I dont see why cedar fairs wont just give the ride a new story that isnt like tomb raider, and have the same effects as it did before??? Get ride of the tomb raider themeing, and make a new storyline that can utilize the special effects that tomb raider had.
This was the old kings island, that actually made it onto discovery channel, and travel TV. Now in days kings island seems to be dieing off, because its lost its vibe with having unique Rollercoasters and rides that you can not find anywhere else, Having the world's tallest gyro drop (drop tower), tallest and fastest, only looping wooden rollercoaster (SOB) And the longest wooden rollercoaster (BEAST) made kings island one of a kind, now we typical rides and rollercoasters from cedar fairs.
yesterday i went on this and usually its dark but this time it was partially lit and when you moved the goddess lit up and you went towards her it did the lava but not everything was lit.. it still did the lame 2 flip thing though
I wish paramount bought kings island back that would cool and I miss all the old rides even the kids rides like scooby doo, rugrats, sun of beast etc. Paramount made wring turn for selling it and now I miss how it looked along time ago which was way better!!

fuck crypt,me and my friends rode it,it was the last rides of the night,we rode it three times in a row,the last ride,it broke down,wow. its super lame,bring back the old tomb raider!
I just went there this weekend. I agree, this ride sucks, and I really wish I could have rode it when it was Tomb Raider. It was hot as balls outside though, the only reason I went on it 3 times was for the air conditioning.
no no no no i ment the coaster that just went through the loop at 0:12 the coaster right in front of son of beast with the yellow coaster train going into the loop, look cloasley at the coaster when you pause its a little blurry the coaster with the replica of the eifel tower in the background
@bohrokthunder Trust me, that is Son of Beast's loop. It was a wooden tracked and STEEL supported, what you're seeing. Google "Son of Beast loop" and you will see what I'm talking about
@GJdude8612 ooh now i get it they used a metal loop instead of a wooden loop so the structure wouldent give way and collapse when the train went on it
@bohrokthunder the loop didnt cause the ride to have the accident it was the helix after the loop, because the carts used were heavy and caused alot of stress on the helix so it gave way. the reason the loop is gone is because they changed to lighter carts and the lighter carts couldnt make it threw the loop.
Looks like the Cliffhanger at Wonderland only way bigger and more badass. Definitely very different than the lay down coaster they have at wonderland.
The Crypt sucks. Like stupid Cedar Fair had to change all the names and everything. There's no more water, it doesn't go as high, and it only spins you like 4 times. No joke its not worth waiting in like for like 20 minutes when its only a minute long. The inside is pretty random. Theres like a random bat/dog thing that just kinda chills there for like 5 minutes before its wings open and theres sand and fake bones everywhere. I wish Paramount kept it.

@klb084 at kings dominin, or what ever name it is, still has the fire, and water/lava affect. EXPLAIN THAT!!! My Guess is when they de-themed it, and they took out the giant triangle inside the RIDE chamber they had to take out the lava, so they could get the crain. I bet that the stalagtites got in the way and they had to take that out aswell.

A standing rollercoaster. and Hanna Barbera is the company that created the Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo, etc. and also WAAAAAY back in the day what is now Planet Snoopy at Kings Island used to be Hanna Barbera Land.
God that ride used to be so freaking amazing! Now it's the lame as hell Crypt and I don't even go on it anymore because it's so stupid!!! I really wish Paramounts never sold their parks, Kings Island was so much better when Paramounts owned it. Still love that place though lol :)

@girlofgaga63 I have been to Cedar Point. And yes, Cedar Fair has some impressive roller coasters at their disposal at a lot of their parks, but I don't like CF. Ever since they bought the Paramount Parks, Kings Island kinda got...lame-ish. It's not really a theme park anymore, it's pretty much just a coaster park now. I liked Paramount better than Cedar Fair, but that's just me, I guess.
@jacobbeavers diamondback was a sad replacement for the son of beast, if cedair fairs really wanted to build a ride like they would normally, diamondback would be over 300ft tall, it stands today at only about 230ft, and thats only about 15ft taller than the son of beast. Firehawk and Windseeker are not even new rides, they just took them from other parks, repainted then and gave them a new name, truely cedair fair sucks
@stangsaleens7 the same year kings island built diamondback the sister park Kings Dominion got a 305ft rollercoaster that year called Intimidator 305, thats some serious bullshit kings island didnt get the same with diamondback.

