  • Nice clip Adam. Did this version of $25,000 Pyramid have the dreaded "V of Doom" in the end of the show?

  • Nope...never saw it on any of the eps WLIG ran in the mid-80s, just an in-credit mention of Viacom near the end of the roll.

  • Lawford was really a great game show player. RIP, Pete.

  • September 1978 to Sept 1979

  • this episode was in fact on WNBC 4 in NYC NOT WCBS Ch 2

  • What year did "The $25,000 Pyramid" move from WCBS to WNBC? Because the show aired on the former channel first, before moving to the latter.

  • I believe it was the final (78-79) season.

  • The real/fake Phil Collins! LOL!

  • Nice to see a clip of Bill's version. I understand that all 150 episodes of it exist and are gathering dust in the vaults of Viacom/CBS. I sure wish they would release it and let GSN air them. Bill was a great host on any show.

  • Good News! According to the gameshowkingdom at blogspot, The $25,000 pyramid makes its grand return on March 30th at 11:30 AM and 90 minutes later, the $100,000 pyramid returns to the same network at 1:00 PM.

  • That is one EXCITED lady!!

  • No, I'll just spank it and send it to bed without supper. Bad video! Bad!

  • lol. nice

  • Pure class. :)

  • That ain't good enough. You have to throw it in jail. :-P

  • Throw it in jail and TORTURE IT! :P

  • One of the few times I've seen Bill Cullen get attacked by a contestant, he's usually either on the opposite side of the stage or separated by a podium. Just a little observation.

  • The reason Bill Cullen never moved around the set of any show he did was a noticeable limp that resulted from a childhood bout with polio. Packagers such as Mark Goodson and Bob Stewart, much in the same spirit as photographers did with President Franklin D. Roosevelt, showed sensitivity to this and usually had him stand still or remain seated in order to conceal his condition. In other words, Cullen seldom put himself into position for a hyper victorious contestant to possibly injure him.

  • yeah, it's funny how certain hosts like Bill Cullen and Allen Ludden never really got love from the contestants, while others like Bob Barker and Monty Hall got attacked on a daily basis (hell, even Alex Trebek did back in the the days of High Rollers and Classic Concentration)

  • When Cullen appeared in a CBS revival of the game in the 1980's, he was seated already on contestant's table for that reason.

  • Contestants just don't get that excited over winning big money anymore. It's a shame, really. Gameshows (and TV) have really gone to crap nowadays.

  • By 1987-88 many of the wins (other than $100G tourney victories) were greeted with comparatively blase reactions. The exception: When someone guessed the last WC category at the last section and Clark would shout "Yes!" as he also did during almost EVERY win in 1973-74.

  • One other thing: Though the Cullen show has the TV Guide props and the early years of the Clark show had exciting winners, I think the peak was the mid-80s Clark version - especially by 1985. That's when "Pyramid's" game play was really going great guns (and it dominated the "Best Game Show" Emmys). And when he was "on," few quiz hosts could build tension as Clark did.

  • Hehehe, thank you! I've always wanted to see Debralee Scott on the Pyramid.

  • Always nice to see a contestant giving the clues in the winner's circle and having success!!! :) Nice job there, girl!!!

  • At least it's not a '58 Chevette!

  • '85! '85! lol. :)

  • Classic Dick Clark blooper.

Ironic considering that Dick also hosted those Bloopers specials.
