@KereHeath IF ... if you ever get to "see" BATTLETRUCK (or if you can remember) & know the scenes INSIDE the Clearwater village DOME ..
Kelly Johnstone "plays" as a village BOY .. whom KISSES Corlie .. on the CHEEK .. when accepted into the village community.
He was ALSO -- Rusty's HANDS .. when they "created" the so_called VW? (using one of my Uncles "Triumph Herald" FLAT chassis - for HUNTER's battle wagon)
Thus- it was a conglomeration of welded SCRAP (from around MY UNCLES Triumph CARS)
Re Ur reponse to @stelley08 Re: Goodbye Pork Pie is a 1981 New Zealand film directed by Geoff Murphy and written by Geoff Murphy and Ian Mune ... "filmed during November 1979" [unquote] from Ur comment @KereHeath (7 months ago)
AS .?
GOODBYE PORK PIE - was the 1st MAJOR acting for the "so-called": Jerry Austin.(played by: Kelly Johnson)
As Kelly Johnson "himself"
HAD (just) THE YEAR BEFORE- been "in" a subserviant MINOR ROLE
Yes -- i do "know" the serial number... It's..? Um .. where's my glasses.? Ama presents: Goodbye Pork Piw Approximate running time: 90 minutes (copyright) AMA 2005 Asrwork, Packaging, DVD Menus & DVD label (copyright) Magna Pacific NZ (digital) BAR CODE: 9-315842-033163
hahaha - yep -- an iconic 'madaz" KIWI film .. filmed the only way -- we know how.. (as funny as F**k) ..
And ..?
It's on VCR as the original version (but you won't find a copy)
And DVD .. via "The Directors Cut"
A so-called remastered version .. which simply takes the L+R analogue stereo -- and "boosts" it into a digitally delayed rear L+R (with a MONO frontal centre tweeter, midrange as the fifth ch
And then bypasses all by the lowest subsonic frequencies
Love how U put in the info" [quote] Go out and buy the DVD! [unquote] And then completely FORGOT to tell them: The serial code of the DVD. From one end of the country- to the other, nothing could stop them ? As they zigzaged (all over) NZ Taking the longest route possible & BACKTRACKING several times Just to get a few MORE scenic shots Such as: All the way down the west coast. (via Haast pass, Tarras & Cromwell) AND THEN.? BACK to the "east" coast Waitati & the Northern Motorway
"Hes Crazy!" speak for yourself Blondini, you drove trough a mall, done doughouts on the roads, dodged people and trolleybuses and sped through a packed train station. XD!
I'd like to know where a couple of the locations they used are / were. One is Mulvaney's workshop, the other is the street where they drop Shirl off outside an old wooden garage with a big '22' on it. [I think it's up Mt Vic somewhere]
@05jrock Hey thanks mate, will go look when I am down there next.. heck, I have driven up Aro St so many times and never realised that's where it was.
@05jrock Yeah I bet it has... over 30 years now since it was filmed. Heck, has it been that long? : | Quite likely that the garage at 22 has long gone too. If you look carefully in that scene you can see the city in the background, which puts the camera somewhere on Mt Vic.
The Garage at #22 was #22 The Crescent, Roseneath. Use Google Maps, do street view and you'll see the resemblance. Garage is gone, new houses there now...
@stelley08 Goodbye Pork Pie is a 1981 New Zealand film directed by Geoff Murphy and written by Geoff Murphy and Ian Mune. The film is considered[by whom?] to be one of New Zealand's most popular films, and is occasionally considered[by whom?] New Zealand's equivalent of Easy Rider.
It was filmed during November 1979, and during filming, utilized only 24 cast and crew. Its overheads were surprisingly minimal, to the point that the Holden Police cars used doubled as crew and towing vechiles
A "must see". I saw the movie in Auckland when it had its first cinematic release. One memory is that when they were driving over the old Mangere Bridge (now sinking) there was a burst of laughter as the current bridge (still under construction when the film was shot) had had its problems....
The entire movie was filmed in chronological order in a matter of weeks in late 1979 (released in 1981 though) and those HQ Holden cop cars in this scene (they appear continually), actually doubled as towing vehicles for the crew!
I'm more like " its my car so no put the fukin spliff out, it stinks, arrgh, get out yer cunt, aaaaaaa, the smell of herb in a car is worse than the smell my brain!"
You can purchase a new R0 pal copy. This movie has never been put on R1 ntsc although used ntsc vhs are available, therefore you are not going to find it for rent in the U.S. For further details check NZVideos.

It's strange to see the area by the Beehive so un-built up.

@redfive86 hahah - so.. the "ply- tic (ians) house on the hill -- the WASPSNEST .. wasn't built up -- arond it.eh.?
well -- try doing doughnuts .. across the Cromwell bridge "NOW" ..
as like.. it's ONLY about 100 ft UNDER WATER
(Clyde Dam made short work of "all" the good Cromwell scenery - as well as 19 miles of the NZR "rail" corridor)

@nzmedic No worries.
It has changed quite a bit since the film.
The fish and chip shop and the bakery are there now instead of the houses that were shown on the movie.
Never did find the garage #22 though.