Me and my friends tried to go on the KI one in 2009, but the path was PITCH DARK. Not dimly lit. So we didn't go because we had to hold hands to not get lost.
You know, at Kings Dominion in Virginia, their Tomb Raider ride was outside, and even though it's been re-named "The Crypt", it still has all its Tomb Raider theming. It even has the Tomb Raider music still. It's much better than The Crypt at KI. Since Kings Island and Kings Dominion are owned by the same people, I don't see why they had to completely take out all the Tomb Raider theming at KI, yet they could keep it at KD. It's stupid.
I remeber when this was tomb raider and all the people use to actually clap at the end of the ride. now that its the crypt all people do is complain how boring it was at the end of the ride. it does even flip you upside down anymore. Flipping cant be wearing out the parts that bad. its not even exposed to any weather being that its in the building so it should be easier to keep the parts maintained.
this was the best non coaster (flat) ride ever when it was tomb raider. Cedar fair could have took out the theming and changed it so it didn't use the tomb raider copyright, much better than they did. they could have put more effort into changing the ride to the crypt, changing the characters to zombies or something, changing the giant statue to a skull or sumthing and kept the ride program the same. I miss this era.
kings island needs to get back to what they had they are not the park they used to be. tomb raiders gone and so is king cobra and hannah barbarra land. and dont get me started on son of beast.
Cedar Fair should get rid of the Giant sized top spin and replace it with a regular sized one so the Crypt doesn't suck anymore. Plus, they should add theming. And with a smaller top spin size, it could run longer.
Wow this ride looked fucking AMAZING. I love how they went out all out to make this a genuine Tomb Raider experience. I regret so much that I never rode it when it was called Tomb Raider: The Ride. Now its the Crypt, devoid of any effects or props, and owned by Cedar Fair, who ripped the heart out of Kings Island.

cedar fair destroys everything they touch. they got rid of all the special effects..no fog or water or lights..and it was only about 20 secs. long. it was the biggest waste of an hour and a half in line.

I got on it...it was my first time riding it. So i never got on the Tomb Raider only The Crypt...so I was fucking scared. I know I fail. I was just holding myself in by my legs. lol it was funny!! I screamed as soon as they lifted us up. People laughed at me...it was awkward...

this ride looks great, wish i could ride it but its in not here in Uk, its just like the ripsaw at alton tower thou, but enclosed in a tomb. the ripsaw is pretty cool

its so sad...The crypt sucks now...the rooms is completely dark no lights, no water...and it only flips you twice...very disappointing knowing how awesome it was.
When my aunt was on this she got sprayed directly in the face with the "lava"!

@BishtrainerTai16 it was. i rode it when it was tomb raider and now as the crypt. I can tell u that TOMB RAIDER WAS THE BEST FLAT RIDE IN THE U.S. It was even the #1 Flat ride in in the U.S. by Amusement Today. It was known as THE FLAT RIDE OF ALL FLAT RIDES.

cedar fair destroys everything they touch. they got rid of all the special effects..no fog or water or lights..and it was only about 20 secs. long. it was the biggest waste of an hour and a half in line.

Yeah I road this ride last night! and its the Crypt Now you only flip twice! I was So Disappointed and they took out the third row seats! Cedar Fair bought the park and Ruined the Theme and rides!

instead of special effects, "The CRYPT" now serves as a custodial closet on the bottom floor...I was certainly thrilled to be hanging upside down above mops, brooms, carts...the whole works

I got on it...it was my first time riding it. So i never got on the Tomb Raider only The Crypt...so I was fucking scared. I know I fail. I was just holding myself in by my legs. lol it was funny!! I screamed as soon as they lifted us up. People laughed at me...it was awkward...

It's no longer the Tomb Raider,,, It's The Crypt now, It's nothing like that now, I just visited Kings Island July 6th 2010. I would have liked it if it was anything like this video,,
they have changes alot sense Cedar Fair has took over Kings Island.

its so sad...The crypt sucks now...the rooms is completely dark no lights, no water...and it only flips you twice...very disappointing knowing how awesome it was.
