the UK. Its cheap as chips & almost identical to the more popular brands. I change my oil every year and sometimes twice a year...so you can imagine I dont want to spend too much. :) However I cant really comment on the fully synthetic oil you have...I've heard that the fully synthetic oil make the clutch more prone to slipping...but I'm no expert! good luck with it my friend!
@justcallmejoeable Hi, my purpose id so that the oil drains easier. eg if u were to change the oil in your fryer/chip pan in your kitchen, when cold the oil can become somewhat thick and if sold enough oil can get very think. motor oil is able withstand cold temp neway but i personally find if you heat the oil, the liquid becomes more viscous and water like making it quicker to drain!
lol in the parking garage, well i dont do my at my house either, i ride over to friends house since he has flat surface around his home. very good video
@Deyo99 haha, another reason i dont do it in my own garage is because any oil spillage on the floor indicates a bad motor and if i every come to selling a car/bike for example and people see oil on my floor then its a big put off, also cars always leak oil in the parking lot so i'm not adding something new lol thanks for watching :)
thanks mate, will add a new vid soon on how to clean a rusty bike chain, i've kept the ninja stored away for the winter and will be doing some more vids shortly because i will be preparing it to go back onto the road, thanks for you comment :)

what is the purpose of bringing the engine to operating temperature prior to draining the oil?
