Yeah, let's make a fuss over a joke and say it is outrageous when most people do fuck all to help them sick kids. Let's forget about babies dying of AIDS in Africa for a bit so we can write some angry letters. It really annoys me when people get outraged by a jokes like this, especially when they do nothing to help the sick kids in those beds.
it's not like they were targeting the kids, but more on the make-a-wish foundation itself. people just love starting a shitstorm over such petty issues
This show was really lame. If these guys had been born in the UK or the USA they would never have had a comedy show on tv. It speaks volumes about the comedy vacuum on Aussie TV that these chumps had a show
@eminemdisstopia It's called humor. Go get some. Even if you think this is crap it still might have been put to air in the US. I mean Big Brother did....

It doesn't matter what they intended, using terminally ill children as a vehicle for comedy is morally repugnant. I just hope the people that try to defend The Chaser in regards to this skit never have to go through the heartbreak of watching their child die from a terminal illness. Any person who finds this skit even remotely humorous obviously has a brain the size of a peanut ! And to The Chaser i say "SHAME ON YOU".

This is the thing about comedy, it's a matter of taste. Why people get so upset over this when they don't get upset over all the other jokes in the media ie Channel 9 News for example is more of an indication that many Australians just don't take seriously things that ought to be taken seriously. Australians tend to have their priorities completely skewed. Hope the Chaser come back in one form or another that upsets all the self righteous dickheads in this country.
'It was meant to be so over the top that people wouldn't take it seriously... didn't convey that properly' <--that was the problem, the sketch wasn't funny, if it had been funny they would have gotten away with it.
i had cancer when i was younger and make a wish actually took me to disneyland just so you know. i love the chaser's and while i feel the ending of this joke was in poor taste i dont think they should have bee taken off the air at all for it. lol here's a pencilcase.
@MrNottsCounty One look at your channel makes me seriously doubt this claim. While I apologize if you do have a clinical illness, the fact that your "about me" section reads only "i am a rapist with 300 pounds of cocaine up my ass" raises some serious questions.
@Dirtyblue929 yah dude i made a bloody joke when i made this account - what am i supposed to be some sort of lifeless twat, no - anyways I was with them when i was 10 yrs old, im 16 now so yeh ive gotten over my sickness and im just another guy now okays? gah
@bennyboytalk yeah bro I have a muscular dystrophy, and have a neurological brain disorder that comes along with it, that shuts down my central nervous system, i thus had episodes of uninverted yelping and could not control my body nor breathing when I was 10. it was brought on via breathing un normalities, & and i was basically having stroke like scream attacks for a week, it was the most horrific week of my life. the starlight foundation have made my life much more enjoyable with their wishes
@bennyboytalk anyways they were taking the piss, I wasnt terminal - perhaps to someone who did go through a terminal sickness they would be more offended. I'm a huge chasers fan nevertheless, they go out of their way to cross the line sometimes, and thats exactly what they did - i still stand behind my comment
@MrNottsCounty well i do appreciate your comments. i do happen to have Cerebral Palsy myself which make me speech and walking patterns slow and hard to justify. I do know your illness is different but i would find it disturbing if my son or daughter was being laughed at when they just want to go to Sea World for the day and having a day off from doctors sticking needles in their arms
@bennyboytalk yeah mate i play paralympic comp with blokes and girls who have cerebal paulsy, its out to offend, chasers always are - thats whats funny nowadays, especially on the ABC, just ask the chasers, Chris Lilley or Myles Barlow.
Fucking hell, if we could direct just half of the outrage directed to the Chasers re: this skit to all the fucking lies, bias, misinformation, racism, in mainstream media and redneck radio, Australia would be a better place. I bet many of the douche-bags who got pissed with this skit, never think much behind the outrageous headlines on the daily telegraph or other conservative media.
@clumpft i fully agree with you, media today is a circus the oversize most things and get people worried about a lot of things,if you've seen how much crime and poverty has decreased from the 1980's to today you'de find the media is a joke.
They shouldn't have to apologise. Sure the sketch wasn't very funny and was definitely in bad taste, it wasn't more offensive than other stuff they've done. Or that other shows do, for that matter. There's far more offensive material on Family Guy and South Park and other comedy shows that push the boundaries.
Really, the mainstream media has a fatwa on the Chaser, and any time they put a foot out of line, Channel's 7, 9 and 10 will attack them until bored housewives actually give a shit.
Although I thought the sketch was just dark humor and sarcasm, I do respect the Chaser for their integrity and sincere apology and they are better off for it.
I loved the chaser the whole time when it was on the air, I watched every episode and loved every over the top joke of theirs but this was a little too far for even me. I dont think the show shouldve been put on hiatus over it but the anger towards them was justified.
so they should apologise. chaser's is generally incredibly funny but the make a wish skit went too far. "why make an effort for kids who are going to die anyway".. too far.
