  • Oh dear. That was an interesting thing to share with the world.

  • the worse recording ever.

  • #FAIL

  • This is NOT Bands of America and should not be mistaken as such. This is a revival of Paul Lavalle's Band of America. While they have announcers similar to BOA they are NOT BOA.

  • Oh my God!!!

  • i played this last yr on piccolo and its wayyy to slow, the trumpets are blatty, and really out of tune

  • you guys our philharmonic band is hella better

  • It really annoys me when people assume high school band members don't know anything about music, or that it's only the high school band members that think incorrectly about music.

  • ya ik same here

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

    Terribile ahahahahahahahah xD

Peró si sono impegnati dai... ahahahahahaha

  • not them...it's RALF's fault...as disgusting as it is...they just ....oh wait...never mind...no one can really follow RALF anyway!

  • WTH?? Where's RALF now? After this didn't the messytro flee to South America....does this band still exist?

Maybe the members should crawl back to their roots...and find a director who will "grow'" them, and allow them to continue playing....but responsibly!

  • This is really slow. When I played this with my orchestra we went a lot faster. It sounds weird at this speed.

  • your right o_0 And Its Pretty Off Key

  • The percussion woman is soooo bad!! I can play it better

  • actually what you think is 7/4 is actually two 2/2 measures and a 3/2 measure, i'm playing this in my band.

  • You know what he meant...time structure is identical

  • I like NHK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA version

  • yeah, when Bernstein himself conducted it, I'm pretty sure he played it faster than this. I have a gut feeling though that it sounded better performed live by this group. My high school marching band played this, and it was a tough year, let me say that. They did well though and placed 2nd at state with it.

And i agree with the percussion being off and balance being wrong (on the recording)

  • its a band playin an orchestral piece. wind ensembles dont quite have the fire and speed that strings do...but i agree with some other posts saying that the percussion parts were a bit off and that the mic placements couldve been better perhaps the quality of the recording seems like the mics are all up in their bells and stuff...omg this is BOA? damn they sound weird...not that good to be BOA...i think i blame the maestro

  • I heard about this opera, but it's too slow

  • Don't play a piece just to play it! Play it so that you can say "oh, yeah. We played 'Overture to Candide' it was amazing!" And what the hell happened five minutes into the piece? It says GRAND PAUSE not GRAND RALLENTANDO. Not played up to as great a standard in my opinion. BTW, I am playing this right now, and I can say that we are playing it rather well at a tempo of about quarter = 150.

  • ooohh!! my god... The perscussion is aaallll wrong :S:S That old lady just didn't know the rhythym :S:S:S

  • I don't know why but this has really bad balance and tone quality. I wonder if it has to do with mic placements? I mean I'm just comparing this to other professional recordings on Youtube such as one conducted by Bernstein, and also one with the Japanese Wind Ensemble and the Hong Kong Wind Ensemble. Just really bad. I mean their notes were okay, but balance and tone/pitch were just bad.

  • Indeed.

  • even the peon band under gammil played this much better!

Hell the band he destroyed to form this band played it better the year before!

  • Do I know you?

  • Yes.

  • @ddttrrb72 The band he conducted before this did not get destroyed. I've been President of that band ever since he and Tom quit to form BoA. We are much better off now than what we were with him.

  • Faster :-o

  • My high school band was better than yours cause my brain's under tempo... and i've played that before... so yea, give me a medal for being in HS and not knowing how to spell when i type....haha..Yeay for high skooolers on youtube!

    Overall a good performance.

  • The conductor really looks like he wants to go faster!!! Yes, the piece is somewhat difficult. Maybe a simpler piece should have been chosen? I love the piece though.

  • Our all state wind ensemble played it better than this...

  • Would've been better if it were up to tempo. still good though.

  • our philharmonic youth orchestra is playing Candide. We sound ALOT better

  • mayn im tellin u guys shouldn't talk about them because my band is playing this song and it's not east. they did fantastic all things considered. yeas it is way under tempo and everything but the tone quality is great.

  • well um...tone quality matters the MOST!!! u dont get credit for just playin notes...tone quality is what counts!!

  • no its not

  • This is a semi-pro group made up of mostly enthusiests and high school band instructors.

  • ralf takes them where no band has gone before?

  • brasses weren't that nice, but the woodwinds were good.

  • yeah this doesnt sound too good in my opinion.

  • Plus, the band wasn't good enough to play the music.

  • There is exposed to be timpani, and it was really under tempo. In Addition, when the conducter really slowed the band in that one section (glitter and be gay) was stupid on his part.

  • lol
