  • Did someone actually beat the game ??

  • ...and I brought them boys all home in one piece!

  • Also why is he heading directly towards the NVA base? Obviously didn't read the manual lolz

  • One of my favourite games as a kid. So brutally hard though. Usually things would go to the shit and I'd end up double timing just to say I got a bit further into the terrain before soft cock section mates fragged me

  • When you hear this tune, it immediately lifts your awareness about some shit getting REAL:(

  • God, i loved this game!! :-)

  • loved this game when i was a kid. anyone know if it's available for mac?

  • I hated this game as a kid.. Muttany or death every single time!

  • @Totto87 yeah I honestly think it was not possible to beat it unless you use a certain exploit involving sleeping no longer than 30 minutes if I remember correctly, your food won't run out that way and you can have your men fully rested

  • @Ruslakall Well, you are about 12 years too late, but thanks! ;)

  • @Ruslakall I did it! No cheating involved!

  • I played alot of amiga games but gotta admit have never heard of this. looks a bit trial and error? interesting though..

  • Sweet memories... hour after hour, partially hypnotized by the music, infused by an overall feeling of loneliness and despair. Hideously difficult, but what an atmosphere!.

  • Awesome game! Played it alot on Amiga in the early 90s.

The animations are from the Vietnam tv series "Tour Of Duty".. Recognized them when i watched the show on tv.

  • I remember playing this game but never made it past the start. I have a vague memory of the men dying from hunger or something :(

  • Awesome game score! Still, 20 years later I remember the tune, and can find myself humming on it, with no computers anywhere near me ;)

  • the soundtrack makes you understand that there's some serious shit going on

  • Bonjour,

Lost patrol est probablement l'un des meilleurs jeux sur amiga 500.

Le jeux par lui meme était deja tres bien, mais la musique......trop bonne.

  • One of he best music tracks for the Amiga I believe. It really made the game

  • What a beautiful game! Awsome music. Amiga ftw!!!

  • I love this Vintage Porn Music !

  • @CAMULOS28

porn? wtf? this music makes me think of war, death and sadness, but not of porn :)

  • it reminds me the old days, when i watch this i have tears in my eyes

  • @Atillaart Amen to that my friend.

  • the game is only about the sound

  • @GayThyrills NO its not, the game was the bollocks as well. you dont know fuck all son

  • I managed to beat it. With 3 soldiers left.

  • Very difficult game, but the most immersive vietnam war related game.

  • DONT EAT THE RICE!!.

  • im german: this game was soo heavy: i´d tryed again and again...

    but: 5up!***

  • @TheGolfballhuelsi Schwer=heavy, difficult=hard

  • Comment removed

  • @TheGolfballhuelsi There's that word again; "heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pull?

  • @JoergWessels hahaha very good! doc rules

  • @JoergWessels

He probably meant to say "difficult", the German word for "heavy" (="schwer") can also mean "difficult".

  • @Mantil82 You don't watch movies, do you?

  • @JoergWessels

Haha, I knew that the line is from Back to the Future, just thought there might be a little missunderstanding.

  • lol it seems like orgeon trail but vietnam version. XD

  • Played this many years ago, wanted so bad to get the the end but never could. Later I played this on emulator using the 10min trick and finally got the end and I was like "oh, wow, really, thats it?"

  • THE BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE...when we were playing this amazing game on the legendary AMIGA 500...when we were young and wild and free...i feel sooo nostalgic of those days...

  • I remember you had the option of questioning or shooting an old farmer, i would always question him and then shoot him, just because i didnt like his answers lol, i dont know if it made any difference to the game.

  • make games like this

  • The game is engraved on my mind, the good way. The music... is epic, and sets the mood so perfectly. Oh and yes, I finished the game a few times, but that was like 1 in every 250 games or so hehe.

  • Blom! that names still cracks me up

  • @jameskennedy80

Hi James. The guy is named after William Blom an old friend of mine from Holland, the name is common there.:)

    Ian (Graphics, Lost Patrol)

  • @ShadowDevelopment Oh wow, cool!

  • this game,, have given me such memories,, that i can feel a tear of this fuckin shit,,, damn game,,, and damn war of thingies,,,

  • Good amiga game... and quite hard, until I read somewhere that the game was easy if you just rested for 10 minutes after each move.

  • @HolgerDenmark

    Nice Hint!

  • realy god game.

  • nice game....where can i buy it?