@figaz555 i cant believe that im even going to go here, but you know what? im going to try and explain right and wrong to a souless demon such as yourself. why make an effort for a child that is going to die anyway? even though that person may not have a long life, it doesnt mean its unimportant or that they dont deserve the best in the short time they have. when you are dying i hope no one comforts you - i guess its a waste of time. you are dying either way. why help anyone? we are all dying.
Why do they deserve more than any of us? They have done nothing more than I have to deserve so much frivilously spent money and peoples time. Any one in the whole world could die in an instant. What party do they get?
@figaz555 people dont just die of cancer, its a process. often it can take years. when you've had that amount of suffering i do think you're entitled to some happyness. your arguement is lazy and self centered. of course somewhere in the world there will be someone who deserves this stuff and doesnt get it. Does that mean people should just stop doing anything kind for anyone? i dont understand your need to break this down. why cant you just be happy for them?
Because they could grow up to be dole bludging pedos. They have not done anything (other than have a problem) to deserve anything more than the treatment and a solid standard of living. Obviously everyone wants them to get better but the sketch couldn't be more spot on about the extravagance of some of these adults who think it's good to pretend to be a do gooder rather than help someone cure the problem.
@figaz555 im kind of doubting the majority of those who are helped by the 'make a wish foundation' grow up. and your right, they probably havent done anything other than have a problem - often for most of their life. even if everyone in the world tried to cure cancer, it probably wouldnt happen in those kids lifetime. you can try to find something wrong with giving a dying kid a tiny bit of happiness - go for it. the people who donate to this cause are giving those kids the only thing they can.
I simply think there are better and less extravagant charities than can contribute to helping sick kids. The sketch satirized the foundation and not the kids and this proves half the country is far too thick to understand the difference in a satire, and a funny one at that.
@figaz555 how can you judge a person on what they could be? no one could ever know. what i do know is that the majority of those kids are decent people worth helping. the make a wish foundation isnt always extravagant - for example one kid asked for a dog, another a concert ticket. i think you misinterpreted the joke - the chaser wasnt having a go at the make a wish foundation, they were having a go at the people who actually believe the opinion they portrayed in the skit.
No they were making fun of the charity you fucking retard. If you can't understand that you are clearly a fool and should be put down like the dog you are.
@figaz555 im sorry? did you not hear the vid above? 'we didnt ever wish to imply that the make a wish foundation does nothing other than good work. we thought the skit was so over the top that nobody would take it seriously. ' the truth is that people do have the opinions expressed in the skit (proved by your existance) and the chaser was trying to show how over the top it was. dont message me again. nothing you have to say interests me - im no longer going to indulge your warped opinions.
And I know that many won't grow up as you put it, although I think that they may not have been destined to be high achievers or even half decent people in the first place. WHAT have they done to deserve such extravagance that normal hard working people may NEVER get in their life.
@figaz555 i have already answered that question. the kids have been dying of cancer for years. not many hard working people have to do that. have you even been on the website? the stuff asked for wasnt that extravagant- a holiday, dog, meet the wiggles (wiggles did that free). most hard working people will have a dog, a holiday, and can buy a ticket to the wiggles. there will be people who deserve this stuff and dont get it. Does that mean people should just stop doing anything kind for anyone?
@angelzpoo They were making fun of the charity not the children themselves. Furthermore the children will die so why not use that money to prevent other children without non curable disease from dying? Why not use the money from these charities to save the ones we can. what is the point in using money on kids that will die no matter what when there are other kids out ther who wont die if the funds are given. Give money to dying people 2 times as many will die to the reverse 1/2 of that wil die
@bloodymarry667 please don't message me. I'm not going to waste my words repeating an arguement i've already had. feel free to read my other comments.
@figaz555 just a thought, maybe its not that they deserve it any more than you do but the fact that they will never have a chance to earn it for themselves?
You boys did the honorable thing of apologizing even when you have no case to answer, that's real class not the vultures and attention junkies who have another reason to attack you.
In my opinion the Chasers have nothing to apologise, the "Make a wish foundation" IS full of shit....The sick children already have their parents buying them stuff like toys and books, they don't need the public to donate money for toys or holidays.
There are people who are much more unfortunate than these sick kids in Australia, for example the people in Africa who are suffering from poverty and disease. Tthe money they used for toysto feed a entire village for one week
