I have this record on blue amberol # 1560 it is announced and it is probably the only blue amberol that is announced as that is usually only on two minute edison gold moulded records and the practice ended around 1909. The blue amberol record of this song was released in 1913.
Back when that cylinder was made it wasn't considered polite to get your reproducing equipment out in public. Now you can post it on youtube; what is the world coming to?
wonderful machine i have an old phono its a stand up model from the charmophone company i never seen another one like it and i also trying to find a cyclinder phono
The music is actually a wax or tinfoil covered cylinder that you spin while a stylus reads the bumps and ridges in it and vibrates to make the sound. It's more complicated than that, but it's the main idea. Thomas Edison invented them.
I'm guessing that the record is pre-Amberol 4 minute black wax (the kind that wore quickly though this one's in good shape). The machine looks like a Home with a 2/4 minute adapter so that's probably a Model H reproducer?
I wasn't referring to the cylinder recording itself; I was saying that even though I do not know when this particular recording was issued, I know that Arthur Collins first issued this song on Victor Records in 1905.
WOW!!!! I saw this video last night, and today I found myself singing it in school. What is the name of this song and what is the name of the singer in the song?
You know, most people today are turned off by this type of music, but it still is important to keep these records because they're a part of our history!
i would give one of my legs for this cylinder........take a pick haha, arthur collins is great and this is my favorite song by him

Sounds great for a recording from early 1900s.

Thank you for this. It is almost haunting to hear just a clear voice of the past. People had a good sense of humor back then.
