I recently discovered Sawyer's work, after googling atheist sf writers. The first of his novels that I read is "Mindscan" which combines fascinating neuroscientific extrapolation with explorations of ethics, philosophy, psychology, and the nature of human consciousness with an exciting, fast-moving plot, top-notch characterization, and suspense.

Sawyer is the genuine article!

You know what I love best about Sawyer, is his generosity in promoting other Canadian publishers, authors, etc., when in theory at least they are his competition. Nice video, very typical of Sawyer.

I totally agree. I am a Star Trek fan, so I think I've been sheltered from other great Sci-Fi writers. I saw his Neanderthal series (the first book)on the Space Channel in Canada, so I picked up the first book since it won the Hugo award. I thought well it must be good. Haven't stopped reading his stuff since. So Happy I found him. Makes me proud to be a Canadian when I see him in the public eye.