If they did anything wrong it was preaching to a more widespread audience in their previous sketches/works. This wasn't a great Chaser sketch--I wasn't even watching it by that stage--but if they had started out with this stuff, maybe they would have defined their audience moreso. The problem was that their show became a regular weekly watch in so many households, everyone raved about it, and the popularity gave them boundaries rather than freedom. The sketch itself is clearly dark satire.
these guys will only understand that its not funny when their kids are in those situations and everyone else that thinks that this was funny. once your kid is in this situation you wont't find it one bit funny
They're finished. That's where they are. It's their own fault. Like all failed stars, they gain massive popularity to start off with, but, after that, it eventually gets to their heads and then they think they can get away with anything, so they try other stunts until they go too far. They went way out of line with this stunt and it's now killed their career. Good riddens.
@ManFromMelbourne It's "Good riddance", mate. And I don't think the skit killed their career...I doubt they would have continued with another season anyway. They probably would have moved onto something new. These boys, if anything, have only gotten better through the Chaser.
@ManFromMelbourne i wouldn't say good riddance. The boys will be back on our sets in another form of a comedy program. Keep your eyes peeled, genius :)
I LOVE the chasers, and they've done other sketches on the chasers war on everything that could be seen as attacking sick children, it's just that they're more popular now and every second stunt they do ends up on today tonight and a current affair...R.I.P Chasers WOE:(
cmon its just a show, the chasers didnt no they f#$ked up, they thought they could make everyone laff, if you were a tru aussie you would just forget about it and get over your selfs, The chasers are awsome
just to put it out there no one took into account of the actual children involved, if the hospital or the children and families filmed had a problem with the sketch they would not have given consent for the chasers to use the footage of them so im pretty sure if the kids involved didnt hav a problem why did everyone else go skitzo
um . the childern involved werent really ill children. They were child actors who got dressed up with some make up and bandages. so if nething, that worsens the whole thing. wat sort of influence is this imparting upon the children involved in the skit?
Totaly thought they used real sick children and thats why everyon whent crazy about it, well that just makes it seem even less of an attack on sick children now, that makes it seem not as bad to me
um . the childern involved werent really ill children. They were child actors who got dressed up with some make up and bandages. so if nething, that worsens the whole thing. wat sort of influence is this imparting upon the children involved in the skit?
Do you mean to tell me that Tabatha has to give back the pencil-case? On top of her six months to live I think that sucks. I think she should get to keep it for her bravery. I also want to say that I think she is a real trooper for not allowing her illness to stop her from partaking in the 'Be Brave And Shave for a Cure' fun day. I know that this clip was posted on June 09 so I just want to say I hope you are not dead yet. Have a great day. Also try to eat something, you look terrible.
I believe the Chaser crew are a bunch f decent and insightful human beings. Hell, if those selfish, ignorant parents with their spoiled children can't take a fucking joke and learn some moral lessons from it, fuck 'em!
Dude...first of all, FUCK YOU for saying shit like that to me.
Trust me, I live in a place where young kids get sick in a poor family and no one cares enough to give them money for surgery or medicine. I say stuff like that because I am not raised in a "priviledged" family myself.
your trying to control someones actions, which in itself is fundamentally 'bad' im not having a go at your background, education or environment etc. However, the intention behind your words is contradicting the message your trying to relay to the chasers, basically your refusal to accept a perfectly justified(albeit unnecessary apology) as well as generalised insults towards a group of people you dont know is pretty lame
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
they should re visit the graves of those sick kids if they die and just say that joke again and see if it is funny ..sick peices of shit you should all be killed
Get fucked you stupid mole, it was an over the top joke. It was tasteless but you get that. You should be killed for your comment....Learn to spell and use proper grammar you dumbass.
i found it humorous...the diff between the ppl that actually saw the sketch for its humorous value and those that didnt is essentially the difference between people who sympathise or give shallow pity to satisfy their own egos and those that just take things at face value
make a wish got tonnes of donations when this happened, if anything the chasers did well to get them so much publicity.
and it's good that they mentioned they didn't agree with the decision to take them off the air, it was purely the tv network trying to make themselves look good.
Pussies, they should never have apologised. People that were offended either missed the point of the joke or just saw everyone else getting offended and joined in.
Yeah, let's make a fuss over a joke and say it is outrageous when most people do fuck all to help them sick kids. Let's forget about babies dying of AIDS in Africa for a bit so we can write some angry letters. @MrNottsCounty One look at your channel makes me seriously doubt this claim. While I apologize if you do have a clinical illness, the fact that your "about me" section reads only "i am a rapist with 300 pounds of cocaine up my ass" raises some serious questions.

