  • What brand timer are you using if I may ask...and nice vid btw helped me alot ty.

  • love the vide...im not too tech about plumbing..but your video has help me alot. As I am in the process of having someone replace a broken water heater.

Now when you fill up the tank, can you relief pressure by opening the facet in your house too?

  • I followed your steps down to the T,,strange thing is that no water came out,,barley, when I opened the bottom?????????

  • Thanks for this informative video!

  • Online plumbing help at vpvirtualplumbing on the web is avalible now!

  • Hi, my water heater stopped working after the water service was interrupted. it stayed on for about a day without water pressure n most likely that 's the reason. Can someone help me figuring out what's wrong with it and how to fix it

  • This is the best instructional video how to flush. I was going to get a tankless, but decided against it since it costs THOUSANDS to install it, and some people have said it was NOT cost saving, but their energy bill was actually HIGHER than electric. I have a "smart set" electric water heater so it's energy efficient despite being electric. COST OF PROPANE IS GOING UP because gas prices are rising. That's something else you have to think about.

  • nice comprehensive video thanks

  • Thank you guys for taking the time to shoot this video and posting for us.

  • hmmm...a good DIY vid

  • thanks for posting the vid!

  • Stupid question, but I know nothing about plumbing: how do you know when the thing is full again after you've drained it. There's no plumb-bob or level, so how do you know it's full? Thanks, from Louisiana.

  • @incarnadinelifestyle - just turn on the cold water valve and listen; as long as nobody is running hot water anywhere in the house, you will know when the tank is full once you can no longer hear the water running into it. Hope this helps!

  • @antclifft37 Yeah that is helpful. I appreciate your advice.

  • Good video

  • Thank you very much for this info - very helpful.

  • Very instructive. Thanks!

  • Very Helpful!

  • do they have a cold water cooler too??????

  • Why do they heat hot water?

  • Is it a "require" or "optional" to use the TP valve to release the air? What happen If i dont let the air release will it cause a problem?

  • He uses the T&P valve to allow air to enter the sealed tank to aid in the draining.

  • If the TP valve is not allowing any passage then you should replace it anyway.

  • make sure u get that electric water heater pilot lite lit when your done people you will notice what i just said if your not a retard

  • great video. thanks.

  • This information is very helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to make the video.

    From eastern Canada!

  • I never knew you had to clean them out! now i do! thanks!

I made a video on how to fix the pilot light and replace the thermocouple.

the video is on my profile.

again, thanks a lot for the video!

  • when u turn water on to fill up tank do u leave the cold water valve still on?

  • On the first one you drained, how come the water was'nt hot?

  • Both of those water heaters are controlled by timers so that they aren't heating water during the hours that nobody is home, or sleeping.

  • Yeah, but does that save energy? You're now having to HEAT a tank of cold water after its turned off for hours instead of the heater sporadically coming on to keep what water is inside it hot?

  • no it save a lot of energy because it takes about 15 min to heat the water where as it would run all night to maintain the heat using more energy

  • As a new home owner, i was ignorant to this responsibility to maintain a water heater. I just thought they work and I could just forget about it until it fails. Well, mine shut off tonight. After some research, I've learned a lot tonight. My issue was a faulty thermo and the high temp reset was activated. Tomorrow, i will follow your vid to service my 3 year old water heater and replace my thermo's (both, just to be sure). Got a vid for that too?

Thanks for the help and info!

  • is that water well water, well if it is that can cause a lot of sediment build up if you dont have a filter

  • I agree with luckerama I learn by seeing much better, I never knew how to do this and never had the luxury for being able to aford someone to do it. I'm going to teach my hubby (he doesnt know either lol).

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEO!! God bless you for sharing this with us so we can do it for ourselves finally!

  • couldnt you just turn on a spigot to bleed the air out or do you have to use the pressure release valve

  • I like SEEING how things are done and this is a perfect addition to my home maintenance videos. Well done.