  • I miss this game =( i have searched it from ebay so i can play it again with my amiga. This game feels real and its kinda sad game too

  • I always loved the Pictures in loadin screens on the Amiga, so cool that i would wish they made all of em into posters, unpolished !

  • It unleashes your fantasy...thats what makes it so good.

  • I played this SO much when I was a kid. That soundtrack is deeply engraved into my psyche.

  • bello

  • wow, seems pretty complicated in a good way for amiga! neat

  • This is perhaps my all time favorite Amiga theme. The game also was very hard, I don't recall ever beating it. I wish I could have a go at it once more now that I have grown, considerably, older.

  • You can play it with the WinUAE emulator on your pc. Just get the game disc image and kick.rom.

  • Super Spiel gewesen!! Habs leider nie bis zum Ende geschafft...

  • awesome game :D

  • one of my fav amiga's games, awesome!

  • great atmosphere, the bastards always put a grenade in my backpack when they got tired and angry...

  • @FeNsTa That feckin Gomez. You couldnt trust him. He was always the one to put a grenade in your back pack or stab you. We were in it together FFS!! I always used to send him off as a lone scout. That learnt the bastard. Didn't do too much for his moral though lol

  • @liambirch : I read u baby....that smuck GOMEZ...death to him!

  • Exists a great remix of this music.

Try to seatch on Google the words "Lost Patrol Makke Remix64"

    ;-)

  • I did it once....walking at the bottom of the map, got lucky that nobody put a 'nade in my bag....

  • ich habe das spiel niemals verstanden - aber der sound war exquisit

  • @Thyrill ja lol

  • I got as far as middle of the map... it's been what... 20 yrs ago?

If there was an emulator I'd try again now. But I really don't know anyone who did it. It was a very hard game!!!

  • Yeah, I remember finishing the game about 15 years ago, I pretty much walked in a straight line to the end base, avoiding everything, I think it was more luck on my side that I had finished, barely survived. Yes I agree, one of the best Amiga games of all time :)

  • This brings back memories! I could never get very far in this game but that music is just so atmospheric!

  • I always got killed by damn snipers :D

  • God i loved this game, I played it for hours and never ever finished it.

  • Ah, amazing tune. I remember it so well.

  • Soundtrack of my Youth...I made it, but it was a hard try...

  • This was my first amiga game ever.....had an c64 before that and was absolutely stunned by the graphics and the black and white vids ^^.....shit....im old.....

  • I remember my brother playing this. he was almost at the base when his last guy walked on a mine and had to start from a very far place since he forgot to save :)

  • This has to be the most immersive game ever! really gets you into the mood of being there. Most of it is thanks to the soundtrack and the animations.

  • I think that noone wver finsished this game. it was impoosible.

  • I did once - by pure luck (Not running into that many patrols). The other times I never even came close...

  • how did it end??

  • @Afghanen I did finish it. With 3 or 4 men. :D

  • True!

i think this game had no end!

i dont know anybody who did it

  • @dafrocka The game do in fact have an end of game sequence. However when I finally finished it I was disappointed. It's basically an image of an American flag and some text about remembering that it was a real war and no fun. When the game is that hard to beat you sort of expect that the endgame will show you something at least of the same standard as the game itself.

  • @tymmur

ah, ok. you are the first one i met, who

    finished this game :)

but very sad to hear that the ending is so

    lame!!!!

  • amiga sounds were ever realy good, they had a special fealing i tend to explain.

may be some kind of retro thinking, but i think amiga sounds were realy good

  • This song is what got me into Kraftwerk, at least one amiga site said they did this song for this game, anyway... been hooked ever since. No idea they would turn out to be one of the founders of synth, with 80's videos and all, lol. Awesome.

  • The music wasn't by Kraftwerk (what a coup that would have been!) it was by a young chap who only wrote one computer game theme when he was 15 and was never involved in the scene since.

  • what a shame!

    He surely had talent.

  • At the time fantastic graphics!! But what a boring game to play cross map, rest a bit, cross map again,Ohh! Vidi-amiga clip in B/W!,cross map,Operation Wolf shoot out, cross map, snip some VC muzzle flashes, have a shit, cross map...and GAME OVER because of a terrible bug the game had! or when your men got fed up and put a nade in your backpack,But great amiga back then!! oh and the music sounds like Paul Young Everytime you go away

  • what happened in this time......

    We where young and callow......

  • thx

  • Loved it! Played it all the way several times. The music score is fantastic!