MrNottsCounty 9 months ago
@bennyboytalk anyways they were taking the piss, I wasnt terminal - perhaps to someone who did go through a terminal sickness they would be more offended. I'm a huge chasers fan nevertheless, they go out of their way to cross the line sometimes, and thats exactly what they did - i still stand behind my comment
MrNottsCounty 9 months ago
@MrNottsCounty well i do appreciate your comments. i do happen to have Cerebral Palsy myself which make me speech and walking patterns slow and hard to justify. I do know your illness is different but i would find it disturbing if my son or daughter was being laughed at when they just want to go to Sea World for the day and having a day off from doctors sticking needles in their arms

jerkward4 3 months ago
They shouldn't have to apologise. Sure the sketch wasn't very funny and was definitely in bad taste, it wasn't more offensive than other stuff they've done. Or that other shows do, for that matter. There's far more offensive material on Family Guy and South Park and other comedy shows that push the boundaries.
Really, the mainstream media has a fatwa on the Chaser, and any time they put a foot out of line, Channel's 7, 9 and 10 will attack them until bored housewives actually give a shit.

I loved the chaser the whole time when it was on the air, I watched every episode and loved every over the top joke of theirs but this was a little too far for even me. I dont think the show shouldve been put on hiatus over it but the anger towards them was justified.
Alienm00se11 1 year ago
so they should apologise. chaser's is generally incredibly funny but the make a wish skit went too far. "why make an effort for kids who are going to die anyway".. too far.
angelzpoo 1 year ago
@angelzpoo
Too be honest it's true.
figaz555 1 year ago
@figaz555 i cant believe that im even going to go here, but you know what? im going to try and explain right and wrong to a souless demon such as yourself. why make an effort for a child that is going to die anyway? even though that person may not have a long life, it doesnt mean its unimportant or that they dont deserve the best in the short time they have. when you are dying i hope no one comforts you - i guess its a waste of time. you are dying either way. why help anyone? we are all dying.
angelzpoo 1 year ago
@angelzpoo
Why do they deserve more than any of us? They have done nothing more than I have to deserve so much frivilously spent money and peoples time. Any one in the whole world could die in an instant. What party do they get?
Fucking do gooder scum.
figaz555 1 year ago
@figaz555 people dont just die of cancer, its a process. often it can take years. when you've had that amount of suffering i do think you're entitled to some happyness. your arguement is lazy and self centered. of course somewhere in the world there will be someone who deserves this stuff and doesnt get it. Does that mean people should just stop doing anything kind for anyone? i dont understand your need to break this down. why cant you just be happy for them?
angelzpoo 1 year ago
@angelzpoo
Because they could grow up to be dole bludging pedos. They have not done anything (other than have a problem) to deserve anything more than the treatment and a solid standard of living. Obviously everyone wants them to get better but the sketch couldn't be more spot on about the extravagance of some of these adults who think it's good to pretend to be a do gooder rather than help someone cure the problem.
figaz555 1 year ago
@figaz555 im kind of doubting the majority of those who are helped by the 'make a wish foundation' grow up. and your right, they probably havent done anything other than have a problem - often for most of their life. even if everyone in the world tried to cure cancer, it probably wouldnt happen in those kids lifetime. you can try to find something wrong with giving a dying kid a tiny bit of happiness - go for it. the people who donate to this cause are giving those kids the only thing they can.
angelzpoo 1 year ago
@angelzpoo
I simply think there are better and less extravagant charities than can contribute to helping sick kids. The sketch satirized the foundation and not the kids and this proves half the country is far too thick to understand the difference in a satire, and a funny one at that.
figaz555 1 year ago
@figaz555 how can you judge a person on what they could be? no one could ever know. what i do know is that the majority of those kids are decent people worth helping. the make a wish foundation isnt always extravagant - for example one kid asked for a dog, another a concert ticket. i think you misinterpreted the joke - the chaser wasnt having a go at the make a wish foundation, they were having a go at the people who actually believe the opinion they portrayed in the skit.
