heyyy kaporaldanger!!! you did a really good job, im impressed! can i please ask you something? im new to solidworks and i have no idea how to save the motion study video i made in a file on my computer... can you help me? thanks in advance

Thank you for that fantastic tutorial! I just started using solidworks and bought the SolidWorks 2011 book which covers beginner to advanced topics, and is very comprehensive. I often use the book as a reference to go through.
i use autocad all the time and i have 3dsmaxx but i didn't know the dwg files were compatabile
cheers for giving me hope...how did you get the shine? did you set up light points and it did itself or did you have to edit the properties of the objects?
one small error. the sprocket is reflecting the light intermittently when it rotates. this behaviour leads one to believe the angle is changing wheras the angle is actually constant. this gives off an impression there's a dented sprocket 0.04 - 0.11
@xURH3ADxMYBULL3Tx looks more like a 1 cylinder, 2 stroke (someone please tell me what it actually is, I think I might be wrong) engine. For use on small vehicles like dirt bikes and such? I don't know anything about engines! So I am kinda guessing :3
@SlimySnail44 correct to some degree, it is a tapered cylinder micro bore nitro fuel 2 stroke single cylinder commonly used in rc cars, boats, and aircraft. no other applications. usually 1-3 cc's. I have no experience with any of this computer design stuff....but im a mechanic. so there ya go! haha.
so i'm curious. For your animations, did you use actual mathematics to get perfect timing or did you just eyeball it so well that i cant tell the difference?
ok.. I will look before I ask the 400 other questions I have.. but one thing stands out on yours.. How did you get the light 'glare' effect.. what is that? is it in 2009?
@tugfitz Yes it is ! its in the render settings (F10) under the renderer tab. scroll down to the camera shader settings and tcheck the output box, select the glare shader, drag and drop the shader in the material editor to adjust its setting.
@KAPORALDANGER actually the glare shader was, I believe, even earlier than 2009 release. It was a hidden shader in 2008 and you had to unlock it by editing some files. Dunno about the versions prior to 2008
@nitroghost666 More of a coincidence that you asked that question and got a response about a physical engine. A spline in 3ds Max is more or less a modifiable line.
Very awesome. Great job. I'm trying to constrain roller chain myself and for the life of me, I can't figure it out.
I created a part that consists of my chain path in sketch form. I have my links created but can't figure out how to constrain them to the path. The closest I can creating a work point where the midplane and axis intersect on each hinge. But it will only constrain the links to the line. Do I have to use the spline tool to create my path instead?
try doing it in Inventor 10. the animations are much sexier, but as a whole your correct. very nice model btw. if you want a larf, check out my vids. they are all my simple ones LOL
That chain is beautiful! How does one make a roller chain like that in Inventor? I can get one with the Design Accelerator but it shows me a ribbon-like thing that represents a chain. It works perfectly well as a demonstration, but it sure doesn't look as good.
No you actually gonna need to model the chain links and assemble them on the path.Thats where Autocad mechanical becomes real handy.(It Comes Standard with Inventor....) Thanks man !
das glänzt aber alles schöön :)

theres no clutch
IsmaelAdame 2 weeks ago
@IsmaelAdame at :43 that shiny gear is the clutch bell. the cluch shoes are inside of that and the flywheel is behind it. its not a normal clutch.
Super03terminator 2 weeks ago
@IsmaelAdame Centrifugal clutch is pretty visible next to the large spur gear. Almost all small scale engines like this have a similar clutch design.