  • It`s the 80s love . memories the sound eas great . Is Think for my live time it was unforgatable

  • Wouldn't that be 90s love?

  • <3 that tune - What's it called?

  • Lost patrol ingame music?

  • Oh yes!

  • its the main tune of this game, you could call it "lost patrol".. ´=)

  • was a pretty damn good game, i completed it several times, sniper action was cool i also loved the close combat against a VC well all the actions was cool really, and yes it was difficult you had to know the areas well and raid the cities if you wanted hohoho atleast i got some ammo and grenades this way,

  • always wanted to play this - never got the chance to

  • Im sorry for you. Thanks to this game, we had a lot of fun at home when it was raining outside. :)

  • This game is EXTREMELY difficult, and sometimes unfair. My main beef was with the imprecise, sometimes weird controls in the action scenes.

  • Man, why did you head straight into the minefield? I was hoping to see a sniper scene, or some hand to hand combat, or clearing out MG nests with hand grenades...

The game had all that, it was a great game, and I loved it! The vid is totally boring!

  • yes... i think you could have shown some more of the core game elements in this vid.

  • never played it yet but nice music :P 5*****

  • I still love the music: just awsome. Five stars just for this feature.

  • Memories.. GREAT game!

  • i so love this tune i live for it...

when i was stalk my first girlfriend 11 years ago i was humming this tune hehehehe!

  • i was about 8-10 when i played this, and I always failed. Maybe because I didnt understand english, but i never got long past the first river. Failed the minigames, someone stepped on a mine and lost his legs, no food to eat, pinned down, was killed by my own soldiers... and started all over again for the 100th time, happy as hell

  • I completed this game twice and on the second try I saved the entire squad.

That was it for me, no replay value anymore.

  • Indeed, the game was very slow. but somehow with the music it became a realy cool game to play.

  • i love this game i still got my amiga and Lost patrol and it still works ;)

  • Not true. The sniping was good and when you had a good grasp of which way to go it was enjoyable to do everytime.

  • I decided to try out this game again. I remembered it wasn't a major hit among my game collection before and I quickly realized the reason. It's slow and hard as hell. Those pictures and music start to repeat themselves pretty fast and the game gets really boring after a short while. Minigames were very annoying and unimaginative. All that should be remembered of this game was shown in this video.

  • Like most games from the 90's!

I loved this game for one reason, it had (what I thought) decent full motion video!

  • This is a great game, brings back many memories. I was 5 when I played it, I remember how the Moore guy always used to step into a booby trap and I wondered wtf was going on :)

  • My teammates always commited suicide or murdered me. This game was and still is very hard to play. I hope they make a 360 Arcade with HD graphics but keeps the gameplay the same as the Amiga

  • when i was young i cant sleep because of this music i like it so much and sleepness go away

  • My god, haven't heard the music from this in 18 years. Still knew it like the back of my hand, though. Great stuff.

  • Wow, das nenne ich mal eine Kriegssimulation, stundenlang rummaschieren, in ein Minenfled tapsen und Boom! Game Over.

    Schockierender als jedes Ballerspiel, irgendwie.

  • i want a remake of this great game!

  • That's impossible man. Nobody makes so great games anymore. They think all a game has to have to be considered "good" is good graphics and lots of violence. They are completely wrong of course. But I feel if a remake of this game was published today, everyone would say "ah, this is boring".

  • in just 2 disks this game was for the amiga!!! great music, great graphics, great game play!!! its Amiga game no more words!!!

  • der sound ist vielleicht echt mal schön! amiga... das waren noch ZEITEN ! geil! ^^

  • Wow, a true classic! I so miss that game... Does anyone know if it's available for PC or Mac today?

  • The PC and mac version were pretty poor conversions, I wouldn't recommend them. Better to get an Amiga emulator for your PC maybe.

    Ian Harling

  • hat das Spiel überhaupt jemals jemand bis zum Ende spielen können? Sobald sich die Karte verschoben hatte, war bei mir spätestens aus...

  • Me and my friend actually completed it once, but just barely. You get to see a little black 'n white animation of a waving US flag (same kind you see during the game). With the right mix of rest, food and walking the men stay relatively safe and happy.

  • Ich hab's nie geschafft. Meine Leute sind immer an Fallen gestorben. Eigentlich schade, es ist ein großartiges Spiel.

  • Amazing game, fingers crossed for a next gen version!