angelzpoo 1 year ago
@angelzpoo
No they were making fun of the charity you fucking retard. If you can't understand that you are clearly a fool and should be put down like the dog you are.
figaz555 1 year ago
@figaz555 im sorry? did you not hear the vid above? 'we didnt ever wish to imply that the make a wish foundation does nothing other than good work. we thought the skit was so over the top that nobody would take it seriously. ' the truth is that people do have the opinions expressed in the skit (proved by your existance) and the chaser was trying to show how over the top it was. dont message me again. nothing you have to say interests me - im no longer going to indulge your warped opinions.
angelzpoo 1 year ago
@angelzpoo
And I know that many won't grow up as you put it, although I think that they may not have been destined to be high achievers or even half decent people in the first place. WHAT have they done to deserve such extravagance that normal hard working people may NEVER get in their life.
figaz555 1 year ago
@figaz555 i have already answered that question. the kids have been dying of cancer for years. not many hard working people have to do that. have you even been on the website? the stuff asked for wasnt that extravagant- a holiday, dog, meet the wiggles (wiggles did that free). most hard working people will have a dog, a holiday, and can buy a ticket to the wiggles. there will be people who deserve this stuff and dont get it. Does that mean people should just stop doing anything kind for anyone?
angelzpoo 1 year ago
@angelzpoo They were making fun of the charity not the children themselves. Furthermore the children will die so why not use that money to prevent other children without non curable disease from dying? Why not use the money from these charities to save the ones we can. what is the point in using money on kids that will die no matter what when there are other kids out ther who wont die if the funds are given. Give money to dying people 2 times as many will die to the reverse 1/2 of that wil die
bloodymarry667 1 year ago
@bloodymarry667 please don't message me. I'm not going to waste my words repeating an arguement i've already had. feel free to read my other comments.
thank you.

You boys did the honorable thing of apologizing even when you have no case to answer, that's real class not the vultures and attention junkies who have another reason to attack you.
Remus0387 1 year ago
In my opinion the Chasers have nothing to apologise, the "Make a wish foundation" IS full of shit....The sick children already have their parents buying them stuff like toys and books, they don't need the public to donate money for toys or holidays.
There are people who are much more unfortunate than these sick kids in Australia, for example the people in Africa who are suffering from poverty and disease. Tthe money they used for toysto feed a entire village for one week
KKIC811 1 year ago
If they did anything wrong it was preaching to a more widespread audience in their previous sketches/works. This wasn't a great Chaser sketch--I wasn't even watching it by that stage--but if they had started out with this stuff, maybe they would have defined their audience moreso. The problem was that their show became a regular weekly watch in so many households, everyone raved about it, and the popularity gave them boundaries rather than freedom. The sketch itself is clearly dark satire.

ManFromMelbourne 1 year ago
@ManFromMelbourne It's "Good riddance", mate. And I don't think the skit killed their career...I doubt they would have continued with another season anyway. They probably would have moved onto something new. These boys, if anything, have only gotten better through the Chaser.

just to put it out there no one took into account of the actual children involved, if the hospital or the children and families filmed had a problem with the sketch they would not have given consent for the chasers to use the footage of them so im pretty sure if the kids involved didnt hav a problem why did everyone else go skitzo

Voodoofreak35 1 year ago
your trying to control someones actions, which in itself is fundamentally 'bad' im not having a go at your background, education or environment etc. However, the intention behind your words is contradicting the message your trying to relay to the chasers, basically your refusal to accept a perfectly justified(albeit unnecessary apology) as well as generalised insults towards a group of people you dont know is pretty lame
