dude... awesome video, but im gonna get the exact video camera you got (the zr850) like in 1 week. so i was wondering, is it worth the money and is the picture quality good on your computer. Also if u have put any video from your video camera onto a dvd.. how is the quality on the tv! and how small is it! And wats this about slow computers or something...? if u can tell me the requirements or anything i need to know.! Please answer me bak!!! Pleeeze!!!
ZR850 is a great camera for the price. In order to get the full video quality you need to buy a firewire card.. or get a mac, which is pretty much standard for any good camera these days. The camera records by default at 640x480 in widescreen, which is normal TV and DVD quality. I would really recommend this camera.
ZR850 is exactly what you need, but be sure to switch to LP recording mode on the DV tape. The only problem is that NO video camera is good in low light, and you aren't clear on what you need with self timing.
I hope you put some more stuff on YouTube! I just got a ZR850, and I'd like to see what other people do with it. I had to order a Firewire card, so I won't be able to put anything on here for about another week though.
How did you dump the fottage off the DV tape onto the computer? I have a ZR850 and I record it to a SanDisk, then upload via USB to my PC, but it has a dramatic quality loss.
It's not the camera, it's the compression to movie format from an iMovie HD file that results in picture loss. I didn't mean to mislead. The camera takes great shots for its price/build range.
I just used one of the computers at work's firewire connection to get some footage off a DV tape, and the quality was amazing!! ZR850 is a great buy for sure. There are many features on it that aren't matched by other cameras. If you are going to buy one, you should probably buy the battery with the most capacity you can, because the one that comes with it only lasts around an hour. Great buy.

I use a FireWire connection and import into iMovie HD on my Mac. It plays the DV tape and unloads it all from wherever you start.