  • Was just talking about amiga games with a friend of mine when I found this, forgot how much I love this theme song!

    Cheers for uploading it =D

  • Super Spiel gewesen!

  • Most atmospheric game soundtrack ever made. Damn I wanted these guys to stay alive. Poor bastards. I almost felt physical pain whenever anyone got trapped in a booby trap.

Me and my friend actually completed this game once...it was extremely hard though.

  • Its still very fun to play and the music is a rare gem. Perfect game if you want to chill a little.

  • Wow thank you so much for uploading this. Been wanting to set up the old amiga just to hear this soundtrack again. Brilliant

  • i loved the game - and still love the masterpiece of soundtrack, its good for coding ;)

  • absolutely! - GREAT GAME - BRILLIANT SOUNDTRACK!!!

  • Loved that Game back in the 1990´s on my Amiga but never finished it. Sucked Ass that you cant safe to disk, only saved to RAM. Made it impossible to finish it. Good old times, i miss you

  • oh yeah...n i hate the random booby-traps in this game ...or perhaps i stuck to the trails too long :p

  • i agree with u deviletk ... they worked within technical limitations n produced gems even by today's standards ... amazing to think that this was all done ages ago...

  • music always was good back then. Todays games cant even get close to what we had back then, and today we got all the power and tools in the world. Limitations brings out the best in people i guess.

  • I was then six and I must say that PC version sucks - poor colours, poor music. I still own amiga 500 but I think one day will buy iMac G3 and install morphos.

  • You couldn't be more true, deviletk. Limitations, indeed, bring out our best. Luxury is comfort and by being comfortable we go inactive. That was a great game back then.

  • amazing game

    great music

  • My commrades were always exhausted? And I could never get past that sniper level. I hope that level comes on as I'm typing ...

  • Wonderful game - I was pretty obsessed with it back in the day - I used to relay my accomplishments in it to my parents during dinner time - I remember my mother being bothered by me saying I had the whole village shot down on arrival...

  • Hehehe:)

  • hahahaha!!!! XD

  • There was a way through this game which avoided everything. Still took a long time to get over the map. Amazing game!!!

  • You can say it about alot of thing, but they really don't make games like these anymore.

  • I always wanted this game when i was young, but never got round to playing it. The pocket money wasnt quite enough! Hehe, though i know own games like Vietcong, it will always remain a curiousity for me :)

  • I sucked so bad at this game, but I loved the music.

  • The music was really ... special

  • my trooper used to put grenades in my sleeping back because I never had them to rest!

    this game was EXTREMY hard

  • I suddenly miss my childhood. A lot. Thank you Amiga for a great youth. lol! This game rocked! But i honestly dont think that anyone really made it through the whole game. It was very hard.

  • great game, never finished it though but it had such a powerful feeling that made you playing it over and over again anyways

  • I've been playing it a lot... First on my 520 ST, then on my friend's Amiga, then on my PC. Great game. I've even wrote an essay to school inspired by the story behind this game when I was 15 years old. I've got a good mark and the opinion of serious student ;-)

  • a friend of mine almost completed this game, but when just outside the city his last soldier stepped on a boobie trap and died. I don't think he ever played this game again after that.... :)

  • I love this game it's my first vietnam war vietnam game tank you for this vidéo

And best music when the player is dead I like this music

  • Enormous my first game vietnam war nice music I have finish it only 1 but very nostalgia when i see again the game and lesson music thank you guy

  • I never managed that well with it, but I remember just that I kept plugging in the disks in my Amiga500 for the music and the animated scenes.

  • One of the Top 3 Amiga soundtracks along with Strike Fleet and No Second Prize.

I heard rumours this music had been written by Kraftwerk. Is it true? :))

  • The German group Kraftwerk were not involved in the making of the music. There is a credit for 'Kraftwaerk' on the game for coding sequences, however.

  • wow good to see (and hear) it again

  • Oh man . This was great. i played it when i was 7 years old . I couldnt finish it but my father showed me how to do . It is really fantastic how games can give u old fellings and memories back !

  • You can play this with winUAE.

  • This game was truley the nuts.

I am proud to say I did finish it. The atmosphere of the game was amazing.. always had me on the edge of my bean bag (it was the 90`s). If anyone finds a way to play on a PC (emulator??) please let us know.

  • Is there any chance to End this game?

  • Best soundtrack ever

  • incredible soundtrack!

    love this game!
